Anyone who has anything against Harper - post here.
margrace replied to Hcheh's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
One of the newspaper was saying that Harper cannot claim that his economics have so far kept Canada from more grief. The deregulation in the US, not allowed in Canada, was done before he won his minority, it he had been in power before we would be in the same mess as the US, because he would have followed US policies. -
Just as I thought, the old Scottish prayer is still very much in vogue. "God Bless me and my Wife, my son John and his wife, us four no more" I wonder if some of you who are so unhappy about paying for needy seniors had walked in their shoes for a few years would your response be the same. High wages that allow you leaverage to save are also limited whether you like it or not. I hear a lot of complaints about unions, isn't that what it is.

Our home care is castastrophic to say the least, while family and friends were frantically trying to get some help for a senior citizen, he walked into the pond on his property. Harper plans a $150 tax credit for seniors, Layton promises a massive over haul of home care more help for low income seniors. What do you think is important?
-
Of course we do, our neighbour whose drugs cost upwards of $20,000 a year gets help from them and my daughter who developed leukemia and lost her benefits after Mr. Harris laid off 20% of the "Bimbo" got it as well. What do the other provinces do with their lottery takes.

Ontario's street racing legislation is illegal

So if someone in your family was killed today by a person going 50Ks over the speed limit you would still want the law repealed or changed. Sounds like you just like to argue. -
Oh but I wasn't asking Google was I, what does it mean to you?
-
It depends on what you call equal dosen't it?
-
Do you think Harper's image with women has improved?

Several people, including WhiteDoors, had mentioned new age books on here and I really would like to know their definition of new age.
-
I am curious as to why people get so angry and judgemental about native people. I suspect that even suggesting that we as white people may be a little bit guilty of what has happened to them.upsets our fine view of ourselves. It is the same as the attitude toward people on welfare and using food banks. It has to be their fault, they are you fill it the judgement.
-
I am curious exactly what is a new age book?
-
Yes and one of the hardest lessons to learn is not to judge others. I am making every effort to look at the world with different eyes and not one of judgement. Even that is hard. If one wants to bring in the Bible into the discussion that there is the little story of the mot in our brothers eye and the bigger one in our own. Something to think about.
-
The bottom line I hear from the discussions on here is that if we accept what Charter Rights is saying then we have to admit that we are all responisble for our actions. Not some so called invented persona called the Devil. We are all part of God and that begs the question, what about people we term as evil. Where do they fit into this idea? That is where the big question comes from. If God is in all of us how can he be in a killer? That question is too frightening for most of us I guess. The problem seems to be that we want to blame others for the ills of the world instead of accepting the truth that there is good and evil in all of us and we need to find a way to see this and work with it. I believe that basically heaven is here and so is hell, we create them both for ourselves and others.

McCain picks woman for VP slot
margrace replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Read this on another forum, it is written by Charley James and is entitled Alaskans speak (in a frightened whisper) Palin is racist, sexist, mean and vindictive. "So Sambl beat the bitch" comment by Palin in a public restaurant with many people around. This was apparently her comment about Obama winning the nomination. She also is reported to call the Native People of Alaska "Artic Arabs" nice lady aye -
Catastrophe for us all, McCain will win in the US and Harper will have a majority government in Canada. The thirtys all over again. Mass unemployment, mass starvation and two government leaders who do not give a darn except that they contol everything. These two men are no different, basically, from the Taliban in their contempt for us all.

.htm"]http://mclean.ch/climate/Eye_opening.htm[/url] No matter what happens humans are not going to go extinct - climate change is only a short term economic problem for humans because humans are not as mobile as they used to be. We can and must adapt to whatever changes come. We will be in a better position to do that if we don't deny ourselves access to cheap and reliable energy sources. The dinasours went extint so what makes you think humans are any different since apparently we are speeding up the change?

Why don't you say that to M. Dancer and Bush/Cheney

The other story is of Clement and the agricultural minister, is it Ritz, who fired Mr. Pomerlear for daring to object to the laying of of meat inspectors. Shades of Walkerton, Clement shoud know better, is that why he lit out for the American show.
-
Has Harper decided to cut and run after the news today that they were laying off meat inspectors, remember Walkerton?
-
So Mr. Harper is no more caring about people than Mr. Harris was when the inspection of water facilities was cut back and run by a private co. Headlines in the Globe and Mail Ottawa wanted US to ease meat inspections, Canadian Gov't strongly opposed toughter US rules to prevent listeria It is on line and anyone can read it. Do they think we are all a lot of sheep to be led to the slaughter?
-
Add that Harper is supposed to have said then people can sue the companies if they die?
-
Didn't Harper bank a little too heavily on forcing an election by making a lot of his new laws dependant on the Liberals turning them down and forcing an election. He was in opposition, didn't he realize what would happen in committees. When questions started being asked his people walked out of the committee thus bringing it all to a stalemate. I don't like Dion either but I think he is proving to be a little more of a strategic planner than Harper. The sad thinkg is how much this is all costing Canadians. By the way I was wondering why Clement is down at the convention in the states, is this a common thing for a cabinet minister to do and what is he doing.

I was listening to a discussion on people who talk outloud, we tend to consider them unstable, but don't we all do that in our head all the time. So what is the difference. Thoughts come and go, we either give them credence or we do not. The problem is that a lot of people think you cannot do anything about them. But yes you can, you can acknowledg a thought and decide whether you want to persue it or not. Yes you do have that power. The idea that you block thoughts, as some on here seem to think and abhor, is not what Tolle is saying. Kabat-Zinn says The only way to free yourself from a lifetime of being tyrannized by your own though processes,--- is to come to see your thouhts for what they are and to discern the sometimes subtle- but most often not so subtle-seeds of craving and aversion at work within them. When you can sucessfully step back and see that you are not your thoughts and feelings and you do not have to believe them and you certainly do not have to act on them, when you see vividly, that many of them are inacurate, judgemental, and fundamentally greedy, you will have found the key to understanding the way you feel. I know a lady who thought that everything she saw on TV was the only way to live. So her life has been one of frustration and wanting. This is why people advocate that we cannot control our thoughts, this is what our business world does not want us to do. You must be unhappy and want everything they promote and their EGO thrive and survive on that theory. Of course we all think, to say different is just stupid, but what we chose to think is our own business and having others tell us we must think this or that is unproductive. At least for them. Just now we can see the fruits of these thought beliefs in our country, why would we need huge homes, fully furnished to make us happy?

Obama & the Race Card
margrace replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Remember The Cosby Show, well on Oprah, when all the children from the show were her guests, there were several questions. One was about the objections to the show and yes it appears that a lot of people were upset because they believed at that time that there were no middle class black families. This was not only white people but Black people as well. The answer was that certainly there were people comparable to the people on the show, they just kept a low profile. This show did a lot to help give the young black people of the US something to strive for and the directive was, get an education. Perhaps this is something that is driving the Obama campaign today, this show said yes you can do it. -
Yes within each of us is grace/presence and EGO, the way to use this knowledge is to think before I say something and ask myself if this is EGO replying. Or one can be by themselves and these worrisome thoughts come into ones mind. The idea is to acknowledge them but not let them have any control, just go back to watching your breath come in and out. When we give into EGO/thoughts we lose the serenity and peace within ourelves. Years ago I heard someone say the if people are content then nothing will get done.
