  1. I think this may be the very first time I've agree with you on any subject.
  2. Are they outside the law in Iraq? Why doesn't she pursue her claim of rape there in criminal courts?
  3. That alone should literally eliminate some of those pesky underclass types. Natural selection, eh?
  4. So access to the vaccine is determined by ability to pay? God Bless America.
  5. I have no problem with MPs earning $150K per year, seems reasonable for that job. The pensions are over the top though, both in qualifying so easily and in the amount paid for life. They should change to a common private sector model, where both the MP and employer pay a prescribed amount annually into a self managed RRSP, which is portable. That way, the MP would not be penalized too harshly for leaving whatever their career had been in the interest of public service. The public would not be paying exorbitant lifetime pensions for a few years service. The amount paid by the employer could be linked to a key economic indicator, such as the deficit. That way, every MP would have an actual personal interest in making sure that efficiency was paramount rather than the typical partisan wankathon we see now in the Commons. No deficit, bonus paid. Have a deficit, no bonus paid. In the private sector, corporate pension contributions are often linked to profitability.
  6. early last week, they also announced a clinic for flu-only sickies in Edmonton. All of this has been made moot by the announcement that all clinics will now revert to immunizing high-risk groups only until more vaccine was available.
  7. I do not ask for or request to be 'allowed' to be armed, I'll do it anyway. If that makes me a criminal, so be it.
  8. They are opening another 11 sites, a couple of weeks of lineups and it will be largely done.
  9. The USA had reportedly only produced 40 million doses of vaccine, should I come armed and ready to kill for mine?
  10. Not one person in one hundred under age forty would have name recognition of Al Waxman, so I'd dispute he was well known. My reference to him was intended sarcastically. You did get my point right though, the CBC was not responsible for CanCon, the CRTC obliged all carriers inclduing CBC to carry Candiuan artists and shows no matter how painfully, desperately lame they were. You'll note that Loverboy got played one hell of a lot more here than they did in the US. Did the CBC make them famous?
  11. I agree that they have been able to adapt, whichever way the wind blows, they will just turn with it. It has served them well. I disagree that there is any need to supply a 'direction'. Chretien won three majorities by supplying nothing of the sort at any time, and he was quite proud of that. The country does not need to 'move', it can demonstrably drigft aimlessly and get along with little or no political direction. The prpoblem for the Liberals - a growing, immense problem- is that Mr Harper has apparently paid newfound attention to the Liberal style and is emulating it... bad news for Ignatieff and his successors.
  12. Perhaps, but CBCs national weather report serves to crush Palestinian aspirations.
  13. Yeah, Al Waxman sure became an international superstar.
  14. I'm not the one making threats from the safety of your mothers basement.
  15. Blubber, I made a lighthearted joke, which was met with a threat. Try and relax.
  16. "Well known"? Cancon as executued by the CBC has done nothing for Canadian television, except drive away their own viewers through the crushing weight of crap produced. CBC didn't make Canadian artsist well known here, it was legislation by the govt that applied to every carrier, not just the CBC. CanCon has had no impact on people outside Canada listening to Canadian music, and neither has CBC except for a remarkably small number of international hits..
  17. No question that I have bias. Do you actually believe that any media outlet can avoid bias? Yes, every Sunday morning you can hear it. All that is required is to listen dispassionately. The book on blatant bias though, now departed after 30 years at CBC, was written by Jason Moscovitz. Chretien appointed him to a safe porkbarrel job in 2002 after a lifetime of being ignorant on-air to anybody but Liberals. His heirs, some named here, have learned well.
  18. The system of providing entertainment and news to a few Candians at the expense of all Canadians will be changed, so enjoy it while you can. It isn't defence, foreign policy, environment....it is news and entertainment. In the early days, the CBC was the only source, now they are only one of many, many sources. I have been to Pakistan, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Very friendly, outgoing people. Except the ones who want to saw your head off. ??? That is one option available to government, but their prioroties and provions of services and emans of service delivery change all the time. Programs come and go. You'd best get used to that idea, the CBCs days in its current form are numbered.
  19. Oh my, Mr Passive Aggressive making threats now......... new style? Getting hair implants too?
  20. whhooooosssssshhhhh......
  21. Sooner or later the Supreme Court will have to address the question of whether living in Manitoba is by itself a cruel and unuusual punishment, with or without the prison walls.
  22. Suspension or firing is not the question at hand, those are workplace issues to be resolvedf by her employer. The question is : did a criminal assault take place? The answer is clearly 'yes'. The intentions of the TA are not relevant.
  23. It is utterly impossible for any news organization to not have a bias. Let me repeat that: impossible. You may hate that, but it is reality. I invite you to listen with an objective ear. It is very difficult but can be done with some self discipline. Would you like some examples of shows that exhibit their bias every time out? The House. The Current. Q. Cross Country Checkup. Sunday Edition Special mention goes to Michael Enright, who not only openly hates anything to do with the current government but also openly and candidly hates Americaq and Americans, though he has been confused rather badly by the election of Obama. Another shout out to CCC, where nearly all callers of the wrong stripe are weeded out by the producers before they get on air. They do allow the occasional loon through to embarass himself, but opposing (read non left) callers with reasoned and considered comments are not welcome or permitted as callers or guests. You don't even have to listen carefully to hear that bias. And given that every organization has bias, what is to be done? Supporters of the free provision of their propaganda insist nothing be done, since the status quo suits them. I personally have no problem to the existence of the bias or the existence of the CBC. I simply do not wish to pay for it. If you love it, get out your wallet.
  24. Oh, and a question for you. I support same sex marriage, abortion on demand, public education, universal access to health care and I do not love Jesus. I also voted for Harper more than once. Am I a conservative?
  25. Almost 30% absenteeism today at my spouses elementary school, up from about 5 % a week ago. Nobody knows if it is H1N1, takes a few days to confirm the strain.
