Thanks Greg. It is good to know I’m not losing my mind .

I just tried to post on a thread about the person who leaked a CSIS report on Chinese interference in Canadian elections but the thread has vanished, or am just imagining things?

I like the CBC. Rather than building pipelines, build reactors around the world. We have the Saudi Arabia of nuclear fuel in western Canada. I agree with you on immigration. We need to reduce our population.

So, are you advocating an assassination against Putin? The only way out is for Ukraine to defeat Russia. A negotiated peace will not work. Russia will just re-arm and try again. Appeasment didn’t stop Hitler. It won’t stop Putin. Canada’s role in the war is not the problem. Whether we support Ukrainian independence and democracy or side with Russian tyranny. Or, if I understand you correctly, we should turn our backs on the people fighting against tyranny on our behalf because if Russia is successful in crushing Ukrainian democracy and independence, she will do it to someone else an eventually we will be at war with Russia.

People complain about carbon taxes and then complain about the deficit. How do you cut the deficit without revenues? Governments can only cut services so much. Provinces need transfers for the services they provide. On this forum we say we need a viable military but even here, nobody is willing to pay for it. The economy is being slammed on one side by the pandemic and on the other side with the war. Soon, we will have to build hundreds of nuclear power plants, and rebuild and electrify the rail network.

Cdnfox, since no government could get elected on a platform you propose, let alone survive in office, you need an unelected government to force rationing and a reduced standard of living. It is my understanding that the carbon tax in BC has had a positive effect. Debt can be paid down. Finance Minister Martin made a sizeable dent on the debt after inheriting Wilson’s ballooning deficits, only to have the Harper government fritter away all the progress. In order to pay down the deficits, governments need to raise taxes. All this is moot now because the cost of responding to the climate crisis will dwarf anything we have ever experienced. Over time, the revenues from transitioning to a global nuclear power network will gradually pay down the debt. Unfortunately, we will also be adjusting to an influx of tens of millions of climate refugees. apologizing for the rambling. Need coffee…

A couple of points: our resources don’t just belong to us. They belong to future generations. We need to cut greenhouse gas emissions dramatically. The carbon tax is an attempt to begin that process. In order to provide the services Canadians want, governments need money. The problem is, everyone wants something for nothing. We want the services but we don’t want to pay the taxes.
-
The answer of course is nuclear power. We have wasted 40 years while we have used up the resources our future generations needed to survive.

What is the purpose of grocery store? To make money. What is the purpose of a fuel company? To make money. What is the purpose of a delivery driver? To make money. If you own something that people want, you are going to sell it for as much money as you can get. The people who own the gasoline are not a charity any more than you are.
-
One factor no one has mentioned is the fuel is owned by various companies. It is their gasoline and their right to ask whatever the market will bear. That is free enterprise.

I guess I’m naive. I was always under the impression that members of the military were supposed to follow orders and do what they were told. If a soldier is allowed to refuse to obey orders over something as trivial as being vaccinated against a disease, what good are they when they are ordered to face actual danger in combat.

I have to ask how could we support nine billion people in space and how could we transport them there? I know you aren’t serious, but it is a fun idea. -
Trudeau's Communist Regime sets new horizon

As they used to say, what colour is the sun on your planet. If you want good, objective international news on line, go to NRK. For a different perspective, the English language Daily Dawn from Pakistan is interesting. If you only read sources that support your own views, you deny yourself the chance to grow. Belief that you are right all the time is both arrogant and folly. I should know. ? -

Why don’t you buy a newspaper? Let’s say you have a company that makes hubcaps. When a big Chinese, American or Russian company comes into your business and takes your stock and sells it without paying you, would you be okay with that? -

The giant American propaganda machines are stealing the work of Canadian journalists. C 18 is a measure to stop the theft of Canadian product. West is supporting foreign plagerists. -

When we reach that point, (we may have already), money will be the least of our problems. You are so right. -
First, while I refuse to call you a liar, you are incorrect when you call me a liberal voter. This is part of the email with the link. Your retraction is not necessary. Derailment of democracy

As I said, not according to American patriots. They are pretty adamant. I would have thought Reason 10 would know that. -

Cdnfox, you referred to JTrudeau’s GST. It was Mulroney’s GST. It took a lot of political will to bring that in. If you believe I am wrong then let me know where I have erred. Where you invest in a GIC, the bank lends that money out to businesses. If I invest in a business directly and it fails, I lose my money. With a GIC, my investment is safe. -

But that is not the way patriots see it. I’ve been flamed so often over that, I should pay rent at the burn unit. -

You are wrong about one thing. The United States is not a democracy. It is a Republic. I have been flamed more than once by American patriots for calling the US a democracy. I thought you claimed to be a patriot but your post is just woke propaganda. -
I received an email this morning from CPC thanking me for my support. They asked me w fill out a survey. One of the questions was about foreign interference in our elections. At the end of the survey, they asked for my contact details and prominently displayed was an American flag. Someone in Mr. Poilievre’s office is either really stupid or his office has been infiltrated by Americans. You expect this kind of liberal thinking from politicians like MacKenzie King, Preston Manning or John Manley but it has no place in a Conservative Party.
