Correction... you keep being caught misrepresenting statistics, misquoting people, and attributing to other people positions that clear they don't have. But I stand corrected... I thought you were the pot calling the kettle black... I should have realized I was dealing with the whole kitchen.

The Conservatives have opened a Pandora box. If they back down on this, they will be lucky if they retain even one seat in the Quebec City area comes the enxt election. If they go ahead... Winnipeg and south-central Ontario are two other prospective NHL markets, and they will want money for an arena too... Then comes the CFL: some stadiums will have to be replaced sooner or later, Toronto needs a stadium that fits the needs, and the league is constantly musing about a return in Otawa, or a team in Halifax, if not Quebec City as well. And how about towns with junior hockey team?

It won't change one simple fact - I didn't say people on this thread made such claims because nobody on this thread made such claims. You won't get it. Now, it is a fact that one person (namely kimmy) has introduced the issue of the treatment of women in the debate. Nope, she hasn't made the claims I didn't say anyone has made. But if she believes it's relevant, then she is welcome to show why it is relevant. You will not get it. Until then, as I do not consider it relevant, I'm not talking about it further.

And let's not forget one unavoidable fact - it would have taken hundreds, perhaps thousands of people to pull that one off (and in such a clumsy way, btw, that about anybody is supposed to be able to spot the U.S. government hand in less than 10 minutes). Yet, none of the conspirators ever felt a sense of guilt and confessed to his role. None has double-corssed his paymasters for money, fame, revenge, or whatever. That being said, the issue of the situation of women in some Muslim countries is also irrelevant when talking about the Cordoba Centre. She should have spent the past five to ten years finding somebody that can step in as a mayor and continue her polotics, and groom that person for the job. Actually, the course in question is about a religion-based system of economic transaction,s not a religion course, not even a course ABOUT religion per say. So unless one can demonstrate that a no-interest-loan banking system is contrary to our laws, or undermining our society - and one would have to go way down the path of lillogical thinking to come with such a demonstration - the claim that the course is wrong or dangerous or seditious is illofical at best, and plainly ridiculous at worse. As for the "the charter is not a suicide pact" line, interesting that it comes usually as a justification for measures that actually undermine what we have achieved as a free society. The Islamists are not gonna win with bomb, they are not gonna win with numbers. If they ever win (which is doubtful), it will be because we will have jettisoned our freedoms ourselves to the tune of "the Constitution is not a suicide pact".

BTW, did anyone said or implied that things are "as bad"? Nope. But I guess it's not a good idea to point that there are still people in our societies who have not evolved.
