Atleo calls for end of Indian Act within five years
Bryan replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I like it. Abolish the act, and remove the distinction between aboriginals and everyone else. What's done is done, it's time to move on. -
Count me as one who's never seen these wait times. Not for me or my family. We've always gotten remarkably fast service, almost always a lot quicker than I'm expecting. Last trip to emergency saw me taken right in, assessed, stitched up, and back in my car in under an hour. Last incident of low back pain got me a same day specialist appointment, a one hour wait for x-rays, and a two day wait for an MRI. I wrote about some of my previous experiences in this thread: http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=9417&st=180&p=235517entry235517 The only things that have changed for me since I wrote that is The Provincial NDP took over Pan Am Sports Medicine Clinic and turned it into a geriatric care centre. That's OK though, because Legacy Sports stepped up to fill that gap, and they're providing as good if not better service than Pan Am ever did.

The Silver Covenant Chain Treaty 1710 is alive.
Bryan replied to charter.rights's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So when are the eviction notices going to be enforced then? -

So why have they not revoked those corporate rights then? They abandoned their claim by not doing anything. Corporations lose their rights all the time if they don't defend them. Even land owners under the modern system lose all rights to land they have actual deeds to if they leave it for even a couple of years. Leave it for a couple of HUNDRED years? Sorry, it's simply not yours anymore... go away. -

It's not having it both ways. What we presently hold as those borders is what they actually are, regardless of what any past treaty might say. That they might still correspond is coincidence. -

How is it that all those other people were able to settle there then? -

A ceremonial Head of State honouring a treaty signed before Canada even existed as a country. Great for a photo-op, I guess. To extrapolate that it actually means anything tangible seems like a bit of a stretch to me. -
While the points you made may pertain to some members of these forums, the problem in this thread is it most certainly does not apply to to specific people that you were attacking. When you falsely apply inflammatory labels to people, don't feign surprise when poeple don't want to listen to what you're saying. In your self-appointed victory speech, you again falsely cry "socialist". That means not only do YOU lose, but you don't even get a copy of the home game.

Rather than looking at the economy or the polls, I'd rather see the Conservatives go for an election based on the condition of the Liberal Party. Wait until a bout of particularly fractious infighting (perhaps during a leadership review) to torpedo them when they are unable to mount a useful campaign.

I like the change. Which is exactly how I felt about the census. The long form usually is loaded with "none-of-your-business" questions, so it SHOULD be voluntary, and the short form contains questions they already have the answers to on my tax form, so it's just redundant.

Senior NDPer denies Israel's right to exist
Bryan replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
IDF's use of white phosphorus on civilians is well documented. It is a violation of the Geneva Convention. Again, where did she say that she denies Israel's right to exist? Not in the video, not in her blog. Where? -
No doubt about it, it's not easy for Cubans to get permission to leave the country. Plenty of people want to move to Cuba too, that's not very easy to get permission for either. Both do happen though. I know a few Canadians who now are Cuban residents living on Isla de la Juventud. I also spoke to several Cuban nationals who got permission to leave Cuba, some of whom had already left and returned.

Senior NDPer denies Israel's right to exist
Bryan replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Her blog entries go back to June 2004. Lots of posts about Israel/Palestine (especially her time spent in Gaza), do you see any of them denying Israel's right to exist? -
People leave Canada and the US for other countries in large numbers every year. No one place is what everybody wants. Besides, I never said it was utopia. We each could learn things from the other.

Bryan replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It pains me to no end to defend any NDPer (never mind an extreme lefty like Ms. Davies), but you are seriously misrepresenting her position, and willfully ignoring readily available instances of her making that position perfectly clear. http://www.libbydavies.ca/ -
Talking to actual Cubans in Cuba about their life and living conditions, as well as spending time traveling through the country gives me some actual first hand knowledge of what's going on there. What's your source of knowledge for Cuba? Reading a third-hand editorial from a disgruntled Miami ex-pat? I certainly never saw a need or reason to, but many people spoke openly about the government while I was there.
-
I've spent time in Cuba, have you?
-
Cuba has certainly made some mistakes, but they do a lot of things better than we do. There would be lessons to be learned on both sides.

So you still think you have human right and freedom?
Bryan replied to bjre's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No. Cops have a very difficult job to do, dealing with all kinds of crap. Riots and burning cars have already resulted from these "peaceful protests". Stay home. Choose to go down there and get cute, and you deserve whatever happens to you. -

Bryan replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's YOUR only conclusion, but it's still a false conclusion. -

Bryan replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not at all. There's a huge difference between objecting to how they operate and denying their right to exist. -

"Peacefully Protesting" is writing a letter, not joining a crowd of rioters in a situation that has a history of getting out of hand. People know what the anti-G8/G20 mobs get like. People also know that the organizers were so concerned that they spent a lot of money on security. If you went there, and did not disperse when asked, anything that happens to you was your own doing. -
56% of Canadians are anti-semites!

You should take your own advice and actually read a book or two. -

Unmitigated bullshit. The ethnic cleansing by the Israelis were the start of the conflict. If Israel had respected the Palestinian's right to exist and to remain in their ancestral homes that they had occupied continuously for centuries, they could have avoided most of the problems we see today. Instead they took the attitude of "this is ours, you get out" and proceeded to bulldoze those homes. You'd have attacked them too. -

I've read plenty of books on the subject, I just tend to avoid the Zionist propaganda.
