Instead of cutting the GST, why didn't the feds just giver the provinces the amount created by the 1%?

No one complained when Petro-Canada or Air Canada was privatized.

Just throwing an idea out there for you guys to debate. Should the federal government privatize Canada Post? Privatization was good for Petro-Canada, turning the once bloated and ineffecient crown corporation into a world renown money making company. Canada Post is one of the least effiecent crown corporations the federal government has, with workers being overpaid at their jobs and not being productive enough. Plus, privatizing Canada Post would make it non-partisan.

I would vote for John McCain.

We don't need Bill O'Reilly telling us what we should or should not do. I think the thing there is having patience with other people who of course have different points of view than you. But you shouldn't hate them. If someone disagrees with you, then it's "Oh, they don't agre with me" and you move on. Not "I hate them because they don't disagree with me".

Don't milk the race issue. What is the issue here is that the natives are disobeying court orders and the law. This can not stand, even if the group are different than us.

It is not the Ontario government's fault. It is the natives's fault, it is they who are living in total anarchy and reckless neglect of the law and court orders. It is they who threaten the people of Caledonia with violence and threaten violence to the OPP if they are pushed out. How can the Ontario government negotiate with these people? The natives only want media attention because no one cares about their problems. If you have a problem, bring it up with the Ontario government but don't infringe on other people's right to walk around safe, free of the fear of being beaten. The natives are making the situation worse because now the people of Caledonia getting less sympathetic to the natives'ss needs. My friend's dad's co-worker was beaten by natives in Caledonia when he was walking on the street. I would take a poll and I would think most people are un sympathetic to the natives. The Ontario government must obey the rule of law, and send in the OPP, and if necessary the army from the feds.

Because people are used to 15% tax, so there is no reason to raise it by 2%.

Most economists in the election said the 1% GST cut was a dumb idea, they put more emphasis on income tax cuts. With the 1% PST rise, the extra revenue from that will help finance such things as income tax cuts.

You're not saving any big amount of money wit the 1% GST cut, but your province might need the extra money generated from that 1 extra PST percent to fund such things as income tax cuts, infrastructure.

There is such thing as the Laffer curve.

-Since the 1% GST will not make a huge difference, maybe the provinces should raise the PST to make them more revenue that would otherwise might be lost. -Make more casinos -Raise taxes on fast food, cigarettes, alcohol, SUVs.

They should stop complaining. At least they are being rescued at all.
