The Silver Covenant Chain Treaty 1710 is alive.

Simple question for you Moonbox: Can the Crown sieze your real property, without your consent, and hand it over to a First Nation as part of a land claims settlement? -

When the NY Times is carrying the story to an substantial degree in 3 months you'll have your narrative. In the meantime, all you got is histrionics. -

So what? I mean really Bonam - a "thug?" Behaves "like" one? If he was trying to give some dude a blow job through a hole in an airport bathroom stall, gets caught and then lies about it, maybe that "news." But behaves "like" a thug? Surrrrrrre... -
Cottages for sale on Native Lands? Serious Question.
Shwa replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Travel, Leisure and Sports
Please do Mr. Rest-Of-Us. Why not start a class action suit against the government or justice system or, better yet, "the natives." Do it and then come back and tell us how you made out. I, for one, would like - just for once - for a Mr. Rest-Of-Us just like you to actually do something about it instead of whining about it all the time. Participate, stand up and be counted, be proactive. Can't because you lack the resources, the money or the power to actually effect a change to something that really, really bothers you? That would mean you are actually Mr. Ineffectual. In that case, your whimpering is wholly justified. -
Democrat Congressman Verbal Assault

He swore at a constituent?? OH-MY-GAWD! How dare he! He used a swear word! Where's the soap?!? At least he wasn't trying to "love" one of his constituents with an unwelcome blowjob like these other guys. I guess when you work against the will of the people you get busted for giving unwelcome blowjobs to other men. Or this guy, right team, wrong age group. But that is beside the point: A Democrat made a swear! -

MSNBC covered it? Whoa, full stop! That changes everything. Pffff. Even Bill O'Reilly says, "people lie on MSNBC every day." Really, who can you trust these days anyways? -

Being the unbiased, unpartisan and unprejudicial person you are kimmy, I was hoping you might tell me. But you might have to source a former employee or two. Better yet, in the sense of fairness, what blatant US voter intimidation acts have never been prosecuted over the years? I am sure google can help you with that. What is the issue really? That justice is blind or that justice is carrying scales or both; or that an former DOJ employee made an "allegation?" -

Cottages for sale on Native Lands? Serious Question.
Shwa replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Travel, Leisure and Sports
Hmmm... does absolution of our father's sin also absolve us of our father's agreements? The key idea is to do your homework. There are some reserve lands that I would not hesitate to recommend for a leased land cottage. Others, not so much. But I am not wholly afamiliar with the territory Mr. Canada is looking at and I am not, nor wish to be, a real estate agent. -
You'd have to ask MightyAC to whom the post was directed:

Slight correction kimmy: According to a former employee. (or employees if we include both Adams and Coates) If you want to hear the 'truth behind' Canadian bureaucracy and justice, spend some time in Ottawa seeking out the fascinating stories of former employees. You would be amazed... Here is Adams blog to see more details. He is busy arranging more scheduled radio appearances. Here is an editorial from the Washington Times. Regardless if there is traction with this story or not - and by the above editorial you will get a sense as to why the NY Times, Post, CBS or NBC can't be bothered - this story has generated revenue for Fox, Adams and the Washington Times. So it isn't all bad. -
Another typical example of a lictarded response. I give him a link to the Temporary Foreign Workers page at Human Resources and he responds with a fearsome Fraser Institute report on mass immigration. Wooo, thaths pretty thcary. Not to mention that temporary foriegn workers are brought in "to fill immediate skills and labour shortages" but they spend their money in Canadian stores (sales tax), pay their room and board to Canadians and help Canadian farms generate wealth. No specious reasoning here, just another blowhard tripping in his drool trying to make a fearsome point. A white Canadian hating himself. What, is that some sort of new theory you are working on in between shock treatments?

Excellent topic MG. I suppose it depends on what you mean by "great minds." Despite their politics or shabby attempts at personal popularizing, all four party leaders are pretty smart guys. And there are some pretty smart cookies in the rank and file of all parties. Most of them have the educational credentials to prove they can make intelligent choices and given the complexities of running a country so vast and practically empty they do a decent job in the long run. Sure some of them make poor choices and say things where you have wonder if that is them talking or the glue, but overall I like where I live. But is a smart guy/gal a "great mind?"

Shwa replied to lukin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Oh there are political optics and a perception of bias in DOJ's decision no doubt about that, but there is difference between insubstantial and inconsequential. I am saying that there is not enough traction in this issue to provide the impetus for, say, another Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Prevention Act which, as I understood, was partly to respond to disenfranchised voters in previous elections. If there is that sort of drive to actually do something about it, well wouldn't that be delicious irony (Brit-speak) since it was a dear pet issue a few years ago to an Illinois senator who happens to be President now... -
After a certain point MightyAC it all comes across as you trying to convince yourself of something and we are the re-assurance you are seeking. Is that infinitesimally small probability that God exists acting like the thin edge of the wedge for you or are you eventually going to come around and tell us what answers you have found and actually attempt to define your position?

If the "meaning of being canadian" has produced the likes of you, we have quite a bit more diluting of meaning to do. Other than the thousands of foreign workers we bring in because the meaning-of-canadian Canadians are afraid to get their hands dirty and pick cabbages and apples.

The literal equivelent to a long sticky drool down the front of your shirt. Come back when you can be coherent instead of a raving lunatic for saying lictarded stuff like this: Riiiight. Did you pee your pants when you wrote that? Wait, I don't really want to know... -

Big deal. As if DOJ attorney's don't resign for all kinds of reasons. For all we know he had some sort of endorsement deal with the hysterical Tea Party gang. If this is an issue in 6 months, even 3 months, then you can call it substantial. Until then a mere curiousity... The issue isn't about making two wrongs right, it is about comprehending the background to why this is even thought of as something even remotely worthy of serious attention in these times. I can see why it would be for someone like you though, so no worries there. -

Shwa replied to lukin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
There is no substance to the story. The MLB All-Star game is more important. You mean IF there was any prosecution. You are one of those that needs to crack open a history book and develop a sense of background. -
The New Black Panthers/Voter Intimidation
Shwa replied to lukin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No, it is a story that will have very little influence in the long run and lead to nowhere and no care. It will eventually be assimilated into all the other voter intimidation incidents and make a list like the ones I posted above. However, you are absolutely correct to comment that "people have the right to know what is behind this story." I would suggest they dust off the history and books and get cracking. Do you think this is actually going to happen do you? Too bad the Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Prevention Act never made it past the Senate eh? I am sure this little factoid was widely reported by FOX yes? You know when they did the big investigative report on Pappageorge's comments? You remember that don't you? -
The New Black Panthers/Voter Intimidation
Shwa replied to lukin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No, it isn't a joke because it is basically a non-story everywhere else with the exception of the pandering FOX. Voter intimidation by a couple of black guys, one of which is carry a billy club, and you create a false opposition with "bubbas" in confederate t-shirts? Nice stab at the double-standard argument again kimmy. If anything you are at least consistent. For every case you can cite about a couple of black guys "intimidating" at a polling station, can be countered with dozens, if not hundreds, cases of white (and sometimes black) intimidation of black voters over the years. You missed the Jim Crow reference as an impetus for social perspective, but that isn't anything new is it? Why were the NBPP members there? To ensure that black voters were not themselves intimidated. And why did they think they would be? A hundred fifty years of experience that's why? Did FOX news do reports on these recent cases? How about these incidents, do you remember the big FOX investigation about all these incidents? -
Developer charged in razing of 118 moraine trees
Shwa replied to Shwa's topic in Local Politics in Canada
This is true because we should be living in an era of assembly line McJustice right? No, this is the Oak Ridges Moraine we are talking about and not some 12 year old brownfield in Hamilton. Hundreds of other developers can abide by the OMB timing requirements and are thoughtful enough to tread carefully when it comes to development on sensitive and protected lands. And further when the local population has already said no to the development. -
I can assure you that if heroin had no physiological and emotional effects, there would be no heroin addiction. Heroin addicts keep shooting up because they have faith that the effects will be there when they go through the ritual of shooting up. William James makes an interesting use of this type of analogy in 'Varieties of Religious Experience' when he compares the yearnings for that anagogic 'spiritual' effect being relieved through the use of alcohol aka 'spirits.' So I would liken the anagogic affect to the sensational aspect of any mind altering substance and I would also extend that effect to include an interpretation of any literature or art form, including music. Now logically explain to an active heroin addict that the object of their faith is incorrect, wrong, unreal or cannot be disproven. Use unicornism to illustrate your point. See if they readily abandon their smack for the effects of your correct and true logic. I don't think they would do you? Which leads us back to the modern masses of faithful who, facing a life of uncertainty, nothingness, fear and loathing, well, as Roger Waters sang: Far away across the field The tolling of the iron bell Calls the faithful to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spells. In Edit: You are absolutely correct. But in the grand scheme of things whether the objects of the myth are true or not is irrelevant. It is not such a stretch to suspend belief to involve ourselves in a good drama or mystery, especially when we find that involvement pleasurable, meaningful or comforting.

Rats, I was hoping for Lindsey Deluce of CP24 in Toronto. Not only one of the prettiest faces on TV, a perfect voice and professional delivery, but an adventurous brainiac to boot!
