  1. paid handsomely? Published ACTRA union rates are readily available; however, full time work isn't... isn't anywhere near available. I'll let you update my 2009 dated figure of ~$12,000 yearly for members with performance income. Handsomely? What kind of, as you say, job-security do you envision members of ACTRA have? can we put you down in the column of wanting better/more CanCon? .
  2. there was described internal dissent at both party conventions... as I read it the biggest concerns within the Liberal Party convention reflected upon the 'open-party membership change and new party constitution' - which was significantly over-publicized dissent given only 66 Liberal Party members voted against the changes (just 3% of the total vote). Should I let you describe the stated dissent at the Conservative Party convention... some might say it was related to the LGBTory faction's initiative - yes? what, as you say, 'everything said about Harper'... didn't come true? .
  3. do Jews control American media... and if so, to what end... and why would it/they have concerns over such a self-declared 'great friend of Israel' as Trump? Isn't it Trump who has stated, "I’m very close to Israel . . . very close. I have a great relationship, very close"; who has claimed to be, "a lifelong supporter and true friend of Israel,"; who declares, "he will be very good to Israel", etc.. .
  4. the current poll results are dramatically above and beyond campaign-end and immediate post-election results - for now, those results speak to a most significant majority of Canadians approving of the current leader/party of governance. Your projected 'crash' must be held in balance to your projection that called for a Harper Conservative majority election win. Your comment on Harper's decision making is the absolute antithesis to the oft repeated insistence of Harper supporters that he wasn't making decisions in dictatorial isolation. .
  5. the continued posting of Numeris ratings shows the Canadian Broadcasting Act (and the CRTC regulator) have showcased grounds to support the mandated direction to encourage the development of Canadian expression through more CanCon! Thanks to the MLW member for reinforcing those grounds - well done. .
  6. each of the issues is thread worthy on its own. I hesitate to target any single issue... and put efforts to that end... to only see those efforts buried in short order by the 'catch-all' nature of this OP. The multiple issues, in themselves, will influence "the burying" - combine that with a 3-fold "off-topic and derail" opportunity and you've essentially hooped your own thread. .
  7. taking a status update PrimeTime: per the U.S. Centers for Disease Control: just released - Americans are fatter than ever! (note to moderators: I couldn't link this graphic directly as it is a part of image loaded scripting within the source article) Americans are significantly fatter than Canadians - studies typically show a 1/3 versus 1/4 disparity; e.g. study: 34% of Americans are obese as compared to 24% of Canadians. Why are Americans so much fatter than Canadians? why... within the original status update, one intrepid MLW member stated the disparity was due to "freedom"! .

Chips, donuts and fast food are pretty cheap in Canada too. There's definitely more to it than price of food.

  9. such a misguided and uninformed post from someone who presumes to be so knowledgeable on Canada/Canadians. The Canadian Content (CanCon) definition is so readily available... there's no need for you to conflate/confuse things with your quotation marks around... Canadian culture. - towards CanCon, the Canadian broadcasting system should encourage the development of Canadian expression by: Providing a wide range of programming that reflects Canadian attitudes, opinions, ideas, values, and artistic creativity Displaying Canadian talent in entertainment programming Offering information and analysis concerning Canada and other countries from a Canadian point of view of course, an element of that encouragement of Canadian expression is the Canada Media Fund, partially funded by Canadian cable, satellite and IPTV providers. It was Harper Conservatives in 2014 that put in motion the CRTC call to stakeholders, "seeking input on a new tax to level the playing field over concerns of foreign corporate 'giants' holding advantage". That overall feedback received helped to shape some of the March 2015 changes/decisions the CRTC made concerning CanCon. as for the so-called initially considered 'Netflix Tax', that was intended to have foreign entities also contribute to the Canada Media Fund, as Canadian cable, satellite and IPTV providers do. And yes, CBC/Radio-Canada was among those calling for this related regulation of online video services... along with the likes of the Canadian Media Production Association, the Director's Guild of Canada, the Alliance Of Canadian Cinema Television & Radio Artists (ACTRA), etc.. .
  10. stop the madness! Abacus Data - just released: SIX MONTHS AFTER ELECTION, PM TRUDEAU WELL REGARDED BY MOST CANADIANS • At the top of the list of positive perceptions: “he projects a good image of Canada around the world” (79%), “he’s intelligent” (85%) he”sets a good example for young people in Canada” (77%), “genuinely cares about other people” (81%), “works hard at his job (81%) tries to do the right thing for the country” (86%), “open to new ideas, willing to listen to others” (78%). • Slightly less positive ratings for the PM were for “knows how to lead” (69% agree), and “setting the right priorities for the country” (64%) “personal values are similar to my own” (62%) .
  11. ya think! Of course the Shady member himself said as much... and then, in turn, applied the same rationale towards Clinton. Shady did; he did that. The issue the member Shady doesn't like is acknowledging it was the Trump blusterBus that set in motion this past weeks events... first agreeing to debate Sanders on the Jimmy Kimmel show (Wednesday). Everything else flowed from there, including the ransom amount Trump subsequently set before he would participate. The member Shady clearly doesn't like the sequence of events highlighted and the result emphasized when Trump's bluff was called. Man-baby down! .
  12. purrfect! Notwithstanding you said "outlets"... the plural of... you should actually read your article cause all it does is speak to yet another Trump retreat: "The Trump campaign was initially very interested, according to Fox officials, and the Sanders campaign was on board. But before the debate could be announced, the Trump campaign pulled out, citing scheduling conflicts". your last sentence makes no sense as it was Clinton who then "backfilled" for the chickenMan Trump! Keep it coming Shady... you're the gift that keeps giving! .
  13. citation request - I call BS on your continued deflection away from the man-baby's bluff being called. I will direct you back to the sequence of events described per this waldoPost: .
  14. neither your earlier post or this one adds anything new... or definitive. Your "suggesting" from that article is based on posed questions and conjecture within the article. Suggest you ask your team to dig more, dig harder. My reference is from the Private's 75th battalion's own post-war publication. . diplomacy? The event was a lead-up to Irish independence... it did include the first proclamation of an Irish Republic. These British soldiers being commemorated at the event Canadian ambassador Vickers attended, were a part of the British force response that resulted in the deaths of 350 civilians and 'rebels'... are you aware of any commemoration event for those deaths... and whether or not Canadian ambassador Vickers will be in like attendance? Diplomacy, right... something about appearances - yes? Vickers action was not that of a diplomat! you keep nattering on about PIRA threat levels raised as some validation for Vickers' irresponsible action... in that regard, concerns reflect upon a strong possibility - termed "highly likely", of mainland attacks in England, Scotland or Wales. And if you're purposely avoiding full disclosure, that raised threat level is still less than the existing designated, "severe" level threat, to the entire UK from international terrorism. In that context I trust a short-lease will be kept on Vickers to ensure he doesn't go, "all Rambo", over some perceived international terrorist threat he comes upon! .
  15. no - that motion wasn't a formal policy acceptance of SSM... that ~70% of Conservative Party members voted for the so-called "neutral" position that simply had Conservatives remove the definition of marriage (as between a man and a woman), from the Conservative Party of Canada's policy document. .
  16. the whole premise, as you say, was promulgated by Trump himself; from weeks of lead-up references in relishing a chance to debate Clinton... and Sanders. That culminated this week, Wednesday, with Trump initially setting in motion a debate to have occurred tonight, Sunday; with Trump setting a condition for a charitable donation of $10-$15 million before he would participate, with Sanders agreeing to debate, with multiple U.S. television networks lobbying to organize/host/operate the debate, to multiple offers to meet Trump's ransom amount. Again, Trump had his bluff called and he very quickly did an about-face, Friday, feverishly backpedaling away. And most certainly, the whole Trump shyte-show was covered by all segments of the U.S. mainstream media. .
  17. it's your self-perpetuated circle! Again, you asked twice... I responded twice... I can re-quote those responses and make you look even more foolish - your call! .
  18. my crack research staff... wants to question/challenge your unsubstantiated statement. From research done and presented within the 'Canadian Expeditionary Force Study Group', it appears one Canadian soldier (Neville Nicolas Fryday) was killed; however, his Canadian Expeditionary Force, 75th Battalion Canadian Infantry was in England per WWI deployment preparations - he was born in Ireland and was home on leave... . in your opinion .
  19. oh really? What was Canada's role and the precursor to Canada's role in each of the events, the Irish 'Easter Rising' and the American Revolution, respectively? .
  20. again, are you DEEF man! How many times do I need to say, to you, I'm not a U.S. wannabe, like you... how many times do I have to say, to you, I could care less who gets the U.S. Democratic Presidential nomination? You continually, I will say purposely, misinterpret being anti-Trump as being pro-Hillary. Do you get it yet? Will you ever get it? .
  21. says the guy, YOU, throwing around the, "hand wringing, breathless, anguished, crying and corner cowering" summation of Canadian liberals response! You should actually read what you write sometime! .
  22. radical! Revolutionary! with ~30% still opposed to the motion... don't they know it's 2016? .
  23. if you're going to be the TrumpMan here, best you get in-step or no one will take you serious around here. .
  24. c'mon, Trump has toyed with debating Sanders for some weeks now... try some googlies to save yourself further embarrassment. And yes, Sanders has also been playing up debating Trump for some time - if nothing else, prodding on Trump and playing the media... just as Trump has done. It's certainly been more than your "story for a day"... this latest focus has been playing out now over 4 days. I've got CNN on in the background and they keeping beating on it! How do you think something like this gets the massive response it's had in a mere 4 days... if not fueled by Trump's own bravado and posturing? Everything lined up to the point Trump had no choice when his bluff was called - clearly Sanders would make Trump look the fool he is! .
  25. no! Not the 'CBC meme'... not again! Apparently you've missed some of the critical commentary from the CBC over recent months - why even on this very thread topic. (note to moderators: the on-topic hook) I trust CBC critiques have absolutely nothing to do with Harper having appointed 8 of the current 10 CBC Board members... all of whom have been confirmed as supporting the Conservative Party with monies. That would have been 9 out of 11 Board members, but the one guy resigned to run for the president of the Conservative Party (he the former treasurer of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and the former vice-president of the Conservative Party of Canada). yes, how surprising that this Harper appointed CBC board had nothing to say about Harper's cuts to the CBC, had nothing to say about Harper's direct intrusions into shuttering the CBC - from channeling a report from his hand-picked CBC Board to raise options/requirements to turn CBC into a commercial vehicle, to deciding to move forward immediately on one CBC Board recommendation to divest the CBC of its real-estate holdings. .
