  1. How is life not like that... we have limited resources... the pie constantly becomes smaller... and if someone takes a larger piece then someone else gets a smaller piece... I guess if you want to look at it as simply this generation, then yes pieces can be bigger without others having smaller pieces in the short run.... but if everyone grabs a big piece... whats left for the next generations to come? There has to be an end to the pie somewhere!
  2. No Canadians and Americans are just a bit more rational about it... instead of strapping bombs to themselves they load vans up with them and blow up buildings that way.
  3. I think that's a very temporary solution... and you can't catch all criminals... Illegal drugs create violent crime.... i don't see anyone shooting people over Tylenol, it just isn't profitable enough to kill someone over it. Legalization and regulation and education is a much better answer.... There are those who have psychological problems that should probably be put in correctional facilites... but for a lot of people they are down on their luck and illegal activities are a very enticing prospect. others see drugs as a huge profit... but if you made them legal and regulated the price would drop and organized crime would likely leave because there is no profit. I'm not saying drug lords should be not be put in prison... but that is not preventative... taking preventative measures are what is going to reduce crime in the long term.
  4. Your solution is stiffer justice... I gave you suggestions for solutions... Throwing money at more police officers and such is not going to stop this. I suppose you also believe that we should be tapping phone calls and putting cameras all over public and private areas in order to catch criminals and to stop terrorism?
  5. i know he was referencing the popular vote.... but that is what everyone seems to take into account... people don't seem to understand that we don't go by popular vote we go by seats in the house. Obviously you understand that... but there are a lot of people who don't. Those being the people who think the Coalition is undemocratic, when it is democratic. People have started to realize this, but have now turned to a different reason why they disagree, and that is because the Bloc is supporting up... i really think it comes down to being bitter that they are trying to "take over" from the conservatives. I don't know where to stand on this issue... and people are taking the US approach... you're either with us or against us....
  6. Except Liberals had a majority of seats... So there is a difference. I considered the conservatives back when they had a reasonable leader... namely joe clark.
  7. But then we'd all be bought out by the US... oh wait we already are.
  8. I think if Canada went to civil war it would be the most pitiful war in the history of man.... one side would have all the guns (alberta)... and the other side would have a massive amount of people to throw at alberta.... And then they would realize thats a really long boring walk/drive across Saskatchewan and give up...
  9. I think what happened is... Crime in general went down... but crime has become more violent.... I can take calgary for example... crime may be going down in general.. but there are more stabbings and shootings and violent crimes than there have been in many recent years.... Now to say that it is getting out of hand or is even close to anywhere else is a little exaggerated lol.
  10. I think a monkey could have taken us out of debt with what we had. So much for Alberta getting the benefit... we paid as much as anyone else did for fuel. I think we could have done better. Has paying off the debt got us that far ahead... i suppose it probably will pay off in the long run... we'll just have to wait and see for now.
  11. It may not be good for the economic system in the long run... but it works in the short term... and why does the businessman give a shit about long term when he's got his millions today... the economy bombs... he just leaves the country. I suppose we can talk about theoretical and hypothetical situations and beliefs, but corruption and greed are human nature and have really stunted the growth of either economic system.
  12. I wasn't trying to convince you... i really couldn't give a shit about what you think or have to say in all honesty.
  13. It was still a very strong in that time... Which begs the question... If we were able to get out of debt at $40/barrel where the hell is all this money going that we should have seen haev an impact when it was at $90+/barrel. You would also know that a lot of public funding was cut in the name of getting rid of the debt... maybe thats why albertans are so stupid
  14. I don't call myself Albertan because that's a ludicrous idea... I was born in Alberta, Raised in Alberta. Don't tell me to go back to Ontario. It seems to me all you care about is the money... otherwise you wouldn't care that they only care about the money.... I guess we could have become part of the united states back in the day rather than joining Canada... I'm sure you could find all sorts of reasons why each and every province was added to confederation... So i don't think there is much of an argument there... Why is anybody part of anything really?
  15. The illegality of drugs has a lot to do with it.... illegal stuff usually has a lot more value to it than legal things do... Drug trade is worth billions of dollars... As for young offenders, sentencing them adults is not going to do much. and to generalize and say they are all using the system is ludicrous... not to mention if they have enough evidence to support that this was fully meditated they have the ability to try them as adults. maybe parents need to be more responsible for their children's actions.. Maybe instead of stiffer justice we need a better education system... one that does not alienate students because they aren't as "smart" as other students.. and earlier on... more craftsman education along side academic education earlier on in life... such as junior high. Stiffer justice is a temporary solution that isn't going to solve anything... there has to be a line.... right now it's 18 years old... are you telling me you would be in favor of adult sentences for 10 year olds? Where do we draw the line.
  16. Most recently this coalition... thinking as if the conservatives have some divine right to lead the government even though they have a minority government. I'm speaking about the average albertan here... i'm sure there are many well educated people. It's not that they disagree... or maybe it is... they disagree on things that can't be disagreed on.... they debate things that are not debatable.... Of course "selfish pieces of garbage" by itself is not going to get an intelligent response... I would explain why they are... But then again this is mostly about rural albertans... I suppose i'll agree that the urban albertans are different. But they don't seem to be as loud mouthed and obnoxious as their rural counterpart... i could see this as being a reason why other Canadian provinces would see Alberta being this way. This is pointless.... i admit i went overboard on that post... i wasn't in line... but it does have its merits.
  17. You are forgetting everyone else who has to be used in order for success to happen... mcdonalds is a billion dollar business.. and their workers get paid minimum wage. If everyone deicded they wanted to succeed companies would fail because there would be no workers. I think you are forgetting the essential part of becoming successful in a capitalistic society.. you have to tread on the poor people... I'm not just thinking about canadians... i'm thinking about the world and the impoverty of the world... these guys spend their million on fancy cars and private jets and million dollar houses while people starve by the thousands in africa. You think there are any big businesses out there that hasn't exploited some resource or another? What gives them the right? This system does not give everyone the opportunity for success. As for Two Tier healthcare, Who is going to get the better treatment... the hospital funded by the million dollar businessman, or the public hospital funded by the government? Not to mention when Ralph Klein wanted to have 2 tier system... he still wanted the private system to be funded by the government.
  18. I read your article... and as far as i can see they aren't shutting down everything... they are just not allowing as much of it to be rampant and wherever they please... Which is why cybercoma said my point should have been about how it is not very regulated.. The last part of my post was a joke... don't know if you got that..
  19. Based on the oil industry... which isn't going to be around forever and is quite inefficient... have fun. First out of debt... its hard not to when you are making multiple billions off a very high OIL price.... and if you looked into it further you would see that they crushed some people to get there. But you know that's cool... who cares if you gotta push a few seniors down the stairs.
  20. What they gonna beat me up because they have no intelligent thing to say back to me? Typical. Maybe if they actually could show that they had some sort of intelligence we could come to some sort of agreement. And a lot of them are selfish.. they want everything for themselves and don't care what happens to anybody else... classic captialists.
  21. Sounds like what most people are thinking about the current governmnet... HEY WE HAVE THE POWER IN OTTAWA HOW CAN THEY TAKE IT FROM US. Like the people think that somehow the conservatives have a majority government. I'm not saying the 40% is more important... i'm saying it's not exactly fair when 40% of the people have to deal with it. I've heard of majority rule... and the fact is the majority of humans are ignorant. So where does that leave us?
  22. I'm from alberta. Of course there are exceptions. I normally don't post shit... but seriously take a look around your province, you can't tell me that most of these people know what the fuck they are even talking about. It's all based on handing down political views through the generations. I'm not saying other Canadians are or are not stupid... but the majority of albertans have no idea what the hell is even going on. I know i went over the top with that post... but honestly most don't have a clue.
  23. I think you're trying to provoke something with you statements... There's not point to respond to your trolling.
