yea i understand... but it seems what they want to do is make them democratic... more likely capitalist as well.. and they think that is going to make them harmless.
-
That's not going to happen.

If they were able to get into our country secretively how is surveillance and phone taps going to stop them? Or catch them? We jsut throw billions at the idea and it will likely happen anyways... at the same time possibly creating more radicalism right here in Canada from Canadians.

Did anybody actually think we could do anything for Afghanistan? It's a waste of time... Even if we were to control the country and install a government there would be someone coming in and tearing it all down... They will never stay democratic. The sooner we get outta there the better... it's hopeless... just like the war in iraq. It's like a long distance relationship... we won't be able to control what goes on over there after we leave... and we can't stay forever.

Spends more money per capita... that's must be amazingly hard to do when we make more and have less people in our province... if we didn't this place would be a fucking joke. Leaders giving money to charity because it's a fucking tax incentive. I'm sure there are cases where it's out of the goodness of someones heart... or then maybe it's because they are attempting to get money back from income taxes. Volunteer hours i can't comment... but what i will ask a question is, who determines what volunteer is, and who has calculated this? Also once again we have a smaller population, it's easier to get more per capita... pre capita is a piece of shit statistic.

Crime with illegal guns is not usually directly related to the guns themselves. Most of it comes from gangs and organized crime, attempting to get a cash grab from selling drugs and pimping and other such things. I don't believe that illegal guns are causing the crime themselves. So no, i would not advocate lifting sanctions on hand-gun ownership.

What the Governor General Has to Do!
-VMG- replied to whowhere's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, but it is how he worded it... that it was through HIS advice that she prorogued parliament.. not because she had considered a bunch of different people's advice and came to that conclusion. Really it's just Harper doing his thing... Making it look like he made it happen. -

I don't think anyone has proof of exactly what happened other than Harper and Jean. I think the fact that he said "With my ADVICE the Governor General has decided to prorogue parliament"..... it should not have been on HIS advice, it should have been on her advisers advice and have nothing to do with what Harper wanted. If this was truly the case, we need a new GG... but i suspect he chose his words carefully, and wanted to show that he was still in charge of the situation. -
House Representation and Electoral Reform

I'm saying 90% of people are either going to vote democrat or Republican.... So if you vote for a different candidate it's pretty much a throw away vote. I live in alberta... i go to the polling station... i put an X beside the Green Candidate, I could say voting pretty much for anyone except Conservative is a useless vote because they always win. The only up side is that the party gets 2 dollars for every vote... so it's not totally thrown away... but really it's a vote thrown away in most situations if you don't vote democrat or Republican. I suppose you could say losing votes are thrown away... but if the difference is within 2-3% it could mean something. You put "losing" in quotation, i never said losing votes... i said thrown away... if you vote independent the likelyhood they are going to be elected is close to none... Voting for the greens when 95% vote conservatives and 5% vote liberal is a thrown away vote... there is no chance the greens will win.... now if 49% vote con, and 49% vote liberal... a vote for liberal is not thrown away... -
Yay for ignorance.

What the hell are you even talking about? -
Case in point USSR was not "socilaist" it was a twisted authoritarian state with a "commuist" guise... it was all a lie... had nothing to do with socialism and everything to do with power hungry rulers. Maybe if Lenin didn't die we would have seen what a real communist state could produce.

I don't think you are Canadian... you might have a birth certificate saying you are... but that's just a piece of paper what does it know! -
House Representation and Electoral Reform
-VMG- replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually i'm completely wrong now that i think about it... You can't compare the systems because they are not really alike.. Voting someone for president that isn't one of those 2 parties is a throw away vote. Voting for a congressman of a different party... in some cases could be considered throwing your vote away... depending where you live i suppose. -

There are 5 main parties in Canada... 1 can be considered a non federalist party (BQ). In the united states there are 2. voting for anyone else is a throw away vote... In Canada there are mainly 4.. Voting for any but 2 is a throw away vote. -
Many of those votes are put to confidence votes with the conservative party... The bloc has nothing to lose and much to gain when there is an election... no one ever blames the bloc for bringing down the government... it's always the other parties... The bloc couldn't care less if there was an election or not from a non-confidence vote. But if it came down to it, if the liberals did not support it, it could still be passed by the bloc. But just remember that a lot of legislation under the conservative government is proposed as a confidence vote.

I can't even take your posts literally you are so out to lunch... you're an antagonist... attempting to goad us into getting into a big argument when you don't care.

Parliament lost confidence, how about you?
-VMG- replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I've never been confident in harper's government... i could potentially be confident with a conservative government if they didn't have an arrogant ass for a leader. -
It seems you are the expert on this. I shall debate no more.
-
You can deny the bloc all you want... they aren't going anywhere... just because they are separatists does not mean they aren't there... you can't ignore them... and they obviously represent a portion of Canadians.... not long ago the progressive conservatives really only represented Alberta... and a few seats on the atlantic coast... do they have any less say than the BQ does simply because they voted for someone who will attempt to get the best for Quebec? Isn't that why you vote for a political party? So they will choose the best course for you? They will get the best they can for you? So why is everyone up in arms over the Bloc? Many people vote for the conservatives because they believe they will do the best they can for the West.... what makes them any less important than the rest of Canada? This is just ridiculous... partisan politics at its finest... or worst... depending how you look at it i suppose.

Huston you're fighting a lost cause... either they are "trolls" or they are outright ignorant... don't even bother debating anything.
