socialism does not have to limit opportunity or freedom..... and usually someone who is socialist nowadays is usually someone who is socially liberal.. socialist ideals are anything from universal health care... to giving workers shares in the company... to nationalizing industry... You are taking the extreme socialism and labeling it as generic socialism.

Depends how you socialism is implemented. The little regulation of our welfare system allows for many people to exploit it.... if it was overseen better this would happen a lot less. and by saying that it tells me you don't really know what exactly goes into socialism...

Just because there is more security and more checks doesn't mean they are going to catch everyone.. and they won't catch everyone. Look at me i can create fear too. What exactly are we looking for when they are entering Canada? Known terrorists? What about the Unknown terrorists.... the sleeper cells... the expertly trained terrorists that will be able to pass any test we send at them. The ones that you can catch with your methods are the ones that are not really a threat to national security.... the ones that do pose a threat to national security are the ones that won't be caught even if you do put more security measures in. We're not talking a few minutes to cross the border.. or enter the airplane... if you wanted the most effective way it would be hours.

What determines whether some living in Canada is a terrorist? Recent known affiliation with terrorist organizations? Known affiliation with Osama Bin Laden? If they know that there are all these so called terrorists in Canada why haven't they gone after them already? Or are they just speculating since we let so many people into the country that the chances that someone was a terrorist, has known affiliation with terrorist organizations, or was formerly a terrorist has entered the country is high, they just don't know who they are. Maybe thats the question we should be asking... if they know that this is true... how come they haven't acted?

It wasn't a random security check on me... i was nervous... 20 year old kid flying executive class ( for 2 dollars more than economy woohoo ) ... that stayed in costa rica for 4 months... They thought i must have been a drug mule... with an assload (literally) of drugs... luckly i answered the questions to their satisfaction (sort of) and never got any cavity searches done... i swear she was 1 step away before they let me go... I still don't think more security measures are going to make Canada more secure... They will find a way in... and the ones we are worrying about are the ones that would slip through security anyways..

IT DOES NOT negate population differences.... and not everyone is the same... therefore per capita is a big piece of shit.. end of story. per capita albertans make like 40k a year.... that doesn't mean everyone is making 40k per year... thats an average of all albertans.... in all of alberta say the gross income for all albertans together is 1 million... (not accurate but showing my point).... there are 2 million people in alberta.... so the per capita is 50 cents. But this does not show that some are making 0 and some are making a dollar.... statistics are flawed.

Yea i have... first time in an airport alone.. coming back from costa rica... Got all my shit searched... got asked a bunch of stupid questions by a dumb bitch. Then i looked over and was sorry that they had went to check a families bags... which there was about 15 bags ... turns out the family was black... what a suprise.

Illegal guns are A problem.. but there are underlying issues. Organized crime use guns to protect their assets... their assets are drugs... and the drugs make them money... if we take away their money, they won't need their guns to protect their assets. I don't think making illegal guns legal will help anything... if anything it will make random violent crimes worse.

Because you said you work in Western North America... you travel between Canada and the US i suppose.. by air... it depends what you wear, how you act.. how many times you've been in an airport...you obviously know how to get around... you likely fly the same airline everytime you cross the border.. Long lines are happening at the land border for the most part. And as for flying, it's when people are going from countries outside of north america that becomes an inconvenience... Just because YOU don't experience it doesn't mean there isn't one.

We don't have to throw open the doors... just do what we've always been doing... there are no real stats on how many people are actually here that are terrorists... it could just be fear mongering... and it likely is. The only thing the new laws have done is inconvenience everyday people and haven't caught jack shit. And yea they did increase border security and whatnot already... the more we increase it the bigger pain in the ass it's going to be to go anywhere... and nothing come of it at all.

That doesn't do anything for the people already here.. so whats the point of that? Like it said if it only took a couple questions to figure out who these people are then they would be caught already... but if they are sleeper agents or a real threat, then they won't be caught that easily... so whats throwing a bunch of money into it going to do?
