I don't know........how many flights can be made with a single Hercules aircraft from Northern Australia, compared to from Canada in a 24 hr period to Indonesia? Sure, you're preaching to the converted though......I agree, I also think the lack of political will to send any amount of aid in the beganing also played a part. But in fairness to the Liberal government, I don't know that the Australians would have "beat us" had the diaster been in our backyard........

Should The Roman Catholic Church Be Banned?

Fleabag as a Protestant, I must beg to differ: Worldwide Adherents of All Religions by Six Continental Areas, Mid-1995 I'm not sure I know what you are talking about........care to cite an example? One would have to define the parameters of the said crusade, before judging it's merits I should think....... For example, I don't see a problem with a crusade against radical Islam.........it's a mater of perspective, ablitiy and logistics I guess when "throwing a crusade" WRT being on the "right team", that to is a mater of perspective.......did the average German or Japenese soldier think he was on the wrong team during World War two? WRT having "god on your side", I don'tr think thats the case, for we are all God's children (I don't know that he would pick sides).......the key to success is being on God's side and doing his work. -
Probably a combination of two reasons, the RAAF having a vastly superior airlift capablity then our airforce and geography.

In actual fact, I repeated myself for your benifit not mine. Thats an intresting persepctive you have......I never looked at giving aid to people without the benifit of 24 hr news paying attention to them "silly".

Fair enough fleabag, obviously all people can't give an equal amount, nor should they be expected to. But taking pride in helping your fellow man does equate into a lack of ones moral values....... Also, I think the reaction time of the Martin (and Bush) government is disgusting. I would find it intresting to see if the deployment of the DART team to Sir Lanka is not out of need, but out of the need to shore-up and/or gain a seat in a contested riding that has a large Sir Lankin population.........

Should The Roman Catholic Church Be Banned?

You want to alienate over a billion people MS? Abolish a religon? Isn't that a sign of the rapture? What would another crusade do to your enviroment? -
I'll type slowly for you than........ You question the time in which donations where made for the disaster relief: I repond by questioning how many millions of Canadians only donate to an Aid organization after a major disaster occurs instead of donating "just because" year round : Your defensive responce lends me to beleive that you have a guilty conscience in terms of your charity to others........ Which comment? First off, on the political side of it, if we had a Conservative government in power now, and Harper had of dragged his feet like Martin, you wouldn't be calling for his head? I'm sure Maplesyrup would some how find a connection between the Earthquake, Bush, Star Wars, haliburtion, and Iraq, and how Harper was nothing more than a Boot strap for the "transnationals".......... Come off it now, be honest. As for taking any amount of "pride" in helping the Asian people affected by this disaster, I find that notion disgusting........I think if Canadians feel "pride" by sending a few blankets, bottles of water and a few bucks per capita to these people, it shows how lacking we are as a people in self-esteem and self-respect.

Let's see: 1. Reduce home energy use by 10% Not sure if I've done that, but my BC Hydro bill for November was $20.......I've got a Woodstove and two or three of those super saver lightbulbs....... 2. Choose an energy-efficient home & appliances I rent. 3. Don't use pesticides I don't, I buy organic vegitables and fruit 90% of the time. 4. Eat meat-free meals one day a week I hate to admit, but I eat KD more than 5 times a week 5. Buy locally grown and produced food I get most of my meat from my aunts ranch, hunting/fishing or from local grocery store on the island, that purchases mostly island grown or raised products. Unfortanly I haven't seen too many BC grown oranges or Kiwis....... 6. Choose a fuel-efficient vehicle define fuel-efficient........my 3/4 ton Chev is fuel-efficient next to a Hummer or a Tank 7. Walk, bike, carpool or take transit I walk as much as possable down to the local corner store......don't own a bike.........I use to carpool when I had a long commute......and I'll take transit when ever I can or when i go over to Vancouver for the weekend.... 8. Choose a home close to work or school Takes me five minutes to drive to work in the morning Won't last forever though 9. Support alternative transportation ??? What like flying saucers, jet packs and hovercraft? 10. Learn more and share with others What does this have to do with the Enivorment........is Suzuki some sort of commie? So of the ten, I do 6........I guess Slavik44, we are just a coulpe of granola munching, tree hugging hippies....... Do I get bonus marks for taking my beer bottles back for a refund?

A better question would be, how many of the critics and the critics of the critics give year round? Not just when a major diaster happens? I personaly give blood twice a year, and money to both the Red Cross and to charities through my Church every year........

Fellow Conservatives, whats more important to you?
Stoker replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And the damn question is fallacy.....it's not an either or choice. Both tax cuts and a increase in defence spending are possable and needed. -

.........Now to get onto topic I agree here wholeheartedly I miss Reagan........funding defence and tax relief (and healthcare, education, the enviroment etc) don't have to be an either/or question. If you have four friends over for dinner and two more show up, instead of taking from the four orginal friends.........make a larger dinner. What makes "small tax cuts" good? IOW, if a small tax does good to the econmoy, why won't a larger tax cut do even better? And would you care to explain how Bush's tax cut was only for the rich? Are you saying that the refund cheques printed by the United States treasury for "normal people" was nothing but a ruse? A Jedi mind trick if you will? Why do you want a "militia type military"? What would be the benifit to having a "weekend warrior" force as opposed to a professional military? I agree with having a useful militia, but not to replace the pros with........ -

You do understand that some would interpret your post as one of a trolling nature......... Now caesar, I fail to understand why a person that is so openly "not Conservative" such as your self, keeps wasting your time (and ours) posting in a topic about Conservative values. I could understand to a degree one wanting to voice their opinion on the subject even if they were not Conservative in nature, with that said, I'd ask them still to perhaps post a new thread asking everybody or those of a different political stripe. (instead of moving this thread off topic) But caesar, you don't add anything to the disscusion other then insults directed at posters and their politicial ideals........what is your problem? -
Fellow Conservatives, whats more important to you?
Stoker replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ahh, but the party and it's policy are greater then any one party leader..........as for changing the leader.....why? Mulrony was the last Tory leader to share the same level of success as Harper on the federal level.......things look way better for the party now, then they did this time last year. How many seats to the NDP and Bloc have combined? How many do the Conservaties have? But to get back onto topic........ -

I fail to see why this is a zero sum question........ How about this: Are Conservatives in favour of either increased defence spending and tax relief or further government waste through sponsership scandles and gun registries? As for BBM directing this question at Conservatives only, I see no problem with that...........Both these issues happan to be at the top of the lists of reforms needed when the Conservatives form the government........ -
Though I won't bother wasting my time reponding to MS, I'll respond to this part of the "story": Who distributed the movie "The Day After Tomorrow"? Three letter word. Shares the name of a small carnivorous mammal, that is in the dog and wolf family......... If thats not enough, I'll spot you the first and last letter in the name: F*X

O-K -
Ahh yes..........all those good socialists that put "quality of life over profits", that live on the North Shore Are not these the same people that wanted a tunnel built to Whistler along the ski to sea? We must not have big rigs going through the British properties now.........

That is a decent point, I really can't think of a "right-wing" poster that has told a left-winger to leave, I know many have called names and questioned their sanity, but I can't think of the "go away" responce used by the "right"........ Might have happend, just don't remember it

Why do we treat dictatorships with respect?
Stoker replied to Argus's topic in The Rest of the World
Thats an intresting idea. Perhaps we should lead an initiative that would see an end to all financial aid to dictorships. (I remember a news story a month or so ago that stated the fourth largest receiver of Canadian financial aid was Red China) I would much rather see us give food and humanitarian aid to these countries either directly from Canadian aid agencies to the people, and if that was not possable, through international agencies such as the Red Cross or Red Crescent. A better example would have been Saddam, he won the previous election with 99.9% of the vote............
