  1. Why should we the taxpayers of Ontario get sued. Sue the band for allowing these guys from their band to block the road. Debeers have a lawful agreement that their band signed. The band have their own police force. Law in a democracy should be dispenced equally. The OPP and the Native Police have been deralict in their duty. If this was white guys blocking this same road, they would be told to move, then packaged up with force and put into a wagen for transport to the first available lock up. DeBeers must think they have gone into a wierd third world of lawlessness. Your thought on DeBeers hiring their own security I can understand. They have been abandoned by civilized law. I don`t understand anyone defending these guys. Whats the difference the colour of skin or heritage when it comes to law.
  2. Well it sure looks like a few Native folks are upset they are not getting compensation for their hunting and trapping grounds. Unfortunately for them they are blocking the wrong road. The agreement was with the band and compensation was paid to the band to distribute. Chief Spence of the recent so called hunger strike is the one they should be talking to. She is the Chief who`s books don`t balance according to auditors. From afar this looks like highway extortion by a few individuals from the band. Or maybe they did not get compensation from the Chief. In any case the Mineing company should not be held up like this and the OPP are not protecting this good corporate citizen. If the ice road does not open this mine may close down and dozens of locals will be put out of work . Not a really good move when you consider other job options in the area.
  3. I had a brother who was diagnosed with cancer. Six months the doctors said. My other brother and I took him to dinner. We laughed and told storys about our life as three brothers. Great night with great food. I drove him home and he asked me to come in and have a beer. Of course I did. Finished the beer and was about to go. He instructed me to never come back, but to remember him this night as a happy man. I kissed him good bye and never saw him alive again. I talked to his daughter later. He refused to go to the hospital till the day he died. He wanted his beer, smokes and TV as long as he could. He did it his way. Got to hand it to him. He was always a rough and tumble guy. He was to the end. My other brother pretty well went the same way. God they were tough wonderful guys. I have had a heart attack and nearly died a few years ago. I hope that I go at the hands of a jealous lover. Just so long as it`s fast and gives folks some great gossip. Trouble is my wonderful wife will not let me have any illicit affairs. She spoils all my fun . Just kidding ! Maybe I will have to settle for some dareing do ! But gosh I don`t want to linger without some zest for life. Although a Christian and I know that I have a pretty good chance of going to heaven , I found some loop holes in the bible,I still am in no hurry. Why is that ? If I become a burden I will try and get up to James Bay and take a voyage on a piece of ice. Wait for a Polar Bear to wrestle.
  4. Thanks Waldo for the help ,that was kind of you . I hope this is a post that will bring some interest. It certainly got some replys from viewers on the CBC article that you posted. I find it hard that any body would not be concerned about inforcement of the law in what we percieve as country run by the rule of law..
  5. Gosh ,I am sorry ,I must have done something wrong. I thought I posted a link to the subject matter. Can you help me out here please.
  6. http://www.torontosun.com/2013/02/21/opp-inaction-results-in-lawless-north I hope I did this right . It is my first time trying to add a new subject. Now with that said ,it is has always been my belief that we are subject to laws. That a police person has a sworn duty to protect us according to the law. When a judge lays down the law and gives a direct order I was under the impression that our police were duty bound to inforce the directive ! Am I wrong ? To my eye from gleaning this article there is no question who is breaking the law . This is not a two sided arguement. If you or I tryed to block the street we live on to the detriment of neighbours we would be removed by the police without a court order and darn fast too!. As it should be. The mineing company is being held up from going about it`s lawful business with the aid of the OPP by not inforceing a court order. How can this happen in Canada ? Should the mineing company hire some toughs to remove the lawless road blockers ? I would hate to see that happen. Some heads might get broke. I believe in the rule of law . But where is the law? Must be very frustrating for those trying to go about their lawful business. This reminds of some B Movie out of the old west . A lawless country where highway men rule the road.
  7. You have made a statement there that kids are not being taught about climate change and that humans are the cause. Is it your wish to eliminate humans ? There are those with scientific degrees that do not think climate change is the doing of humans. Along with your theory that climate change is because of humans are you going to allow an alternative view? Or is there to be one view only ? How is Canada`s democracy being eroded ? We have free elections. Governments change . What are you on about ? Or is it just because it is a Conservative government ?
  8. Quebec makes them selves a laughing stock. Don`t blame the messenger. Blame the over zelous racist language police. In a free country you should be allowed to put up a sign in any language on your business. If you want to advertise in Hebrew in an Italion area and go broke thats should be your business.
  9. No one should be forced to pay EI. My wife had to pay EI for years but was unable to collect it because her husband owned the business she worked at. Now hows that for a shake down. Just like a protection racket.A lot of seasonal workers from what I have observed collect EI in the off season and work under the table the rest of the year. I have gone into the EI office looking for workers. In the off season. You know like late fall and winter. I was treated like a theif in the night and had to jump through hoops. After my third try at the paper work I packed it in. They actually knowingly gave me out dated paper work to fill out. I came to the conclusion that they really did not have anyone looking for work. I also think the staff had to take grumpy pills each morning.
  10. Well this is my last word on this. I will make sure that anytime a charity or school of so called higher learning is looking for hand outs, I will ,with all vigour campaign ,in the public square to blast them out of the water, if they ever pay any M.P. a single dime for showing up to speak.. I think all students should also look at the cost to them and or parents of tuition and books.
  11. You poor soul ! I really am getting concerned about you Lad ! The schools are not a brainwashing institutions for you to tinker with. We parents are quite capable, mostly, in teaching social responsibility ,good manners and how to get along with others in a civilized society. Some times we fail. Often a child grows to be the opposite of their parents politically, education wise and career wise. But if the parent has done their job properly they will have instilled good values no matter the path their kids take. They will also have given them the gift of love and family. It is the teachers job to give children the tools in each grade to be ready for the next grade until they wish to go to College or University or even off to work on assembly line. My goal has always been to raise children to be self supporting ,kind, hard working and honest. Thats a parents job. If your going to teach ,don`t try and raise my Grand kids in your image. You don`t have that right ! To be quite frank ,you certainly do not have the ability to teach a child anything of substance that will inhance their knowledge. I am truely sorry if my words hurt you. But my son ,you must look else where for a career.
  12. What gets me is that he is avoiding his day job for what he is paid handsomely for to work part time taking money from the educational system. I want anyone here to tell me they would be allowed to do that in the private sector ? If he was speaking as part of his MP`s duty and for free then I would not have a problem with him educating kids on how our Parliament works. In a non partisian manner as much as possible.
  13. .My big problem is that socialist is a product of the system ! Egad ! I really have to wonder if he is what he portrays himself ? I mean he sounds like something that the extreme right would manufacture as a caricature of a left winger, never mind a teacher. I looked at the poster . Who did that for them ,a grade 5 class ? Soon as I saw a connection to rabble I just could not go any further. LOL
  14. Your falling for the lefts switch the subject matter when they know they are loseing the battle Pik. This is about Trudeau. If they want to argue the merits of Brazeau let them start a new topic. No other MP that I know of ,charges for speaking engagements. Other than a stipend. I always figured it was part of the job dicription already being well paid by the people.
  15. shortlived, please explain to me how he is not taking the money off the tax payers ? I am confused. He recieves his salary as an MP and when he speaks at schools they pay him with money we tax payers put into the schools ? Please enlighten me ! How is he not taking tax payer money ? You also say that it takes millions to run a campaign and the Liberals have had fund raising problems in the past. What has that to do with Trudeau raising money on his speaking engagements pay ?
  16. Your right Michael that we must let people fail. Help them up by all means ,steady them on their feet ,but make them walk. Letting them lean on you will only drag you down too. failure is a very big part of life . Failure is not always a bad thing if one learns from it. Most of us are quite resilient. We can bounce back and usually do. My failures and my success` make up the person I am today. Of course my ego will always look back on my success`. Such is human nature.
  17. What we have here is a different kettle of fish. Justin ,is not doing anything illegal in solicting money for his presence in class rooms or board rooms. My position is why do school boards who cry for more money agree to pay handsomely for this guy to come in and babble platitudes. Or how students who complain about the cost of education can endorse this kind of payment. Usually MP `s,at least the ones I have known have never charged for speaking at schools. What the private sector does is their business except if they get tax right off. Then again you and I are paying. Also I find it offensive that while you and I pay his wages as an MP he is out double dipping instead of doing the work he was voted into doing and being paid handsomely to boot. Is this public service ? But maybe I am jealous I can `t get some money indoctrinating kids who are gullible to Rock Stars and will be voting in the next election. Lets face it . Since his fathers funeral the media has fawned over this kid and has created a future PM. It has worked and we now have a Royal Canadian Family. He will be PM of that there is no doubt. He can do no wrong. I only hope that at least he has some wise folks behind. One has to wonder why socialists like Trudeau who gets a very good handsome wage, charges to meet Canadians in speaking engagements? How rich does a socialist have to inspire too ? I could have some understanding if he was donating his extra gain above his salary to education or social work or hospitals etc. If you and I are being payed a salary by a company and were takeing time off work to make money else where, we would be fired. But like I said it is not illegal. But is it right ?
  18. Michael ,it is a pleasure to have polite discourse with someone whom one may have a different opinion with. From your previous post I believe you said you were responsible for hiring. I too hired people in my business and I also was ultimately responsible for making a pay roll each week.Paying overhead and of course to make enough profit. It concerned me that some people did not realize what it took to make their pay cheque possible. It appears that many young people could do my job better than I. I know that for a fact because they told me so often . After all they could guess at what my costs were to create the widget. Unfortunately thats as far as their business acumen went. But here is a true story that I experienced when a young man entered my busines domain. He approached me and asked if I had a job. Well of course I do have a job and infomed him so and asked why he wanted to know ? No ! No ! A job for me he said ! After some thought I said yes,I was looking for some one to do repairs. How much do you pay he asked ? Now thats not a great start for this young fellow as you can imagine. So I asked him how much he was expecting ? My teacher said that with my High School education I should get at least $12.00 an hour to start. This was when the minimum wage was around $6.00. OK said I ,I have a test for you ! How do you remove a nut? Clock wise or anti clock wise ? I don`t know he exclaimed I have no experience .And I don`t have $ 12.00 an hour to teach you either was my reply. Go back to your teacher and tell her that. You see the teacher had not given the Lad the tools to even apply for a job and her inflated thoughts on wages were , I guess due to a lack of knowledge of the real world. I often wonder about that Lad on how he has made out. I hope he is getting his $ 12.00 an hour. At least to start.
  19. Well alternatives to oil ,coal and gas tecknology that the west has thrown money into has been a complete failure. Cut off the big three and a heck of a lot more humans will die of cold hunger and disease. Do you think Saudi Arabia has a better record enviromentally ? Or do you think they just might be behind some of the misinformation we are fed ? It must be scarey to have such great source of money to one family put in jeopardy.
  20. I thank you Michael ,for reading my post. And of course for your constructive criticism of my spelling. I admit I wrote the blurb in great haste as I had pressing business to attend to. Of course that should not be an excuse. Unfortunately you have caught me out. I am pretty well self educated because I left school at an early age. Mind you I was given some tools from the dedicated educaters that inabled me to progress on my own and to have a wonderful productive life. Mean while I do believe teachers are over paid today and that the Unions have brought about the disrespet the teachers get from society at large. Unlike teachers,if you and I each build widgits, yours being widget " A " and mine being widget " B " and your widget is better built and does the job properly over my widget ,widget " B " will disappear. As it should ! Unfortunately in a public school system ,with Unions protecting widget " B " or teacher " B" they are allowed to prosper . Keep their jobs and still put out a lousey product. Long live widget "A "s although they are blended in with all those Union built incompetent widget " B " s. Education should be a calling ! Not a Union job ! While I am on a rant ,I have to bring up the dress and deportment of teachers who dress and act like their charges. In any job discription ,one should dress and act the part they play. Thanks again for listening .
  21. I was at a parents night,I think it was grade one or two. On the wall displayd proudly were little stories. All were marked with 4 stars and different comments how wonderful they had done. The fact that they were incomprehensible and spelling was awful didn`t seem to matter about the glory that was being lavished on the little charges. The teacher and the principal came along and I inquired why were the kids were being told they did so well ? I was told that it was the content of the story that was important. I then asked a very simple question that I thought might be enlightening for myself. If the spelling does not matter at this age when do you try and correct it ? The answer ,was when they are ready. When is that I replyied ? Grade three, four, five ? When does content count ? When does spelling count ? Because it has been my experience that when you tell a human beings, and children are human beings , that they are doing everything just Jim Dandy and then tell them later they are doing it wrong you get a lot of confusion and anger .Well I guess my questions were very hard to answer. The Principal had a melt down. She screamed at me that I just want to educate the kids and not look after their little egos and their social life ! Your right said I. I can teach them how to behave in polite society and what is and is not right. I pay you to produce a scholar. Well off they went in a great huff ! I took my son who attended the school and as it is with some parents who were denyed a formal education, I am a stickler about educating my children, I took my boy and put him in private school. Best thing I ever did for him. Bloody tough on the bank account. On another occasion with another son who was in High School ,came home beat up all to hell. He was a wee Lad at the time ,about 90 lbs. soaking wet and about 5.2. I took him to the Principal the next day. Apparently the kid who layed on the beating was the school tough guy who weighted close to two hundred and was about six foot. He was brought to the office and the Principal declared that it takes two to have a fight and to shake hands. Thats it I declared ! Yes was the reply. Now this punk had 40 lbs on me but I told him straight up and in his face if he layed his hands on my kid again I would beat him to a pulp soon as he left school grounds. The Principal was shocked. I turned on him and told him I knew a little about punch ups,but this was not a punch up between equals. This was an assault ! He had abdicated his responsibilty. Making an assault victim shake hands with his tormentor. I have seen teachers pass kids on from grade eight to High School who were not ready scholastically or socially because failure would hurt their egos ,blah ,blah. Of course the child dropped out in grade nine. Failure is part of life. It is as important to learn to fail as it is to succeed! I have encountered teachers in class rooms with political buttons on. I have gotten reports from my kids about teachers lecturing about politics in the in the class room with only one view. They were not teaching ,they were indoctrinating. I went to the school and asked if I could go into class and teach an alternative view. I was denyed,I was not a teacher. Yet in other schools as a veteran I was always welcome to speak on Remembrance Day
  22. Your right! The only thing those teachers back then wanted to do was educate the kids. That would not fit into todays enlightment . I mean what do kids need the three "R 's for when they can be taught about how to masturbate with vegetables and the proper way to put a condom on. We also have to have time to have teachers indoctrinate our children on the glorys of Socialism. I mean it`s all for the kids ,right !
  23. Yes teachers were thought so very highly of back in my day. But it has been union militancy and putting out a bad product that has brought about the disrespect. But then a lot of Union militancy and wild wages for what they do along with slovenly work ethic has brought about disrespect. I remember the postman delivering what was called the Royal Mail. He wore his uniform like a proud soldier. Always spit and polished. To my Mom his word was gospel if he reported on us kids doing something dangerous or bad. Now he would be told to mind his own business. Not all teachers are incompetent. Some are very dedicated educaters. Then there are those like socialist here. I can`t believe this guy is for real ! Imagine him teaching your child that he or she does not need basic math skills ?
