Bienvenue au Canada. Door could swing wider This should prove to be an interesting Parliament.

A 21st century image might help boost the party's profile. Who knows the history of the CCF/NDP? Why did the CCF change its name to the New Democratic Party? Was it a worthwhile change? What comes to mind when you hear the words NDP? Be gentle now.

Here we go again - Quebec Independence

takeanumber....I presume you would have preferred voters to vote for something they believe in, not vote out of fear, during our recent last election, right? Well, my preference is to have Quebeckers remain with us because they want to, not stay out of fear that Quebec will be dismantled. I don't have the answers, just thoughts, and more questions. -

I just do not understand anyone who can think such a thing. We are such a rich country in so many ways, which has a lot to do with Quebec. Let's celebrate our French culture, not attack it. Let's look for solutions so that Quebeckers are at home across our big country, not create more problems. Canadians need to get back to their dreams. First of all, Canada needs to become truly bilingual - what's the big deal anyways? -

The Liberals are moving to the left. Yup, no policy convention, so Harper and your MPs could say anything. And they sure did. Willy.....right wingers are great with the hype. How about a little substance to at least attempt to back up suspect statements such as the one above, eh?. -
Separatists' dream is alive I realize this is a Quebec issue, but does anyone think Canadians can approach things differently this time ? I am beginning to get a little anxious not because of Quebeckers necessarily, but of the Quebec federalist leadership and the ROC's approach to this issue. Duceppe, as Quebec premier is going to be a formidable opponent. The federal Liberals must be rubbing their hands with glee - another issue to put the fear into the hearts of Canadians and give the federal Liberals another majority government. Claude Charest is going to save Canada - God, or whatever, if God's not your thing, help us.

You Conservatives guys had the best of all possible worlds. Liberals mired in scandles, the backlash against McGuinty Liberals. I doubt those conditions will continue to exist. Right wingers have a lot of denial. It was the LEFT OF CENTRE parties that increased their share of the popular vote The ball is now in Martin's court, once again. -
Caesar.....that's was a dead dog, wasn't it? It looks mighty fine on Bill Cunningham to lose - them's his just desserts for running such a scuzy Liberal nomination process in BC. Burnaby-Douglas Bill Siksay Party: NDP Elected: Yes Percent: 34.6% Bill Cunningham Party: Liberal Elected: No Percent: 32.6% George Drazenovic Party: Conservative Elected: No Percent: 27.6% Other Parties Party: Other Elected: No Percent: 5.2%

Too few right wingers for the right to unite This, probably more than any other reason, is why one has to question whether Harper has a future. -
Tax avoidance is what we are talking about. As prime minister, a role model for Canadians, this does not look good. Sorry but that's just reality. Taxes are something we should be celebrating, not try to avoid, especially our prime minister.. Because of taxes we have a health care system ,schools, roads, a justice system, etc.
-
Argus....I gather you want a tax increase to help pay for all these additional government services. I thought it was Canada Customs who discovered the drugs. That's a pretty powerful statement concerning the importance of our good government in Canada. The fact that Canada Customs exposed it, rather than covered it up, because it is a Martin company, is very impressive as well.

Should Stephen Harper Resign?

Liberals have been winning on fear for a long time. For quite awhile it was Quebec separation issue. Now it is "the Barbarians are at the Gate". Nothing new here. -
So Ireland has a low corporate tax rate. What is their overall rate of tax? In other words, even if corp. taxes are low, income taxes may be high. What does it really mean?
-
What is Canada's corp tax rate?
-
Argus.....how do you feel about our prime minister running his company offshore to avoid Canadian taxes? Is this a good Canadian role model?

Who would be advantaged by such a rumour? Sounds like a cool rumour for the Alberta Alliance party.

The health care conference coming up should be a hoot with all the different lobbyists at work: The rich against the poor National standards vs provincial jusisdiction Privatization vs public Alternative medicine vs standard medicine Liscensing immigrant health care professionals Shortening waiting lists Controlling the costs Restoring coverage in areas such as eye exams, etc. I like what Alberta is about to start doing: sending out an annual statement of your health care costs.

Did John Reynolds start this rumour?

-from paul wellls For such a great country, Canada sure has a lot of whiners.

Why he's not the champ How in the world could Canadians ever elect a prime minister, with the immense power of the PMO, with views on Iraq like that? -
What does CCRAP stand for?

Argus........if you feel young people should not vote, perhaps as well we should eliminate the vote for anyone over, say 65.
