A while back I walked into a McDonalds to pick up an egg mcmuffin. I noticed that the teenagers who were preparing food, were not wearing gloves. I asked the manager, who was standing right there, why they weren't and he said "we have frequent handwashing policies, at least 4 times per shift". I told him that I was not comfortable with teenagers handling my food while not wearing gloves and left the store. I've raised young teens, and I know that diligence about anything is hit and miss in their world.

ABC Clinton/Obama debacle.
Carinthia replied to Carinthia's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You bore me with your endless childish comparisons. -
Did anybody catch this so called debate? They actually had a viewer ask Obama about his not wearing the American flag pin, once. Charles Gibson felt this was a very important issue, as according to him, it's been all over the internet. Speaking of "out of touch with reality" and the elite. You couldn't have found a better demonstration of it. There's a war going on, the USA is on the brink of recession etc. and they waste everybody's time with this infantile crap? Mindboggling! How many times does a guy have to explain the Rev. Wright issue? This was a complete and utter bore.

Obama's "Beer and Popcorn" Moment
Carinthia replied to jbg's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Oh, c'mon, by the time a Dem candidate is picked and he is on his merry way, the masses will forget about all the bashing that went on, within I would say, about 24 hours? Most people have the attention span of a knat when it comes to politics or hollywood stars. Can you say Britney? Hell, it's been so long since I've heard anything about her, a good 3 weeks, I can't even spell her name right. -

And bridges and infrastructure is crumbling in your own country. Makes sense to me. McCain will keep pumping your hard earned dollars into Iraq for the next 4 years after January. You well deserve him. -

How would you know that? White males have always dominated the run for President. So how can anybody realistically gage the voting tendencies of Hispanics? -

Actually this Huff reporter commented on Lou Dobbs, that she was so disturbed by Obama's comments that she felt (after 8 days) that she had to turn the tape over to the MSM. I guess she figured he was calling them "hicks" too. As someone who is anti religion and anti "packin", as both kill, I'm all for whatever Obama misspeaks. Bring it on, it's long overdue. -

If she had waited 16 years, Obama's Presidency would be long over. The Huff is liberal and an Obama supporter, so why would one of their own do this, unless there was gold at the end of the rainbow. -

I find it curious that the reporter from the Huffington Post waited 8 days to make her little tape public. Gee, do you think maybe some loot may have exchanged hands in the course of this revelation? -

My, my, between Pastor Wright and Obama, the raw truth is finally coming out. Obama now just needs to worry that he may have offended the religious or gun lovers. But these folks would probably have voted for McCain anyhow, so not much to worry about there really. There was an elderly Republican "ordinary dude" from Pennsylvania interviewed on Fox News this morning. He said Obama speaks the truth as far as he's concerned, although he said he has always been a McCain supporter. So if it isn't offending elder Reps, I doubt it will have much of a negative impact on Obama Dem supporters. -
Day in the Life of Joe Middle-Class Republican by John Gray Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised. All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry. Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor. Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune. Its noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression. Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his life-time. Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dads; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republican’s would still be sitting in the dark) He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home. He turns on a radio talk show, the host’s keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. (He doesn’t tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day) Joe agrees, “We don’t need those big government liberals ruining our lives; after all, I’m a self made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have”. http://tvnewslies.org/html/day_in_the_life...oe_middle-.html

I've seen reserves, (believe it if you want) and have seen homes that are taken care of. I've also seen lots that aren't. In my town there are homes that are taken care of and some that aren't. A good 99% of us who live here are white and as we are a one resource town, all are working. In the big cities in Canada, you see many more houses owned by white folks that are run down. White slum landlords, couldn't care less what the place looks like, as long as they rake in the rent.

Why take it all so personally AW? There is critizism on this forum about Canadian politicians, righties and lefties, F/N, immigrants, religion, RCMP, personal attacks for one's beliefs and everything else you can think of. Why should America be given a pass here? I'm sorry that you have encountered ignorance in your travels in Canada. That is shameful but sadly, ignorance and stereotyping is everywhere and encompasses many aspects of life in general.

Since I don't recall that you have been designated as a mod, I ain't goin nowhere. I suggest you put me on your ignore list. Frankly, the thought of your eyes landing on my posts, gives me the creeps.

What went wrong for John McCain
Carinthia replied to BubberMiley's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Wonder if he'll hide his own Easter eggs on Sunday? -
And you have some nerve asking me to tell you where I live, which is what I would have to do. If you think that F/N are living the Canadian dream and I am full of s***, then it's you who has a problem and yes, please do me a favour and be done with me.
-
I am well known in my area, which is very small. Call me what you want but it won't make any difference. I speak from my own observations of what I see with the F/N Bands in my area. What was the nature of your work for the Mnjikaning? If you don't mind my asking.
-
Supporting his "Cult" as you put it, brings me more hope than supporting yours, which I suspect involves war and greed.
-
I'm not trying to fool anyone. The facts are the facts. I would hazard a guess that you have had nothing to do with F/N other than to pass by them on the street.

Happy Anniversary Iraq!
Carinthia replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Point well taken. The U.S. is trillions of dollars in dept. Why were U.S lending insitutions allowed to rob it's own citizens? Why is the improvement of U.S. infrastucture being ignored? The revenues that are normally gained from War, only seem to be fattening the coffers of the big corporatons who are contracted to the cause. Perhaps my analysis is over simplistic. -

I believe depression means something about standing in line for soup, as well as watching store owners pour milk down the drain because they can't sell it to people who have no money. You enjoy the ride! -
Forcing First Nation peoples to make the transition into the ways of us whitey's, is very new in the realm of time and history. F/N have made incredible strides, unlike some of us, in the same period of time.
-
Why would I bother to name the ingenious resourceful Bands? I was talking about the Reserves in the outlying areas that are not so resourceful. Are we having problems with reading comprehension Dog?

There are lots of them AW. The laws are changing, Province by Province to allow them. As far as I know, they are stll illegal in BC but they get around that using loopholes. http://www.findprivateclinics.ca/

Happy Anniversary Iraq!
Carinthia replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The U.S. has sunk 47 billion dollars into re building Iraq's infrastructure and currently the U.S. is on the verge of a depression. When McCain is elected, he will not only have a war to keep sinking money into, he will also have a failed economy to deal with. As he has little experience in economics (by his own admission) but tons when it comes to war, it will be interesting to hear all the whining that will take place a couple of years from now.
