  1. It's always an option, but I don't advocate it.
  2. Not making an assumption; that's what it stands for, until evidence to the contrary is provided. lol
  3. Oh, that's right, Harper isn't a pro-war, pro-military, anti-environment guy cozy with big business at all!!!! Yeah, the Con ads are real sophisticated using slot machines and dice. DING! DING! DING!
  4. It's pretty good, actually. Obviously you don't understand Quebec. Guitars are an integral part of its culture.
  5. I'm sure Rue already has a life-size poster of her up on his bedroom wall. And mom no doubt is wondering why he's suddenly spending so much time in there alone...
  6. Watch too much Seinfeld, you do...
  7. "Israel's first female prime minister since Golda Meir" Why is this an issue? The media likes to make such remarks, but it's really irrelevant isn't it? What happens when there is another female PM? "The third female PM since Meir and Livni" And the fourth? Fifth? How about she just be referred to as the next PM. Period.
  8. That his MO. Somehow, for 9000+ posts, he's been able to carry on that way unimpeded. Makes one wonder...
  9. Um... but that's how it goes in politics, in particular during an election. The media is always happy to jump on such gaffes and make something out of seemingly nothing; the media has been going easy on the Cons because it's basically been decided that we're going to have a Con majority, but such a remark making light of human suffering and death the media can't be deterred from dealing with. This is the only way that the Cons can lose: if they say or do something remarkably stupid that the people who control the media can't interfere without making it too obvious.
  10. What difference does that make?
  11. There's absolutely no problem with that because Ontario encompasses a geographic size similar in size or larger than most countries on this planet. The more localized that governance is, the better that it is for individual citizens; and the more connected a citizen feels to their government/politicians, the better it is for society in general. Therefore, having a "provincial outlook and mindset" is hardly unsophisticated or narrow, as you would have it. Having a strong connection with and sense of place is good, and naturally in the modern world this is something that gets discredited.
  12. No, really?!?!?!?!?! WIP stands for Western Independence Party in my books until otherwise explained. Just because a person claims to be from a certain location doesn't mean that they are, or that they aren't originally from another location. You should know.
  13. I don't think that's the point. If you have a gold coin and the economy goes to pot it has value whereas specie and investments on paper become worthless. Also, the value of gold increased $75 dollars today.
  14. Hmmmm.... past Majijuana Party candidate... go figure. Don't matter; Blair Wilson has this one in the bag.
  15. The thing is that 50 years ago Leslie Frost was Premier and Ontario had an excellent economy, so I'm not sure what the analogy fits. The NDP came to power in a difficult situation and the province did manage to weather predicament well enough. The Liberals were the ones who set up the NDP in some respects, and I doubt that the PCs could have managed the situation any better. They certainly didn't on the federal level. The whole deal with Rae just goes to show how ignorant the average elector is; first, the NDP was put in power essentially because people didn't want the Liberals or PCs, and then when it doesn't go so well people make superficial judgements about the guy and then figure we better vote in the PCs again, even though Harris was by no means a Bill Davis.
  16. Yeah, a distant second to Mike Harris. I think the NDP under Rae was perhaps inexperienced and made mistakes, but Harris instituted a deliberate and calculated systemic "revolution" that made such a shambles of Ontario that the chances of the PCs being relected in the next 30 years is remote at best.
  17. So you agree that your Conservative government should stop providing welfare for corporations?
  18. I'm not voting Liberal. I've never voted Liberal. Isn't there supposed to be some kind of IQ test to get into the military?
  19. Let's face it: Ritz is just another example of the type that populate the Conservative party. Should this really be a surprise considering the cast of sick characters that have filtered in and out of the party since its Reform party days?
  20. Actually, I think given the circumstances it was pretty insensitive what he said. Ontario has lost how many manufacturing jobs since Harper has been in power? He doesn't care, because he's cozy with Big Business and only views the economy in terms of numbers.
  21. CBC and the media in general has been paying more attention to Harper and being less critical of his conduct. Some of the stuff that has happened so far would have been positively scandalous had other parties done it. In Oakville yesterday, he basically mocked protesters and made a Kim Campbell-esque crack about lost jobs in Ontario. He should be being fried for what he said, but the media hasn't done anything about. Elizabeth May certainly would be lymched by a raving crowd of suited neocons had she dared say that.
  22. Why do you guys even bother discussing the merits of various parties? The media has decided that the Conservatives are going to form a majority government.
  23. So detached from reality you're not worth the time. You stay out west and by all means gain your independence so that we don't have to keep supporting people stuck in the 19th century.
  24. The problem was the Liberals, not the NDP. Rae inherited a hopeless situation and tried to take steps to rectify the problem when the economy was very bad, and he gets unfairly blamed as a result. And who's doing the blaming? Conservatives, of course, even though Brian Mulroney during this time had been inflating the national debt considerably. One example of what Rae did was to institute so called "Rae Days" a measure that was continued by the PCs. And as for the PCs balancing the budget, they left the current Liberal government with a heft debt to pay off. Hardly what I would call fiscally responsible.
  25. That's a pretty sad comment, actually, especially coming from someone from NB. All I'm saying is that Ontario can easily go on it's own; that means our money stays in the province (country) and doesn't get doled out to provinces that can't develop their economy. As I'm sure you well know, NB is the second highest recipient per capita of our money, money that could be better spent on social services and infrastructure here.
