  1. Japan fought American for itself not for German. The Axis only exists on paper since the members never coordinated their war plans and actions. I belive that Canaidan government and other countries's governments had sought advice from lawyers to make sure their decisions were legal. They didn't speak the real reason out just for it looked like a condemnation to America.
  2. Bush's goal is to annihilate a set of current, future and possible threats to America(AQ of course at the foremost position of the list, then followed by Arabian Kings, Russia, China, Japan and European Union IMO)via the Iraq War which was an effort to control the oil threshold of the Middle East. Since nowadays American can not act like the old colonists, I mean annihilating locals and shipping "civilized" immigrants instead. So the strategy of Bush's war is to occupy the country, democratize the system and "civilize" its people, then supposing the locals will show great gratitude to their liberator and will become American allies or cooperators in the area.
  3. I think you are mistaken on this. Canada did agree to participate(actually Canada was doing its obligation as a NATO member) the mission and NATO didn't set an end date of it at the beginning. But when America started a new war in Iraq for its own interest regardless the opposition of other members of NATO, it made things different. If you review the history, you will find Japan didn't join the war which Germany launched on Soviet though Japan had a treaty with Germany because Hitler didn't inform Japanese first. And nobody, neither historians nor lawyers would agree that Japan's ground then was a betrayal to Germany. France quitted from NATO several times just for "the freedom of action for its own interests". So it was America which set Canada free from the war in Afghanistan. If American is not a superpower and the leader of the gang, I bet it have already been kicked out of NATO just for such kind of naughty doing.
  4. You are right, but you still should identify who are your enemy and who are civilians first. When you occupy an "enemy's" city, your mission will shift into some kind of police business and you should realize that the city is no longer "enemy's" but your. That means the civilians of the "enemy" country who are now under your rule should be treated as the same as your countrymen who live in Canada. Have you ever heard German air-bombed "insurgents" regardless the casualty of civilian in Paris after they occupied the city in WW2 just becasue some German soldiers were attacked by French resistants in the area?
  5. I Googled some Chinese website, though most of posters said that Tu-154 didn't have Instrument Landing System, but there was a guy who seemed very familiar Tu-154 said the lastest variant Tu-154M had ILS. He also mentioned Smolensk's northern airport was a small military airport, might not have ILS support. He said if the airport had ILS, it would guide the plane descending to 50m, then the pilots should switch into manual control. He said the pilots might be too busy to find the runway in fog at the moment and might neglect the altitude of the plane for several seconds and it would be vital. If the airport doesn't have ILS, he said it woulb be impossible to a foreign pilot to land on an unfamiliar airport in a foggy day. I suppose it was. The president was attending an historical memorial event which involved too many emotion between Poland and Russia(exactly Soviet) so he might not want to divert to Moscow just because of some fog.
  6. The plane is a Soviet-made Tu-154. Its maiden flight was in 1968 and the plane which crashed has been in service for over 20 years. Tu-154 was produced about 1000 and 66 somehow have crashed down. In China, airways once bought about 30 planes from Russia in 1990s, after 2 crashed, they had to decommission them several years later. In China, the preputation of Tu-154 is just like the Chinese pronouncation of its name---"let me die" . Though the crash may mainly be caused by fog, but its Brezhnev-timed inaccurate and maybe malfunctioned altimeter and avionics may also contribute some factors since some witnesses said the plane hit the top of a tree first before it crashed. I read from some Chinese media that Polish government and parliament have been planning to replace the presidential plane for a long time but the replacement was delayed for lacking funds.
  7. I can not see what's wrong in this. We should understand, a census form is different from those forms issured by scientists which are used for genetic research. It is more social than scientific. So people can identify themselves as what they consider themselves to be or what they consider others mostly consider them to be. There is not a certain recognized definition of the term "race". For example, in America, Korean and Chinese are two "races" in the form which Obama filled. But in China, Korean is also an ethnic minority so a Korean Chinese is also a Chinese, just like an African American is also an American. So if a Korean ethnic Chinese migrated to America and became a citizen, he could identify himself as "Chinese", "Korean" or "Chinese and Korean", depending on what he considers himself as. Sometimes what race a person identifies or considers himself or herself as depends on his or her experience and how others identify or consider what race he is. For example, if a Chinese married a Japanese, how their children identify themselves may mostly depend on their experience. If the family mostly lives in Japan, the kids may mostly consider themselves as Japanese rather than Chinese; but if the family lives in China, the kids may mostly consider themselves as Chinese. This is because Chinese and Japanese are similar in physical feature so the kids are easily identified by their classmates as "pureblood" Japanese or Chinese, and over time they will be accustomed to identify themselves as what others identify them as. On the other hand, if a black or a white married a Chinese or Japanese and the family lives in China or Japan, I bet their kids will not identify themselves as Chinese and Japanese but white or black because they may look different in physical feature so their classmates will identify them as "black" or "white", and over time they will be accustomed to identify themselves as what others identify them as. In Obama's case, since his skin color mostly inherites his father's, and people used to call African and European black and white, so we can suppose that he may have been accustomed to others, like his classmates, friend and colleagues, identify him as a "black" before he become a politician and famous to draw attention of silly writers to pry into his racial heritage for selling their papers.
  8. I agree with you on this. I also can understand the pilot or the gunners of the helicopter mistaken the camera as a RPG. It's a tragedy but sometime unavoidable in an engagement. But I just can't help having problem with the second round of shooting. There was a man laying wounded on the street, then there was a van came to pick him up, and obviously the destination was a hospital not the front line. And there were no weapons mentioned before the second round of shooting. Why does the second round of shooting need? Even if they believed the wounded man was a militiaman, but he had been wounded and then some people, maybe doctors or his families who unarmed as the video shows, came to pick him up to hospital. What's wrong with that?
  9. I think American Woman always misses your most informative posts.....
  10. Doctors also asks for government or insurance companies to pay their bill(maybe via their patients) after they treat their patients. That doesn't mean they will intentionally spread disease. It's is not odd that the CAS only pays a part of the fund which it gets from the government to foster parents, becasue it also needs to pay the bills such as the rent of its office and the salaries of its workers to keep itself operational. And in Canada, the price of almost everything is high so the cost of running the CAS may exceed the spending of fostering the children.
  11. I think, after all these disputes over the topics which you posted here, you still don't understand why you can hardly convince anyone, because you don't understand how the system works here. There is a joke: If I post in a Chinese political forum, "Do you know why Mr.H.China lived in a cheap motel when he attended the G20 meeting? He was not for saving taxpayers' money, but for convenient to procure whores inconspicuously." A minute later, I received a message from the webmaster, "Are you sure the CPC boss has fallen and has been put in jail now by his colleagues?" If the answer is "no", my post will be deleted; and if the answer is "yes", my post will be sticked on the topmost place of the forum regardless whether I'm telling the truth or not. But if I post here, said with the same way, "Do you know why Mr.H.Canada lived in a cheap motel when he attended the G20 meeting? He was not for saving taxpayers' money, but for meeting some cheerleader conveniently....", I think I will get a lot of questions, such as "Do you have any proof?" If I have, such as "I saw him, and August1991 was with me." ,my story may make the topmost headline of theStar's front page. But if I don't have any proof, my post may still make the topmost place of this forum for weeks----just being busted by angry Mr.H supporters. If all your posts were just for against CAS, you can not convince others by posting those, such as, "a immigrant whose kid was taken by CAS said CAS was wrong", "a pure blood Canadian mother whose kid was taken by CAS said CAS was wrong" or "PM said CAS was wrong"(A PM may have more influence than common Canadian, but he is not a King.) ....,etc. You must present proofs to support you point, such as "there is a person whose kid was taken just because he slightly patted his mischievous computer-game-addictive kid's ass twice, for the kid refused to attend to an important political rally with his parents for showing family value." Only such kind of proofs can prove that the CAS has been abused. Personally, I don't like the idea of taking kids away from their parents because it is against nature. When a child is taken, psychologically it is harmful not only to the parents but also to the child. I think CAS should more concentrate on effectively instructing parents how to properly educate their children, not simply take the child to a "better" family "for the child own good". Though in some extreme circumstance, such as the parents who have been proved having some mental problem and may seriously hurt their children, the children should be taken for their protection.
  12. I think I have got you point now. I suppose your purpose of this post is to tell everyone here that foreign-born Canadians also have the same rights as their native-born countrymen, even if the right of complain or whine. If native-borns can complain, why are foreign-borns surposed to have no rights to complain? If this is your purpose, I'll agree with you. But on the other hand, I agree with Muddy's statements you quoted here (I have not read the original post or debate.) I believe there is not a perfect nation or state or paradise in the world available for people to migrate to. When a person has decided to migrate to another country, he or she has to accept both the advantage and disadvantage of his or her destination. If he or she wants the country he or she will migrate to just as the same as the country he lives now, what is the purpose of the migration? I'm also a "native-born" in my hometown Beijing, where also have a large group of migrate workers and other-provinces-born citizens, though as you know most of them are pure-blood han Chinese so there is not any religionary or racial problem. And I also have read a lot of complains from internet, some are correct and others, I have to say, are just whines. I remember I once posted a post with almost the same statement as Muddy's in a Chinese forum years before I knew Canada recruited immigrants. I also asked them the same question---"if you want everything just as the same as your hometown, what is the purpose that you come here?"
  13. I agree with you on this. I'm sorry.
  14. The statements are wrong because it is based on such false belief or premise: her or his rights = Canadian's rights = human rights.
  15. If she goes to P.R.China as a honorable citizen, she will not be able to open all of the video links in bjre's post nowadays like me.
  16. In the early years of American occupation, Bush administration tried to build a western-styled ture democracy, so American soldiers scattered in the cities and towns to disarm Saddam's army and all local warlords's militias. Obviously, these guys didn't like that, so they, of course and AQs bombed everywhere to sabotage American's rule and efforts. In the last year of Bush's second term, American changed their mind and way. They mainly retreated into the Green Zoo and let the local warlords to rule their own regions, though all militias and ex-soldiers and ex-officers of Saddam's army have to wear new national army's uniforms to over up what they truly were. Since most of ex-paymasters of the suicide bombers have got their offices in the local governments even in the central government, they, and their ex-ally AQ of course don't need to bomb something to sabotage themself's rule. I agree with you on this---Bush went into a casino, after lost $1 million, now he and his successor has managed to win back $20 thousand......
  17. Maybe it is just because most Americans have hidden inside the wall of Green Zone so AQs are having problem of finding targets.....
  18. Thank you for reminding me....and God save the Queen....
  19. So Shady can proudly claim: My ex-president has established not only democracy for Iraqi and Afghan, but also two massive irreversible military fortresses for America.....
  20. Maybe this is more honest: "I know it's not easy, but if I make it easy for you, it will not easy for me.....You are far away from home. You miss your kids.......If I thought for a minute that my second term of presidency were not at stake, I would order all of you home right away....."
  21. I don't think the ship was torpedoed by North Korean. If North Korean fired a torpedo to the South Korean ship, all sonar consoles on the ship would buzz and the South Korean would be certain that they had been attacked. Considering the technical capability of the North, they have no way to sneak a warship or a sub to the South warship in torpedo range without being detected. The fact is up till now the South government is still uncertain that whether or not they have been attacked. The explosion is probably caused by its own ammunition explosion, though there is a slight possibility that it is caused by a drifting sea mine.
  22. In Yunnan Province of southwest China there is a small minority ethnic tribe called Mosuo. They still live in matriarchal socoety nowadays. In the society, women are in charge in the families and do the most of jobs, children follow their mothers' family names and are raised by their mother's families. Men's main function in the society is, wishing all conservative "family value" believing friends here will not go mad, just to produce kids for women IMO. You can Google the keyword Mosuo and find a lot of stories. Mosuo
  23. I totally agree with what you said....but the essential of my example is the most of women in both society accept the prejudiced place just because they used to it. That makes them no difference, at least doesn't makes them too much difference. Since Islamic world has become a major issue to America, to understand what they think and by which way they think is vital important to Americans. You can't understand why the women in some Islamic countries willingly accept their place in their society because you judged it by the criterion you used to, not they used to. If you read this Women's suffrage in the United States and try to understand why the most of great..great grandmothers of Americans willingly accepted their place in the society then, it would help you to understand those Muslim women nowadays.
  24. In somewhere of the world, there still are some people lives in matriarchal society. If a female member of these primitive tribes come to this forum, she will also wonder how on earth these civilized women could put up with not having a female president over 200 years.......
  25. So one day Canadian turns off the oil pipe, all American military hawks will fall.....it seems like you have unintentionally defined the term of "economy superpower"......
