  1. The fight is over because, as you point out, abortion is legalized and not murder. So, y'see, Pro choice is in fact rational.
  2. What is this garbage? Folks don't want a pipeline going through some place or other ergo they want to ban the oil industry? Thats nothing but bullshit. No pipeline here, or there, and so we deem no one has a right to earn a living? Bullshit. Do you think, in terms of your ridiculous argument, that people must wether they want to or not, purchase the goods provided by anyone producing them for the sole reason that to not purchase will therefore deny the producers 'right' to earn a living? Your whole argument is bullshit.
  3. But what if its determined that a particular pipe-line is not in Canada's best interest, what then?
  4. We (not only fishermen) need to accept any and all risk? Perhaps, but only if we and fishermen had no access to oil at all. Since fishermen and we do have access to all the oil we could ever need - I have yet to see any notice of 'sorry, no fuel available today' anywhere. The fact is we need not accept any risk at all beyond what we have already accepted. No need for increased risk and the oil would still get to consumers. We could probably induce measures reducing what risk is already there and still not see any reduction in oil supply
  5. Funny thing is, I do feel the need for some (if not all) those expensive government programs that they help pay for. Hell, not only them, but you yourself help pay for. And should they ever ask me if they can run a pipeline through my back yard for 1/4 of what I consider reasonable compensation but promise to help pay for government programs (but only once the government through law forces them to and certainly not before) - I'd tell them to kiss my marxist arse. THEN, then I would ask them to sell me some gas for my furnace to keep my house warm - and they would! Happily! With no further requirements on my part. Its a wonderful life!
  6. But it isn't murder.
  7. Fear not, poochy, Kindermorgen will do their utmost to make sure they are ignored. Just like a real democracy.
  8. OMG are we now training our animals to give enthusiastic consent?
  9. Thats right - even when those welfare tribes refuse to allow them to build pipelines. Tough being a capitalist and having to rely on everyone else. Jeez Argus, its almost like useless welfare bum mouths-to-feed are necessary for corporate well being.
  10. sounds about right. How much surface area would two rail cars of oil cover?
  11. Then perhaps the oil companies should sweeten the offer to those whose permission is required. As we all know, anyone can be bought, the trick is finding the appropriate offer. Obviously they have no intention of making that offer because - guess what - they make oodles of profit without the pipeline (at least when the price of oil was high).
  12. Build more pipelines that leak? or, since pipelines do leak, build as few as possible? I think the latter makes more sense.
  13. Good for them. They get enough oil right now without the pipeline. Why should they put up with oilspills? But you and I already know why they should put up with oilspills: So's oil company's can ship fuel to Japan cheaper than they do now. Big motivation there for folks in BC.
  14. So we agree then! Regulations are a good thing - when appropriate and reasonable. Oil spills are not good things and should somehow be avoided if at all possible. Towns burning to the ground due to unattended fuel laden trains' brakes failing are things to be avoided too. I think we can all agree on that.
  15. Argus: And this particular leak of a 200kl of oil by Husky should be looked into, should it not? Did Husky do their utmost to make the line as safe as possible?
  16. So we accept then that regs are not good enough or followed well enough. So let us not bother with them?
  17. Towns are burnt to the ground not due to lack of pipelines but due to shitass regulations that allow trains to be unattended - unattended for the sole purpose of saving money. Thats why towns burn the ground.
  18. Who says ban? Nobody. Shall I now claim that Argus thinks automobile deaths are great? Argus actually wants more autodeaths because he is against banning automobiles? Oil spills are bad things are they not? Of course they are. So lets stop pretending that oilspills are nothing and automobile accidents are nothing shall we? Pooches comments were that the oilspill is a mere 1 second discharge of the NSaskR. An olympic sized pool of oil. Big elfin whoop. My complaint is that it is a big whup. Pooches comment is that folks against oil pipelines where there were none before actually worry that the pipes will fail and there will be an oil spill? What Fantasy! Of course there will be oil spills, says Pooch, Oil spills are absolutely necessary!
  19. Wow. It's no biggy to spill oil into a river? I suggest it is a big deal - even to Husky, let alone North Battleford, - thus Husky's endeavours to contain it and probably take steps to ensure it never happens again. Its a mere bagatelle.
  20. I am doing no such thing. You are, not me. It is you who wishes the pregnant to have no other alternative but murder, not I. Not at all! A pregnant woman could very well choose to continue bearing the child and giving birth. I do not advocate removing that option nor even inhibiting that option in any way at all. I wonder where the hell you got the idea that I wish to eliminate her other choices? Not at all. I would allow the pregnant the choice to abort or not. It is you who seems to believe that she should have no choice. It is you who believes in projecting your choice upon her. Not I. But Betsy, your position is they should not be allowed to make that decision. Even if panicked or confused or distraught or duressed. Your position is that Abortion should be a criminal act and the pregnant must remain so no matter what. So what need of counselling ? In your world: none, or maybe the counsel of a lawyer. Certainly. I know of a few that didn't change their mind and some who decided for abortion instead . Y'see the common thread? Choices. Lots of choices. You wish to restrict a womans options to Zero. No options. Again, it is you who says abortion is murder. Not I. Abortion is not even petty crime. It's no crime at all. There is no murder. It is you who wishes it to be considered as such, not I.
  21. Sure it does. One can seek an abortion or not. Choice. But you don't want to see Choice. You wish it mandated that there will be no choice. So you are anti-choice and I am pro-choice. Makes perfect sense.
