  1. You're the one who can only answer two of those questions and I'm the one who's stupid. Gotcha. Which two did you get right?
  2. It's not outrageous at all. If the race is more vulnerable it should in the priority group that would also likely include the elderly - especially those who had the flu shot last year. Besides, if natives weren't given priority status, I would have to read a flood of posts about genocide and that would be bad for my health.
  3. Even more bizarre, they had Joe "I signed up dead people" Volpe at the press conference.
  4. So anti-gambling associations should be allowed to blockade the entrances to native owned casinos?
  5. Newfoundland was the recipient of the biggest federal transfer in history. Off-shore oil revenues constitutionally belong to the federal government. Your daddy gave you his business and you're busting his balls for cutting off your allowance.
  6. Here's the reason for the decrease: Here's what's important: http://www.thefreeradical.ca/Violent_crime...tics_Canada.htm Gang violence is the growing problem in Canada. What mandatory minimums do is provide a clear and consistent deterrent to committing violence. If I was running a gang "you'll be out in no time" would be a big part of my sales program. It's impossible for the long gun registry to have any impact on violent crime. Only 2% of homicides are committed with registered long guns.
  7. Immigration needs to be fixed. Bring in immigrants who value and can contribute to Canada. Bring in doctors and other professionals that are needed. No more Suaad Hagi Mohamuds who even make Hedy Fry look smart... well almost. And let's try to weed out the fanatics. Ask pointed questions about training camps, etc so if they lie, there's reason to boot them out. Letting terrorists in and then paying millions of dollars to follow them around isn't a good use of taxpayers' dollars. Of course this is what needs to be done, but try it and the opposition will yell "racist."
  8. Here's Pearson's speech to the legion and other coverage from the time. http://archives.cbc.ca/politics/language_culture/topics/80/ Regarding the logo issue, WTF are Hedy Fry and Charlie Angus looking at? The logo isn't even close to the Conservative one. They should be laughed out of politics. I wish Canada would have stood up for its old logo and against the dictators of the IOC. Now we're stuck with an ugly logo. I'd rather have just a red single maple leaf on white. Keep it simple.
  9. Sorry, you can grow an extra plant, 200 in total for personal use without facing a mandatory jail term. If you get busted, just be sure to say it is for personal use. The judge would need to see evidence of trafficking and there would be evidence of the number of plants. Confiscating pot grown for personal use (under 201 plants) would be done the way it's always been done. If you're being charged with having over 201 plants you can bet they'll keep the evidence. What's so hard to understand?
  10. Try 199. The judge would then ask for evidence. If a 3 Kg bag of pot was presented, you'd be in shit, because that is beyond what the law considers a reasonable amount for personal use.
  11. Intent isn't triggered by amount, unless that amount is over 200 plants. This is no different than the cops confiscating alcohol from underage people. Pot is still illegal so plants will be confiscated. But it is clear that you won't go for prison if you are growing more than a few plants for yourself.
  12. If you pay attention to the story, it never once says that funding is being cut. It says how much they were seeking and that their request for additional funding was denied. When something stays at the current level it slips back? Journalism Propaganda at its best.
  13. But the NDP... With the polls the way they are, why do you think the Liberals want to have an election? How much did the low vote count in the last election cost the party based on $1.95 per vote/per year?
  14. Her lawyer should be smart enough to figure out that her signature on her immigration forms likely isn't hers, making them invalid.
  15. It's triggered by the intent of trafficking.
  16. Can you do me a favour and actually read the bill? Staying uninformed isn't mandaTORY. http://www2.parl.gc.ca/Sites/LOP/LEGISINFO...&Language=e
  17. Click on the options button and select the standard display mode.
  18. I've posted this before. It's Ignatieff talking about possibly having to resort to targeted assassinations and accepting tactics such as sleep deprivation techniques to fight terrorism. I agree with this version of Ignatieff on torture. IMO, calling sleep deprivation "torture" is on par with calling spanking "child abuse." That said, think this video is a huge problem for him politically.
  19. Registered long guns only account for 2% of homicides in Canada. That's approximately 12 per year. These people are dead, so it didn't help them. Police can't rely on it either, because the information is unreliable. They must assume a gun could be present at all times. If not, the registry is endangering their lives. Put the money towards getting and keeping gang members off the street or buy some MRIs.
  20. So a media buy should be determined by how much is being spent on something non-related? Is that how any budget should be judged? http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianp...2AW0kF0Qx8tc7KAMaybe this should be in the Ignatieff is a flake thread. Isn't this the guy who wants to spend $300 million of taxpayers' money for an election that would increase exposure to H1N1?
  21. From OP: Ironically, the bolded words have now been edited out from the link. They do, however, clarify what this story is about. Here's what I think likely happened: Bruce Cheadle gets a good (in his mind) idea for a story. In it, he plans to hammer the government for what he feels are partisan ads. The knife he plans on using is "no television ads are in the works to combat swine flu." This isn't something he's not certain of, so he places a call. He doesn't hear back, and he has to get a story done, so he just goes with it. On Sunday evening, he gets a call that debunks his story. At that time it's too late to come up with another story so he tries to make it work by comparing and criticizing the amount spent on both campaigns. I guess if he had longer that Sunday evening he could have noted the staggering amount of free publicity H1N1 has been given or written a story on how Bob Rae might be responsible for the apathy due to Rae's comments on kissing babies. But he didn't have the time, so he had to run the joke of a story. He just forgot to edit out the bold words before he sent if off.
