  1. two threads not good enough for you? Try this one.. its called F35 Purchase... where your comment would fit in nicely... http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=20677 Or you could use the OTHER F35 thread that has Bob Rae in the thread title.
  2. You want to cite this..as all the evidence I have found in the past 5 years and have posted on these forums have linked to the Conservative Policies and expansion of Foreign workers coming into Canada.
  3. No its not clear... Unless you are Shady. That is why I put MAY into the thread title. What we know is that the Conservatives hire American Firms and Republican operatives to run their election campaings during the Writ. These Operatives man the phones and influence the vote. Some have indicated that this is a practice that Liberals and Conservatives have been using for many elections. I don't know if that is accurate or not either. What I see is ONE section of the Elections Act. Therefore you cannot say they are in violation until you know the full act. Perhaps there is a loophole for paid firms. Perhaps there is a loophole for volunteers. This firm has contradicted themselves. I am not certain why.
  4. Power and Poltics is looking to set up a debate with Manning and Broadbent. Well I like both these guys.. I hope it happens...
  5. I don't know if its manufactured or not.. that is for someone else to decide. You could argue that they are NOT in violation of the act below.. or you can argue that they are.. The evidence is in the article and I have no idea if its being pursued with action or not. What I do know is that the thread title says MAY and its PRime for discussion. Under the Canada Elections Act section 331 (Non-interference by Foreigners), it is illegal for a non-resident to directly participate in election campaigns in Canada: “No person who does not reside in Canada shall, during an election period, in any way induce electors to vote or refrain from voting or vote or refrain from voting for a particular candidate unless the person is (a) a Canadian citizen; or ( a permanent resident.”
  6. Thanks August.. this thread is quite a brain teaser. I like all the comments... I am more inline with WB and FT comments... so need need to repeat. I just thought this idea/scenario for a discussion thread is an A+
  7. How is it Eastern Bullshit considering a WR staffer put the issue out there. It was a bad move.. and I agree with all your analysis to this point.. I just don't see the Eastern Connection. Perhaps its because the Pro Life in other provinces choose the Family Coalition, and Christian Heritage parties cause they long ago realized the PCs and Conservatives will never advance their cause but play games with it.
  8. If voter turnout increases this election , it will be to toss out the PCs. The 50% that don't vote... don't vote.. I think that is pretty clear. You can allocate them to whatever political party dream you wish. When voter turnout drops its because Politicians and governments no longer connect to the public. Many governments of the past governed and people liked and were happy with them. They also voted in numbers above 50%. Often in the 65% range and above. The PCs are in trouble.. I expect them to be reduced to an opposition party facing a Majority government. I also expect them to fade away...as has happened to every party to govern in Alberta. You sound like a disgruntled PC.
  9. Here we go again... The Conservatives use Republican firms and footsoldiers... Get the US based CEO a phone... and access to the CIMS program...and lets violate Canadas Election Rules. http://www.vancouverobserver.com/politics/2012/04/09/republicans-ground-canada-helped-elect-harpers-tory-government?page=0,1 Conservative Tweet: U.S. strategists "on the front lines" during Canada's election day “Front Porch is on the front lines as Conservatives are taking over Canadian Parliament!” Front Porch's Twitter feed stated on election day, May 2. Americans PJ Wenzel and Matthew Parker -- director and CEO of Front Porch Strategies, respectively – participated directly in at least two Canadian Conservative campaigns, according to social media updates and a photograph from the successful election campaigns of associate defence minister Julian Fantino and MP Rick Dykstra, immigration minister Jason Kenney's parliamentary secretary.
  10. PCs haven't gone left. Where they have gone is fat, bloated, lazy, full of entitlement and pretty much have been for quite sometime. Its part of the problem of being in Government too long. Their campaign is pathetic, and shows a complete disconnect to the people. They are the Goverment of the Government. One thing that Earnest Manning realized to late for the Socreds. Was to never have a Federal and Provincial Party with the same name so as to keep the stink of one government off the other. I expect the PCs to get tossed out and they deserve it. No one can be certain what the next government will bring but as is Albertas History.. they make a wholesale change and start from scratch and stick with it for the next 30 years or more... I expect the PCs to go into the same history books as the Social Credit in Alberta. I figure they are about to join their PC counterparts in BC, and Sask. Gone forever... I would consider this election more of a Coup d'état then anything else. A province with the lowest voter turnout across the country suggests that citizens gave up on Alberta Politicians long long ago.
  11. I believe they are reaffirming the vision and direction of Jack Layton will not be set aside. Hardly any different from the NDP using previous leaders to deliver a message. Jack Layton spent his time focusing on Tommy Douglas and quoted Tommy Douglas... for all it was worth. Courage My Friends.. The ad is ok as far as ads go. I am certain the Conservative Attack machine will size it up and locate the juggular. I believe the Liberals will have a tougher time addressing this ad. So.. its about par for the course.. and one step up on the previous opposition leaders of Dion and Ignatieff.
  12. I am not quite clear on this. I thought that NFLD privated their Hydro Development to BRINco who then set up the contract with Quebec because it was cheaper and easier to sell power to Quebec then to the states....Perhaps Joey Smallwood should have nationalized the hydro industry development and you would have control today. Regardless any contracts involving hydro would have successor rights, and penalties.. IE if Quebec cancelled any deals there would be penalties .. if NFLD cancelled any deals there would be penalties... It seems like a complicated mess... Perhaps you can explain it all to me.
  13. Kinda funny to read the Conservative Apoligists.. If I didn't know better I would think the Liberals were still in power. So far... I can see why the Cons were so frustrated by Liberals ducking for so many years. But now its the Cons ripping us off and lieing.... so its ok now. Its ok as long as its the Cons acting crooked. Ever since Mulroney.. corrupt government practices have been the norm. Mulroney Government and Harper Government not much difference.
  14. Yes, its why they have lowered labour costs even more with the use of Migrant workers.. Here is a little snip of the Chinese workers that the government has increased to the tune of 750,000 migrants IIRC. Since I know alot of people from your area working in Alberta (they used to work in Ontario) here is where the rest of the workforce is coming from.... ---------------------- Sinopec, the contractor owned by the Chinese government, could not be reached for comment. Someone from the company had signing authority on all of the workers' bank accounts. The workers were living in a camp and could request spending money to buy items from the camp store, said union representative Wayne Prins. That signing authority could also have been used to take money from the accounts. On Saturday, Liu Ruijuan, the 26-year-old widow of welder Ge Genbao, said her husband told her he would make the equivalent of $600 Cdn a month. He should have been making $30 an hour, or at least $4,800 a month, plus overtime and benefits, according to the union's collective agreement. ---------- Sun Shumei, widow of electrical engineer Liu Hongliang, said her husband made about $8,800 during the six months he worked here before he died -------------------------------------------- Most temporary foreign workers in Alberta are hired individually. When Canadian Natural Resources hired the Chinese company to build the tanks, labourers and management included, -----------------------------
  15. Scouts no.. but I think the Venturers did in my area.
  16. Sure it wasn't an insurance company not wanting guns in the basement of the school?
  17. I know lots of people on welfare who sit around smoke pot and vote conservative. They like to go fishing and hunting. Regardless the funny thing with Conservatives is they like to have whipping boys...and anecdotal evidence.... Wages are down... $60k isn't a ton of money..and Conservatives like lower wages for workers..
  18. Conservative Call Centre RMG calls Conservative Supporters. That is remarkable...
  19. Its just a matter of time... Now the ball is going back into RMGs court. Why the Tory Campaign manager would wait till now is rather odd. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/tory-supporters-misled-by-live-calls-in-2011-election-complaint-says/article2395565/
  20. He seems wery wery angwy with the Cwonswervatives..
  21. You have a fun choice of words....
  22. Its tough living on the Rock.. Ironic seeing where this thread has taken itself. No one should be dissing our last Province... and if it took 60 years to get on the good side of the economic fence thats fantastic. And quite frankly, standing up for your natural resources and protecting them and using them for local gains is smart. Kudos again to Williams... he single handedly took on Harper and won... and punished the CpC FOR An election cycle. ABC
  23. Saskatchewan has continued to grow with the Sask party just as it did with the NDP in power. The main difference is that the Sask party runs deficits Saskatchewan is and was doing well. It had high GDP growth and a triple-A credit rating before your Sask Party took office in 2007. NDP left office with a 1 billion dollar surplus that is no longer available.
  24. I knew we would agree sooner or later..
