New poll shows NDP tied with conservatives
madmax replied to WWWTT's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That is Hillarious. I would love to see the Liberals run on that.. In Quebec... I expect the Conservatives and the Right Wing Media to slag that kind of divisive mud. Its what comes with the turf.. when the Opposition gathers momentum.. Exoect the CPC attack adds to read just like that... Outside of Quebec... In Quebec, they won't run adds like that.. -
Really, that long ago.. It was a poor ad..

Tory MP tells high schoolers they should carry guns

You are not citing any reason.. You are digging yourself a hole, and seem to function on .. if i change the channel with every post I make, no one will notice. You said.. High school kids are, generally responsible enough to carry firearms to class and I think you are making a foolish statement , much like the MP to make such an irresponsible and foolish statement. However there is a difference between you and an MP. He has an audience and should be speaking responsibly to our youth and have the Wisdom to know that we don't arm kids and send them to school. -
Does Stephen Harper suffer from Hero Syndrome?

I guess you missed the Liberals are out on their asses and experiencing life as the 3rd party. I am following Conservative Bagman.. I have seen alot of Conservative Corruption in short period of time as well as questionable antics, many of which follow the Liberal pattern. Particularly their use of the Senate is also of interest to me. The Conservatives have the In and Out scam in their back pocket.. and as u recall.. the Liberals didn't have one "scandal" they had many, and these all took time to fester.. no different then the Mulroney government before them.. This government is well on its way... Welcome to the Forum HardGuy -
Seniors were well aware of the Harper Budget to move OAS to 67. Even though many local MPs said it wasn't on the table and was fear mongering from the opposition. Its a policy thing... I think its poor policy and many Seniors today who will be collecting OAS at age 65 and those who are going to collect in the next couple years are doing a couple things.. 1) Thanking their lucky stars its not going to burn them 2) Understand full well that those following them are getting the shaft.
-
That is to Prevent Current Seniors.. of which many are Conservative Voters... from either not going to the polls for their party or even switch to another party. Both which are important statements. The CPC is gambling that they can get enough support back with this measure. Some might consider this the only "Tough" thing in the budget. Many are asking "WHY" Goes along with the MPs protecting their own Platinum Pension scheme with some token language in this budget.
-
Fact is I know of few people who plan to collect OAS.. most young people intend as did the generations before them.. to retire on their own savings and savings plans. The reality hits home to many that life does not go as planned and that the ability to collect OAS at age 65 makes a huge difference in their lives ..TODAY! The Baby boomers are already in the OAS zone, so essentially after the babyboomers have "faded away" the tail end of boomers and x and y, can wait longer to collect.. while all data currently suggests that this next generation is going to require MORE help by the time they hit 65 and not less help as the saving plans and other schemes have not provided the said returns. That said, whats done is done.. there is no actuarial as far as I know to back up the assertion that OAS would collapse the Nation if this adjustment wasn't made, but the decision has been made. My experience with those people from 50 to 55 is that if you haven't packed away a good pension plan by that age and your Freedom 55 program has been set back 15 years... from a little stock market incident or a bankruptcy (orchestrated or real).. then its highly likely that as you get older your company will give you the boot.. I mean a retirement party around the age of 60 .. and you will enjoy your new job serving coffee until you hit age 65 67

the data is that the Sexually assualts on young woman is most often from a Relative or Close Friend. On top of that the vast majority of Sexual assaults are never reported, few go to any kind of court/trial system. But you are correct... the whole things sends the wrong message. And it puts Gun Owners on the defence to defend such stupidity. -

Considering I did both .. there is a HELL OF A LOT OF DIFFERENCE being in the Military vs knocking off a groundhog. I suggest you not travel down that path. The Pro Posters on this forum are playing possum, and the Con Posters are at the other extreme. The MPs Brain is Unarmed and his both foolish and dangerous. Clowns like him give Gun owners a bad rap, no actually Clowns like him give MPs a bad rap. I don't agree with many of the arguments in this thread. This thread isn't about Gun Safety programs.. however the statements made by the MP are not Safe Practices for anyone. -
Comparing moving OAS back 2 years cannot be compared to a Fraudlent Act by the Conservatives?
-
Thats nonsense but its exactly what the government would be happy to have you believe.

Gordon Campbell Taxed the middleclass to death.. That party is going to get the kick it deserves...
-
Sorry.. can't give the MPs or Harper a free lunch on Platinium MP pensions. Its a Minute change... these are going to remain Platinum pension plans... not even a drop to Gold... MPs do not deserve these pensions... and how about we ask them to wait till 67 to collect instead of 55
-
LMAO.. I tend to compare a Danny Williams Budget to a Conservative Harper Budget.
-
LOL.. Considering that EI was in FINE shape with a $56Billion surplus... and now.. as if EI Premiums didn't raise enough for our government... They do this to us next.. "The employment insurance tax is going up $600 million a year . . . that's a big wack to businesses and employees," Bend Over..
-
LMAO.. I don't trust this government specifically when it comes to their budget. I don't believe they have EVER hit a target. A good Budget isn't the one you project and then miss the target. Jury is out.

You have to be kidding right? Grant Devine Bankrupted the Province.. He Put Hospitals in everytown...of course they had to be closed.. the Province was Bankrupt and the public knew what was coming and choose the NDP. It wasn't a selection for fancy promises and more stuff... they just received that from the Conservatives.. they needed the Provinces Debt reigned in and the NDP did it as they had done before.. Not only did the NDP inherit debt from Grant Devine, the NDP also inherited back their own legacy of a province sleeping at the wheel. Between Blakeney and Romanow, the Tories were in power only long enough to run it deeper in the ground. Our economy, and the world economy, sucked at the time and let's face it, the Tories possessed little in the form of "know-how", focused-governing skills, or common intellect. That party was full of cowboys and characters, the likes of Ralph Katzman, Eric Berntson and my favorite Saskatchewan criminal, Colin Thatcher.

Yes.. Its responsible to make our Seniors shoulder the burden a few more years. Its responsible because.. well.. the money is there now.. it will be there for the boom and it will run a surplus vs GDP when the boom is over... It reminds me of the CPP scare that the public bought into.. Its been going on since CCP was created... And its good for 70Years... So.. consider OAS as a part of GDP , unless u believe the economy is going to permanently shrink..

Those citations have been posted and ignored many times.. and you will ignore them too.. as I know I have posted them in other threads you participated in over the years. they are from Stats Canada. The data Does not Include TommyDouglas and 17 Balanced Budgets. http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/opinions/opinion/tommy-douglas-the-pragmatic-socialist/article1806775/?service=mobile "When Mr. Douglas took office in 1944, Saskatchewan had a debt of $218-million – 38 per cent of provincial GDP. By 1949, he had reduced the debt to $70-million. By 1953, he had eliminated it. By 1961, when he left office, he had produced 17 successive budget surpluses. By reducing the debt, and thereby reducing interest costs, he was able to spend more on public services – without raising taxes." For Every Bob Rae.. there is one or more Grant Devine... Bob Rae record stands.. and has been judged accordingly. Which leaves us back to the stats... which does include the Rae Era and Doesn't include the Tommy Douglas era which would really skew the stats in favour of the NDP. To put in Perspective... what the 1990s Liberals did to fix the cumlative debt and deficits of the two previous governments Mulroney and Trudeau.. the NDP have done in West on more then one occassion cleaning up Conservative Messes. Therefore.. one would expect that successful parties will not repeat the mistakes of the past. For some.. the Parties had to disband.. and go into hiding for a decade or two.. Which is why its often difficult to find the PCs in Western Canada... and a new party forms with all the same players and sometimes with a better playbook. Go through these threads on this forum from 2006 forward and you will not find any praise for fiscal wisdom by the Current Government. I predict they will never balance their books. You quote above me is with regards to economist and you are correct.. which was the point I was making and you got it. Because I believe the reverse is also true. I can only go by the platform of the 2011 NDP campaign. I think it has more potential then the Conservative Platform. The NDP platform focused on a Balanced Budget the Conservatives plan had been on Deficit Spending. Its hard to say EI was "ABUSED" considering it had accumulated a $56Billion dollar surplus. That was moneys put in by the EMPLOYEES and the EMPLOYERS. But the Surplus monies were not returned to those whom put into it nor was it put into programs or support for unemployed. It was given away in the form of tax cuts from the General Revenues to Corporations. Some would consider that Abuse of the system. If you tax me more.. provide less services ... then give the surplus to others... that is exaclty what both the Liberals and Conservatives did. The Liberals used part of the surplus to run balanced budgets.. the Conservatives just blew the bank. Had nothing in the coffers when EI was needed.. thus having no choice but to go into deficit. As for Green "Money Burning Energy" the EcoEnergy Home Retrofit program was the other program the NDP had the CPC implement. It took people OFF of EI and put them to work. It took the underground contractor on the same playing field as the legitimate contractor because they had to be registered for homeowners to receive the credit. It generated revenue back to the government. It was a damn good program and I have a number of Conservative Contractors in my area who had no idea that Harper had been wanting to kill the program.. didn't want it renewed , and only offered it as an election bone last year. Then they didn't renew it. We have really good coffee in the morning now. However.. I must say... that NDP does have its work cut out for it in Ontario. That said.. The Conservatives are more interested in Large Expenditures and reduced Revenues... and it will lead to the same outcome it lead to in the United States and Greece. Larger Deficits.. More "Austerity" lol -

Thank you.. Here is Harpers Job Action Plan in the 2011 election As you are from London.. I am sure you enjoyed the Prime Ministers Propoganda visit. As I said the Conservatives are weak pawns when it comes to understanding industry. I haven't seen any smarts from Flaherty when it comes to finances. I also have no value for people of the same mindset in a room chicken nodding that a tax break creates jobs or investment when the data doesn't support it. I will state that the tax break for Corporations lowers government revenues... I wouldn't be surprised if that last round of Corporate tax cuts matches almost dollar for dollar the size of the current deficit.
