  1. Reformers no longer exist. The folded up their tent to become Blue Lieberals.
  2. Untrue picture? I never try to do that. Just ruins credibility. Perhaps this will help. How much more do Public Employees like Argus Make then Private Sector Employees That is 41.7% MORE then the private sector. And a fully paid layoff. IF cutting private sector wages is good for the goose, then its good for the gander. Particularly in a recession. There is nothing "special" about Public Sector employees. Is there?
  3. Harper is doing an excellent job of hiding his stink.
  4. Good luck with that, I wish you the best. Wow, I could have sworn I used the roads alot less then the McCains and Irvings. Fact is, people who pay higher taxes use more services and more government money then those who do not. They just don't want anyone to know. You want to see who lines up to the government for Grants and property access, it isn't John Doe. The banks got in line too, they sure did ask for alot of money. I know of few individuals with that much need for government cash. As the Government holds the purse strings, the government is look upon as an endless treasure trove of cash to plunder. Best take a visit to Ottawa and see who the hangers on are. You will meet the fat cats, some corrupt, some greedy, who want a piece of our money.
  5. Cutting Taxes hasn't been saving jobs either. Cutting taxes isn't about jobs, cutting taxes is about cutting taxes. There are far to many variables with regards to employment growth that have little to do with a corporate tax cut. But just keep thinking that way. It just hasn't been effective, but continue with your positive thinking.
  6. It only matters what hardcore Harper supporters think. The Reform Element have given up on Senate Reform, just like they caved in on those Gold Plated Pensions. Now the CPC are in Power, and can do something about those pensions, nothing will happen.I don't believe that Harper has any principles, short of power. That doesn't put him in any different category then a Liberal. It just seems that the Right are happy with this version of Big Government, Big Spending, and Big Patronage. Brian Mulroney should be proud. IF only they were on talking terms
  7. You are deserving of one of those appointments. And had you got it, I wished you had alot of family and friends.
  8. Worthy of repeating.
  9. There is a sucker born every minute. This is not about Senate Reform. Just as this Manning, Is not this Manning.... who actually campaigned for Senate Reform. And these appointments have nothing to do with Senate Reform, but are CPC bagman and Organizers getting their patronage. Yup, that's reform
  10. Wow.. Scriblett. I am impressed. Congrats. The GG part is icing on the cake.
  11. Wow, such credentials for the Senate
  12. People get sick. They shouldn't be paid for being off work. The public sector wages, benefits, pension and paid sick pay are out of line with mainstream Canadians working in 2008/09.
  13. Public Sector employees do not set the bar for anyone other then Public Sector Employees. Public sector contracts have no effect on the increase of wages and benefits in the private sector. Apparently, public sector employees such as yourself, suggets the only way to make Canada better is to keep your wages high. I disagree. THese high wages are resulting in an elite group, paid for by the taxpayer. Sure, your Tommy Douglas now. LOL. Easily replaceable and for alot less money. Many people in these fields would be willing to work in the public sector for 25% less and without the paid sick pay. Minimum wage? Who said anything about minimum wage. And no company paid benefits and pensions is not only the norm, but what companies that have them are shedding. A 25% pay cut is not going to put you, yes you Argus, anywhere near minimum wage. Try another avenue. I have heard that over 100 times from management staff. Funny thing is the attrition rate is marginal when the action plan is implemented. Same for the general workforce. Sure they will, everyone will quit.... , it just doesn't happen. And if you believe that your job is not replaceable or that competent people cannot be found, willing to work for less, you are fooling yourself. I like my profession
  14. It's a Federal Forum. I also include Federal Politicians and Senators. They need a paycut. You can start a similar thread in the Provincial Forums.
  15. So, thinking of driving ...... Senate needs to be abolished. IT is a joke, and will always be a joke.
  16. Shhhsshhs. Just get the car... Ok, I admit, I have no idea what Topaz is trying to say.
  17. COLA, cola is a leftover from the 80s. Cola is virtually been eradicated from the Private Sector. 25% reduction in pay. Elimination of taxpayer paid benefits. Elimination of taxpayer paid pensions. Elimination of paid sickdays. This isn't alot to ask. Cuts could go alot deeper.
  18. You can call me madmax Overinflating your worth and what you do is typical of a public sector employee such as yourself. You are not productive. A 25% pay cut is necessary. But not just that, you can purchase your own pension plan, and benefit plan and not ride on the backs of the taxpayers. Now here is a Border enforcement "ASSISTANT" Not bad for an entry level job. hmmm... quite the statement. ROTFLMAO. Sure Argus, I believe you. Here is a position that answers the phone at the tax office. Not a bad starting wage. Most people in call centres make minimum wage. Now Argus, to be fair and honest with the readers, here is a comparable job to your hypothetical. Argus you seem to have an honest Public Sector opinion of the Private Sector....... Here are Costco Wages. Since you care so much about a Costco employee
  19. Sure, I believe you. Please put up some job postings for your field and for the private sector. The polling numbers here, are reflective on the ground. And this is a hack site, which means that in the coffee shop sphere these numbers are going to support cuts to the public sector. As the wages for people decline, it is very difficult to justify continuing to overpay public sector employees.
  20. I follow your logic. This would apply if a "Danny Williams" initiative took place in Alberta. Newfoundland doesn't have alot of pull in the Oil market and that is the only resource that could lead to foreign shennanigans. Well, oil and bananas and considering some of the posters here, Perhaps Danny qualifies as bananas
  21. ROTFLMAO The whopper of the week.
  22. No more then it is the fault that some private companies might face deficit. But it has more to do with competition. Lower wages, benefits, and Pensions is what we need to compete against in a global economy, regardless of profit or loss. Pensions and Benefits must be provided by the employee and not the employer. And there is no need to pay higher salaries then the market will bear in the public sector. There are many people with the skills and capabilities who can do many of these bureacratic jobs for $20,000 to $30,000 without demanding benefits, pensions and sick pay.
  23. YUP! How far do you want to carry the discussion...... I am for hire by the way.
  24. What are you talking about? I am speaking of the Public Sector. Not Society, just a group of workers who should not be paid for being sick. I am not saying fewer sick days. I am saying NO PAY FOR SICK DAYS. Lower pay, of course, most other people in the private sector are adjusting. There are entire centres set up to adjust people to this new lifestyle. The old ways, are no longer sustainable. Who mentioned anything about worse working conditions? Public Sector Workers make more then most in the private sector. The CPC government has overspent and must make cuts. Public Sector workers could easily handle a 25% cut to pay. Pensions should be completely eliminated and the employee can contribute to their own pension plan. Cuts to wages are necessary. Cuts to sick days, is merely eliminating a luxury. Why should Public Sector employee receive luxuries that make no sense?
  25. It may be called negotiation. And it is time for all Public Sector Union Workers and Management, to give up these costly, unnecessary sick days. You do not make the company money when you are missing work. You are costing the company... this being US the taxpayer, money while you are at home collecting full pay. Perhaps public sector unions and those in public sector management positions have positioned themselves outside the mainstream private sector unions/ management let alone those unorganized. Time to completely end the Pensions, Benefits and have paycuts to the public sector and starting asap. 25% cuts immediately.
