If the bird flies, we could go for rides. I would ask Jerry drop by my airport and pick me up, then we head over to Alberta, take you for a ride (that would be two...the first is the money spent building it), and the three of us would enjoy life like an MP, without a care in the world. Heck, we could even fly right passed those corporate auto exec jets and give them the finger....

Sid Ryan of Cupe Apologizes for Comments on Israel
madmax replied to tamtam10's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
tamtam...The fact that you start many new threads and they all happen to have a link to to informed vote, is not missed by anyone on this forum. You are bordering on abusing the discussion forums of Maple Leaf Web. Interesting that you have never ever ever linked any other source then informed vote. Interesting that all your new posts start with a link to informed vote. Here is a short list of you posting a link to the informedvote front webpage as well as some deeper articles. Everytime informedvote updates its front page there is post from you??? That is quite a track record for one source and you have never ever cited another source for any of your opening posts or the handful of posts outside a sales pitch to informedvote.ca MLW isn't meant to be a promotional site for informedvote. -
We can brag that we pay public servants super wages, pensions and benefits... for our warehouse, resource based, tech free country. I have read all the problems on the fiscal side of the Arrow..... but it is still a unique chapter of our history. It is a sense of national pride for a plane that never made production. It was our "going to moon" vision that a man named Kennedy set his sights on. We are all allowed our dreams..... just as the chief is allowed to kill them.

There is a huge difference between a military court and a civy court.

I don't believe that you hate soldiers. Nor do I believe that the majority of soldiers share your views although there are those that would. I am in touch with many and have found many divergent and intense views. That doesn't stop any of them from doing their jobs as professionals.
-
You are a nut if you believe that! Here is what happens when things go wrong for a soldier A soldier is ultimately held responsible for his actions.

By the sound of the talibans injuries from an airstrike, he may not have had any arms, or hands, it appears that the wounded was in very very bad shape.
-
Israel will charge its soldiers.... guilt and innocences is determined by the courts The differences between these two cases are extreme. The Taliban insurgent is described as mortally wounded. What was the purpose of the shooting and who was there that complained. As it was a "Canadian" heading an Afghan detachment... where did the information come from?

Not to be outdone..... IF Only I waited before posting...... I also JUST RECEIVED an EVALUATION from DION!!! Yes that DION not the singer. Its one of those 10%ers that people like myself took the CPC to task for, for using taxpayers money for political propoganda. It seems that the cashed starved LPC have decided to play the CPC game. My personal opinion is that the CPC should reimburse the government for EVERY 10%er that an MP sent outside of his/her riding. My personal opinion is that the LPC should do the same. My gut tells me that only the CPC could pay up, whereas the LPC would have to wait for more public funding to come in before they could payback the taxpayer  It appears an impossible task to clean house....

I can't stop laughing. I received in the mail today an evaluation package, asking for my opinion of the work that our CPC MP has done. Lets see.. 1) The MP had a short break, then went to parliment for their orientation 2) The MP spent sometime with CPC members and a trip out west. 3) The MP went back to parliment for a few days. 4) The MP set up the office by December. 5) The MP attended the Santa Clause Parade 6) The MP went back to parliment. 7) The MP went on a paid vacation... and hasn't been seen since. 8) The MP has an add looking for an assistant as of January. 9) The MP is nowhere to be seen. 10) The MP had a great Christmas and Happy New Year. 11) The MP has been enjoying time away from Ottawa and being somewhere with family. 12) 2,200 people have lost their jobs or had their closures announced since he took office in October. Whats the value of my MP? PRICELESS!!!

While my old shirts say "kill them all let God sort them out", every soldier knows the repurcussions of their actions and that shit goes downhill.

How big should government be, how low the taxes?
madmax replied to Barts's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So far so good..... Environmental taxes don't work, and municipal governments and Provincial governments like to make rules that are supposed to economically punish end users but require the tax revenues from environmental abuse. The tire tax in Ontario has been implemented in numerous ways for numerous good intentions and over 20 years, exactly NOTHING has been accomplished, short of the government now dropping the disposal tax and moving it over to the source, much like the FST was prior to the existence of the GST. This is more tax shifting, that sounds great to certain people in the environmental lobby, and is great for governments to find another way to pick our pocket but this is nothing more then a SIN tax. It is not an environmental solution. THe best source of environmental protection is enforcing environmental laws and standards and holding those standards up as a ticket to enter our markets. None of this costs the tax payer a nickel in terms of a tax without a goal. I do not believe in the bait and switch tax tactics that are supposed to help the environment. -

Dear Iggy, This is Not a Year for an Election
madmax replied to Progressive Tory's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hard worker that I am, fed the poor in the morning of Christmas, and worked in the afternoon and evening, Christmas, Boxing day and straight through...... (I am for hire....union contractual neg is a specialty) Glad to hear you enjoyed your 2weeks off..... your absense from your place of employment is not missed. A common practice in the Private sector is to have everything packed and the police ready to escort the employee off the premises on their first day back from their paid vacation. We can only wish Happy New Year btw.... -

Jerry wants to fire you Odd Sox wants to fire you and use the money for beer. Of course your position is replaceable. I also recognise that you are paid significantly higher then the private sector and based upon your own testimony, accomplish very little. So, who needs you and why should we pay a premium for this poor service? If we have to have tax cuts, you are going to have to take a pay cut. If we are going to continue in this deficit direction, we may have to force the government into terminating positions such as yours. All business and industry make similar decisions based upon revenue and services. -

I like this comment, because it reflects what I hear when speaking to government officials and MPs and MPPs. Am I too list 10s, hundreds or a thousand companies? Where would you like me to start? -

Aid Appeal - MP calls for Gaza ceasefire 6:43pm 1/5/2009 It may be half a world away - but the conflict in Gaza hasn't gone unnoticed by one Local MP. Westlock-St. Paul MP Brian Storseth is echoing the federal government's call for Israel and Hamas to agree to an immediate ceasefire. But where the government says Hamas must first end their attacks on Israeli civillians, Storseth has gone one step beyond the Government's official line saying Israel must also end their Eighteen month long Blockade of Gaza. -
You were the one that talked about all the "Fun" you had in your younger days. I envisioned your comments as one of a Satyr.

Flaherty hints at tax cuts as consumer confidence dips
madmax replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't know how a government could survive if it cut its income source off completely. Forestry and Auto don't require bailouts as much as the industry and forestry require stronger laws to keep profitable operations from being purchased for their technology then relocated offshore. The loans are to help operations move and to help operations move, some of these facilities must maintain operation for a few years. It is to help with a harmonious closure. No matter what the government does with its friends who are lining up for their corporate welfare cheques, none of this money creates markets or a consumer base. So what is the purpose? Meanwhile.... Tens of thousands of jobs could have been saved with a strong national policy, protecting jobs, technology and investment in Canada. Having previously participate in a plant takeover to keep hundred of Jobs in Canada, from a "bankrupt" operation, that is still in Canada and seems to be doing better then many operations, it didn't cost the tax payer a dime. Mills were being shut down during a housing boom that lasted years. Obviously the government is totally unprepared and unable to deal with forestry on any level, short of the possibility of large forestry companies getting in line for a welfare cheque. This is a Federal Conservative government with a poor track record of fiscal management. Don't hold your breath. -
