  1. hahahahahaha... You confuse politics with giving a shit about the unemployed.
  2. Natural gas price falls below $3 US By Dan Healing, Calgary HeraldAugust 20, 2009Comments (11) CALGARY - Hard-hit Calgary natural gas producers are increasingly opting to leave the heating fuel in the ground rather than try to sell it into a spot market that plunged to new seven-year lows on Thursday.
  3. I find it amazing how people accept the cheap crap that is made today. People with manufacturing backgrounds can see the shortcuts in production. Garbage in Garbage out. Considering that these imports are made with some high end machinery, and do have top of the line designs, it is merely the ability to achieve easier manipulations in health and safety as well as consumer protection laws. Canada had those battles with manufacturers throughout their history here, and still do.There is a reason why Lead paint in childrens toys is a thing of the past, but now a reality of the present. There is a reason why we don't Spike Childrens food with chemicals to create a higher protein reading, even though it is the spiking that kills children. The developing world can provide a good product. Especially in China, Korea, and other asian countries. But the level of corruption, child labour, and the fact that in China 45,000 employees die every 3 months to provide cheap consumer goods is a price North Americans are not prepared to pay. We do have value attached to human life. This value of worker protection and consumer protection is NOT considered in trade agreements. I notice the shelf life of "White Products" is surprisingly short. I highly doubt I will get 50 to 75 years out of one of those cheap toilets, and fridges, stoves, washers and dryers seem to break with their cheap electronics and plastic dials. Dials that were made of steel for a reason, and while plastics can provide a durable gearing mechanism, it doesn't seem to be the goal of the manufacturer any longer. People that talk about "cheap" Ontario made goods are merely ill informed or believe false stereotypes. I was a foolish believer in such talk back in the late 80s and early 90s. Large Corporations wanted to locate to 3rd world countries and get away from health and safety, the environment, and consumer protection laws, as well as the North American labour costs. To do this, they needed to get governments to agree to lower tariffs. End game is a huge loss in technology in Canada. A huge loss in Jobs. Sir John A MacDonald is rolling in his grave. He will get re elected.
  4. I'll debate you and take my lumps in the Provincial forums, as I know you are strong on tax policy. However... In your opinion Are the Conservatives LYING?
  5. You mean..... The CPC LIE!!! ... yes the CPC want the HST to go through. It reminds me of the LPC saying they would get rid of the GST and gave us the HST. Bravo.
  6. The public uproar over harmonization in Nova Scotia contributed to the Liberal government's defeat in 1999. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...me=&no_ads= As Canada's rookie premier, Nova Scotia's Darrell Dexter is reluctant to give advice to his counterparts in other provinces. But he has one suggestion for premiers who are contemplating harmonizing their sales taxes with the federal GST, or who have already done so. "I think it's really important that citizens of provinces have a clear indication of just what that tax is going to look like, what goods and services are going to be affected," Dexter said in an interview. "I don't think there's anything that inspires people to go to their local Tim Hortons and talk like a tax increase." Dexter should know. Although he was elected as an opposition legislature member one year after Nova Scotia harmonized its sales tax in 1997, he has seen the HST stir up voter anger in provincial politics for more than a decade.
  7. The are behaving like Harper... Surprise Surprise. IIRC you were not against the 08 election last Sept.
  8. And No Platform, along with a record of voting against EI reform.
  9. And the economic growth.....
  10. Getting the BQ to settle down and not attempt to bring down a government for 18 months is smart politics. The LPC and NDP agreed to a set of policies to move forward on without the threat of the BQ everyday wanting to take down the government. The LPC and NDP were smart to lay out a 2 year plan and get the BQ off their backs for 18 months. Since January we have had two parties farting over when they are going to have an election, each one passing gas when their side goes up a point. The CPC and LPC would have given the Public a break from the constant whining of election, and the parties could have achieved something concrete. Instead we have the constant threat of election based on posturing and not upon achievement. Their is no more shame upon the NDP/LPC then their could be towards the CPC who had been longtime bedmates with the BQ. Regardless, the fact that a former PQ member would choose the LPC who did very very very very poorly in this riding in both 06 and 08 and not much better then the NDP who made decent gains, the fact is both these parties are far behind the BQ who might not even be considered withing striking distance of the CPC seat, even though they held the riding back in 04. This is probably much ado about nothing. In the meantime, I am certain that the Conservatives would love to have the Separatist back in the fold again. Shades of Bouchard and Mulroney....
  11. 1st you'd have to get Jack to be a Marxist....2nd... um, PM.... he doesn't have Marxists Ideals and that hasn't changed the fact he didn't win enough seats to become PM. Any Marxists goes red with the mention of the NDP as either a left wing party or a bunch of Marxists. Marxists don't get elected anywhere as IIRC getting less then 100 votes in a riding doesn't go a long way.
  12. A little dash of Loki.... Just in case you missed anything Just like playing Beethovens 5th in Clockwork Orange ....
  13. When you can take the pebble from my hand.... it will be time for you to leave.... GrassHopper ... erm Moonbox...
  14. Sure they are.....I believe the only Province to run a balanced budget during this recession IIRC??? Economic conditions deteriorated over the past few months in other provinces, especially in Ontario and Saskatchewan," she said. "All provinces will recover slowly over the next year. Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario are expected to post the strongest growth in 2010." (LEFT WING) Manitoba's 0.8% growth rate this year was the result of a construction boom that began four years ago, the report added. In 2010, growth will reach 1.8%. (Right Wing} Saskatchewan's economy is expected to contract by 2.7% in 2009 Manitoba -- what recession? Updated: Mon Mar. 23 2009 15:44:09 The Canadian Press One might forgive Manitobans if they seem slightly smug these days.
  15. Liberal Leadership Convention 2009 No Leadership Race No Policies ? Or , if you could enlighten me to the Liberal Resolution on EI Reform. The Very Issue Mr Ignatieff is faking the country with,.
  16. If you are born here, you are born here and are a Canadian Citizen. No country has the legal right to have Canada force its citizens upon them simply for the sake that some Canadians no longer wish to accept that Canadian as a citizen. Years ago, I stated that if the US wants to deport him back to Canada, then he is our problem to deal with. Fact is, what has happened to this person, the influence of his father, the Chretian screwup, the lack of followup on this family and their activities and the fact that Canada turns its back upon child soldiers, and for all intensive purposes he is... to languish in a jail for years without trial is disgraceful, not matter wtf you might think or feel. There is no doubt in my mind, that enough time has passed that this now young man is going to be returned to Canada and the damaged has been compounded exponentially and we are going to have a difficult time in knowing what to do with a person, who may not be able to be convicted of a crime in any country, including Canada......then what does Canada do when he comes back. Of course many clowns will put in smart ass answers here, or radical feelings. None of which changes what is going to happen in the near future. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omar_Khadr
  17. Economically and budget wise the NDP would be hardpressed to do anything differently. However the Conservatives choices and the NDP choices are very different when it comes to who suffers during a downturn and who benefits. The Conservatives or Sask Party will take care of their corporate supporters giving them what they need. And Corporations don't need Childrens Hospitals.

  20. There is nothing illegal against setting up a totally private clinic. Just don't ask for government funds or OHIP to pay for your personal privellidge. If you are Rich, you can pay for anything you want. Get over it and stop your whining. You sound like someone in the Emerge complaining that they have been waiting for 5 hours to have a sliver removed. I have just watched to of my closests friends get struck down with Cancer at a very young age and they are getting execellent treatment and there hasn't been any wait. I got no use for the public to fund private profit health care enterprises.
