THeir are Liberal Senators on the record said it was better to abolish the Senate then to change it. But alot of PC Senators don't want to lose their honey pots either. So What happened to the CPC supporting Abolishing the Senate? That's a substantial majority of MPs for abolishing the Senate. And it indicates that any kind of Senate Reform, is going to be opposed because the Province of Quebec will view it as anti Quebec. Senate Reform and Constitutional rangling is going to be BRUTAL. People don't want to be bother with more Charlottetowns and Meeches and that is exactly the path the Senate Reform will take us. Fair enough However, if you had a referendum with a simple question of Abolishing the Senate, it would pass with flying colours as people would love to kick some people out of their cushy positions and save the country a small sum of money. The whole concept of Senate Reform is a non starter. Its a dead parrot.

So, if this Doer is of the calibre that some here suggest, and there is Federal potential, perhaps he needs to use this time to learn our other official language. Then who knows what happens.

There is a Charter Challenge. That is all. And it could fail a Charter Challenge (hopefully unlikely). However That is the purpose of the Charter and no doubt the judges would suggest to the government to create a law to protect citizens abroad. A law which encompasses these safeguards. That's smart thinking. There could be other ways for certain, but there is nothing inherently wrong with the proposal. Sounds like Liberal double talk and excuses not to protect the citizens of Canada. If you are suggesting that all Canadians have to use a charter challenge to ensure their safety abroad, then there is a problem with the function of government. This bill directs specific government action. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Clearly the parties failed in their duties to act on behalf of Canadians. Get ready for the invoice.

It's a great case to abolish the Senate. Close the doors on this burden to the taxpayer and country club for party elites.

One of the things missing from normal pre election buzz for a fall election is.... THE PRE ELECTION BUZZ. Where are all the usual suspects... On holidays? Where are the Partisan CPC posters who appear in droves just before a potential fall of government. Where are the extra LPC supporters that show up testing the waters for an election call. This is one of the few elements missing that usually occurs when an election is on the horizon. As of recent, just a few of the regular posters have been holding the fort, around here. I'd hate to have to say something radical to get things going... but even then, there needs to be an audience. While I can see the LPC constantly calling for an election and continuing in their support of the government, the LPC have managed to fundraise and put Candidates in place ready for a snap election. Just is anyone else ready? Supporters, volunteers or the general public. If not, I hope more of the MLW regulars get back from their holidays... Lets have some fun. Election Date November 9th...
