You are insinuating very very broad rationalizations. You insinuated that a left winger is more compassionate than a right winger and have provided NO PROOF to back up this claim and in fact I would say the exact opposite. Here is one that doesn't fit in with your 'theories' that you like to insinuate yet don't have the courage to stand behind. Woman tend to be more left wing then men. Women also tend to be harsher law and order types. (lock them up and throw away the key). So what would your bigotry deduce here Coot? Woman are more or less compassionate than men? It is a well known fact that conservatives give more money to charities than liberals do. In fact, the only thing liberals are more generous with is other people's money. Your smug assertions and broad, sweeping inelp generalizations tells me you have a weak grasp of even what a liberal or Liberal or conservative or Conservative is. You should really do more research unless you would like to continue to make yourself look like a bigot. I can say that the vast vast majority of left wing and right wing people want the same result. They just differ on the methods to get there. ie: a handup instead of a handout being one of the many subtle differences in philosophy. I am probably conservative now ( I was NDP when I was young, as you are probably now) and I firmly believe that homosexuality is 90% nature. We need to encourage our natural birthrate to be at least over 2.1 preferably 2.2 or 2.3 and correspondeningly lower our high level of immigration. Immigration is not a bad thing in and of itself, it is the level of immigration that is the problem I think. Kind of like water.

Uhh.. You misrepresented the poll, of course. It says liberals are JUST as different. In fact, it was contrasting liberals and conservatives in the US. They are different from each other in tastes. Not a very suprising finding in my opinion. BTW, the term liberal and conservative in the states have much different connotations than the same words in Canada. ie: they are not political parties. But you knew that didn't you.? Also, it does not even attempt to say why they are different wether through nature or nuture, it's not even part of the study. If you need to misrepresent things so badly then you should really look inside yourself and see if your personal philosophy is based on lies or reality.

Actually, no. That's YOUR logic. you are simply being inconsistent with it. You demand absolutes on one group and 'high probabilities' from another. That is inconsistent. So you have more confidence in a Psychiatric's assesment than the Canadian Justice system. Look, if you're against the death penalty because an innocent might get executed, that's fine. I understand that. But if you come back and ALSO say that you are ok with a convicted killer getting released to the public because there is very little chance that the killer will kill again - that's what I have the problem with. These people are convicted killers. They serve their 10 years for murder and because some 27 year old with pimples and a degree waves a wand and says that they are 'rehabilitated' and voila - you are ok with them going out into society... YET you oppose the death penalty STRICTLY because there is a chance that the Canadian Justice system might execute an innocent person?? I have seen alot on these boards, but never the level of low-brow hypocricy such as this.

You tell me where I am getting this wrong. 1) You are against the dealth penalty because there is a chance that an innocent person could be wrongly executed. Am I representing this correctly? 2) You are ok with convicted killers getting out early from their sentences EVEN IF there is a small chance that they may kill again. (you said one per cent once then said 99.9% chance that they don't). whatever, moot point. What anyone can gleam from this is that you are more comfortable with a convicted killer killing an innocent than the Canadian Justice system killing an innocent. ie: You have more faith in 'reformed' murderers than the Canadian Justice system. You either are making up your views as you go or you have put little to no thought into them. You pick.

I am not saying one way or the other, I am simply pointing out that you seem ok with former murderers killing again more than you are with the government killing murderers. Where ever one stands on this issue, you got to admit that it pretty twisted thinking.

But it's not true. Toronto (metro) is more than an hour from the border and it makes up greater than 10% of Canada's population. Calgary is 3 hours from the Border... etc etc..
