  1. I think someone read a book from Oprah's picks and really really likes it.
  2. If you don't like the law, don't put yourself in a position to be subject to it. ie: Don't go to the US. pretty simple.
  3. Jewish is also an ethnicity for those that aren't aware...
  4. yes, of course. Workers have the right to organize and a business has the right to make business decisions. They shut the store. Neither the state or the union should be able to tell a company that they aren't allowed to close up shop. if the supreme court rules that way we are going to become a laughing stock. (even more than we are now with the HRC and 'free speech' issues we are having)
  5. Sorry, was meaning the p-38. Double tail escort fighter and light bomber. Cool looking plane
  6. Actually, they don't have a right to do this in Canada as they are not citizens. Border services have been told not to allow them entry. good move.
  7. Exactly and it became public. everyone knows about it and the liberals were punished as they should have been.
  8. profound statement of the year award!
  9. If I want to feel better? I feel fine with how it is... Stephen Harper represents the government of Canada. That's just the way it is. The fact is, the government is voted in by the people, but his role is to represent the government of Canada. The GG or Queen represents the state and people of this country. Them's the facts.
  10. Not seeing the satire in that... maybe it's just me..
  11. 9/11 conspiracy theories of every version are not plausible or realistic in anyways. The sheer size required for the conspiracy to proceed is large enough to dismiss out of hand. Clingly stubbornly to it requires intellectual leaps of faith that shows no real interest in the truth, just a flailing for some facts, anything that will fit a pre-conceived TRVTH about what happened. Alot of psychologists chalk this up to a coping mechanism and say that for some, it is difficult to believe that people can be so inhumane to each other. They can. And to add to it and insist that the anthrax scare that followed soon after 9/11 was also a conspiracy is just more of the same silliness. The last conspiracy that was discovered that I can remember is the ADSCAM scandal here in Canada. Do you think the CIA also killed JFK? Do you the the illuminati/skull and bones/knights templars/jews secretly control the world?
  12. So basically you distrust government so therefore everything they do is a conspiracy? And you have not a shread of proof to support any of your conspiracy's that isn't easily explained with a much more plausible solution. Seems intellectually lazy to me. But whatever floats your boat.
  13. haha the canvas saved the mosquito from crashing alot, but yes no armour for the guy flying it for sure. and a wooden frame to boot on alot of it.
  14. And who can forget the sopwith camel and the dehavilland mosquito?
  15. Right wing paranoia? Who was the leader of Canada at this time? You are projecting again. It's a defence mechanism.
  16. She wasn't, they were monitoring to see if the communists infiltated the group that Rita was in. That is what a prudent defender of national security shoudl ahve done at the time.
  17. Necessity is the mother of invention as they say. Curiously, most inventions and breakthroughs looking back in time do not come from 'scientists' at all. Perhaps that is why you are having a hard time 'seeing it'.
  18. yeah, what was it with the Americans having under gunned aircraft? It seems like they almost swore off cannon in WW2 with some rare exceptions.
  19. And so will the question of what is the meaning of life, consensus is not needed to know that we are, in fact, alive. Try this: link: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Democracy ducks in a row? Palestine is not even a country and they sure don't have their 'ducks in a row' and even they have a seat at the UN. What country does not have their 'ducks in a row' for Un membership? Distaste of policy is not proof that there is no democracy. It is proof merely that your opinion/philosophy is not shared by the majority. ? The UN is most certainly not democratic. The membership of the majority of it's members are not elected by their populace. You can be a brutal dictator that killed to be in power with the same voice as our elected PM from Canada. What 'stance' of mine is this 'blowing'? Of course China is not democratic? Are you having trouble following along?
  20. That's rich. A person who does not support the war in Afghanistan telling a soldier that has done two tours of duty there to put his money where his mouth is? That is so disrespectful no matter how you view Afghanistan. you should apologize eyeball to retain what little credibility you have left on these forums. Despicable.
  21. au contraire, I know exactly what democracy is. If you have issues about what it means, says so and someone will be happy to clarify for you. They did, see US election November 2004. Also, see Canadian election in 2006 and 2004 (? I think) point is, we have voted on it. Same with the UK. All countries can and do sit at the 'UN table' if they so wish. I do agree that the UN is undemocratic which I suspect, is the very reason that the US is not willing to be a party to it's creation, the ICC. With what you said here, it is odd that you blame them for this. When you have the Arab block almost exclusively using their UN time to try and censor Israel to the exclusion of all others (notably themselves) it makes a mockery of the UN (see Durban conference on racism). The US using their veto to block these inane resolutions is not the problem - it is the fact that they are made in the first place. If the UN wanted to claim to be democratic then they would first have to demand the same from their members, which they do not.
  22. My contention was with how I appeared I was against Dion's greenshift when I had not said where I stood. Then I explain exactly where I do stand on it. carry on.
