I agree. I have alwyas thought it odd that the drinking age was 21. You can drive a car, vote, and go to war, but not drink? A leftover from the prohibition age I'd say. The problem here is not to raise the age of recruitment to 21, it is to lower the drinking age to 18.

All in all I am quite happy with the CPC. Harper is a strong leader and shows that he will stick up for what he believes to be right despite what the polls may say and I respect that. The better question to ask is: Does Canada's reflex anti-Americanism keep the CPC's polling numbers artifically low? ie: There would be more CPC voters simply if Anti-Americanism wasn't a defining Canadian trait to 30-40% of the population. I think anti-Americanism in Canada is on the decline. When we grow up as a nation we will learn to define ourselves on our own terms and not define ourselves on what the Americans are not. This would not only help the CPC's, this would help the liberals too and most certainly be the death of the NDP. That, in my opinion will help lessen partisan politics to a degree and really move our country forward. I hope I live to see it.

Not a relevant example. One is the goods and services tax (GST) and one is where the provincial sales tax (PST) is combined with the GST. That becomes the Harmonized sales tax. Why you ask? Because they are charged as one tax. What difference does that make you ask? Well, we with the HST no longer have to pay a tax on a tax as those provinces that do not have it - hence making the tax hit less and easier on business to calculate. They are harmonzed. two taxes acting as one tax. Keep looking.

He/she was not asking questions, he said that the American government conspired to poison Americans to up the terror so as to make sure support was high enough for the Iraq war. Obviously the Americans have more concerns about their security than wether you come back for another visit. When you go to another country you are subject to their rules. Seems rather silly to complain about them, especially in the context as guilty until proven innocent which applies to people IN the USA or Canada for that matter, not the one's who are stopped at the border before they get there. As a Canadian when you drive over and then come back, CANADIAN border agents are allowed to take your car apart piece by piece and have no duty to put it back together. Your energy would best be focused there.

Foreign tourists coming to Canada are waayyyy down and Winnipeg is named Canada's sexiest city... you do the math.
