  1. Good, and that our parliamentarians have done what they were elected to do. Now stop your childish whining.
  2. Have you heard the radio interview with this Vietnamese restaurant owner in Toronto? The interview started as a review of his restaurant and it went on about the owner being a refugee from Cambodia's Khmer Rouge concentration camps. At one point the owner actually saw and met one of his captors, chatted and reconciled with forgivenness. He said, you can't continue with your life if you carry the grudge with you. This is only one example that makes Canada a great country.
  3. Actually it was under Mike Harris (PC). Remember the Common Sense Revolution and John Snobelen's "Create a crisis" remark? And then there's that crazy funding formula.
  4. There's another - if Ignatieff talks with Layton and Duceppe and come to an agreement.
  5. According to Harper's own fixed term election law, 2009 is scheduled for an election anyways.
  6. I believe we are still ranked amongst the top five. Paraphrasing Winston Churchill: Canada isn't a perfect country but it's the best one there is. And if we don't take action on global warming, there'll be nothing to comare.
  7. Judging from the responses in this forum and from those regarding the compensation to Milgaard, Marshall, Stephen Truscott and anybody else wrongfully treated this kind of thing is going to happen a lot more. Some people comment as if Maher Arar was one lucky dude who won the lottery.
  8. And you've avoided acknowledgment of Canada's parliamentary system of democracy. There's tons of other legislation passed by governments that various other people around the country throughout our history don't like. Enough of your childish whining - it's the country the voters had selected.
  9. That's why he'll win. From the Aug 28th Toronto Star: It's the idiot factor. When given a choice to lead a country, voters choose the dumbest of the bunch.
  10. Some of them actually did trivialize David Milgaard and Donald Marshall's wrongful imprisonment too. That's what they do.
  11. You're accusing her of fabricating this story?
  12. Thanks, Tango. Plus the fact that Canada is one of the few places in the world where all these various groups of people actually live amongst each other without the conflicts as compared to other countries - well not until nipper-tipping came along. Ha Ha It's clear you don't understand the parliamentary system of democracy. We don't hold a referendum on every bill.
  13. By the citizens and voters of Canada through the governments we elect and confirmed by re-election. Collectively we make our choices and collectively we accept our responsibilities.
  14. The difference between then and now is that wiser people aren't blaming Harper but they were blaming Trudeau.
  15. I don't want to jump to conclusions about Bryant either. Currently, the truth is between Sheppard and Bryant but obviously Sheppard can't tell his version of the story. We don't know how his visit with his girlfriend or his meeting with the police translated to any kind of reaction at the collision with Bryant afterward. Also we don't know our own capabilities in times of crisis.
  16. Just heard on the radio Al Sheppard's girlfriend's description of their meeting. It's sad, because it sounded like any other relationship that was going through some reconciliation.
  17. It was our choice. Multiculturalism is one reason why Canada has been consistently listed in the top five best countries in which to live (beaten by Sweden, Finland, etc).
  18. That's also how Canada became populated with British. The Loyalists feared for their lives if they stayed in the United States - hardly a Marxist country in 1778.
  19. Some people are too quick to judge without knowing all the details.
  20. You ought to know, being a descendant of people who did the same thing.
  21. I agree. Everybody here has already made his assumptions and judgments. I wonder how many has ever ridden a bicycle in traffic and received the door prize or collided with a car pulling out of its parking space. If the latter, the cyclist may have grabbed the car to keep his balance instead of getting knocked down. Oh, sure, you're going to criticize this explanation, but my guess is as good as anybody else's who some have already guessed the cyclist was a mad man. The end of Miller? That's jumping to conclusions. I think this would empower his efforts to establish serious bicycle lanes in Toronto, unless Councillor Denzil Minnan-Whiner cooks up another wedge issue. It's a war on bicycles. We have our first death in this war and Denzil doesn't even know how to ride a bike!!!
  22. Discussion isn't going your way? Whine, whine, whine.
  23. Although I agree with the rest of your post, this first sentence isn't the defining factor of a recession. Recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of economic decline. That's measured in GDP or GNP - profit is not a factor, it's sales. And yes, it's possible to have increased sales but still turn up a loss. So in order for the recession to be officially over, June to November must report (on average) GNP growth. The employment rate is not in the equation either.
  24. Why don't you make up your mind and then stop whining about it?
