CPC Jeopardized Canadian Security At Home
Cameron replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Soooo you don't actually know...you just "think" it's the problem. Glad to see Senators going out of their way to find answers.... Second, the NDP is a bunch of hacks. They speak up about military spending down here, then complain when there is a shortfall....good work. -

Catchme - I don't mean to sound evasive. But when posting stories like this, could you attempt to triangulate your sources. When you post an article from antiwar.com (albeit it may be correct) a site like this has bias attached to it (It would be the same if you got an article from prowar.com). It would help to make these problems 100% or as close to it as possible accurate and eliminate biased reporting. I hope you see where I'm coming from. -
U.S. forces attack civilians at random in revenge

You saw this in Vietnam. The soldiers got jumpy and had spells of rage towards non-comabatants. The movie (albeit it is a movie) showed us the affects of PTSD on soldiers in combat. They burned villages and killed civilians if they thought they were helping the VC, with little or no proof that they actually were. Only time will tell if this has a lasting affect on US Soldiers. I would also like to see some stats from other countries and the affect that the war is having on their soldiers. Also, in Canada our troops have a rotation requirement. They need a certain period of time off once they have completed two tours. I'm not 100% on the exact wording. -
Duceppe threatens to topple Harper government
Cameron replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Very good post JP. I must admit that being part of a family with a member (my younger brother) going over in February, I tend to seek out information on a grand scale to feed my desire to find out what is happening. If it is from troop reports, to posts on other message boards, I try and get the story from the horses mouth, so to speak. I do find that the people I talk to about the mission are ill-informed on it. They have a knee-jerk reaction when you ask them about pulling out. They are all yes's. But when I pose more questions about reconstruction and who will provide the security and HOW that security should be administered, I tend to have blank stares. You can either have a proactive approach to the Taliban and terrorists or a reactive one. Are you going to go after the Taliban and put pressure on them in a forceful manner and then begin rebuilding. Or are you going to concentrate more on rebuilding and react to attacks on the troops, similar to what we saw in Rwanda where the troops were instructed to only react to the aggressors if they were fired upon. I can see it being very difficult to go the path of Jack Layton and company because of the inherent fact that if we aren't putting pressure on the Taliban then they will regroup in areas where the pressure has been released and set up shop and make it difficult to continue the reconstruction. Taking one step forward and one step back to put it in perspective. -

Rae calls for Harper's defeat over spending move
Cameron replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/is...b6-1048d4d0cd8c Thanks for the linky Dobbin, but it's weak. I was looking more for past numbers vs. now. And, the article has some errors. From the article Not so, National Posty: From the policy manual at the CPC site. -

Rae calls for Harper's defeat over spending move
Cameron replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Harper is spending like a drunken sailor right now. Perhaps he should show some restraint today rather than make a promise that will take a few years to implement. Got some numbers to back that up, Jdobbin? -
An interesting blog. Some snipits [...] Linky Some interesting thoughts and situations. It is nice to know that we can live in a country and society that allows us to criticize and debate on forums like this without the fear of being prosecuted, or even killed.

Liberal Party of Canada Policy Resolution:
Cameron replied to Cameron's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I know Gerry...it is...and why would those g-damn Liberals print it....wow, blows my mind. PS- I was hoping for a better response from you Gerry....this one just seems like bull-horn politics. -
Linky "I know we're supposed to comment on topics, but I'm almost speachless." First the NDP and calling our troops terrorists, now the Liberals and this....common guys...This is just sick and degrading. Does anyone edit these resolutions before they are published? And who the hell thinks up this suff?

From the article: Good point. I fear that Harper is trying to be everybody to everyone. If I were in charge, I'd just tell Quebec that if they want to separate from Canada, Canada will separate from them. No more money, military protection, etc. In my hypothetical world, I would like to just cut them off, let them bleed for a couple of years and then welcome them back with a new treaty. And laugh all the way to the bank. Quebec is a pain in the ass. And, on top of that, their home country, France, is a joke right now.

Liberals seek probe of Tory fundraising

So, Gerry, do you REALLY want to see the Liberals back in power. This bunch has been around for awhile, and I think if you let them have the keys to the car, they would get right back on the bottle. -
