This is now about the Harper gang claiming that there was never any evidence of torture or any allegations of torture when in fact there was. The boo boo I refer to is lying about it when the Harper troops and Hillier got caught in the headlights and then felt compelled to obfuscate and even out and out lie about it. Hillier reminds me of Shultz on Hogans Heros. I see nothing! I hear nothing! I know nothing! Not good.

Perhaps you believe that the Liberals are running the government now. They arent. The Harpers are. This also isnt about our once respected Prime Minister Mulroney who distinguished himself by demonstrating that he was rather capable of being just as corrupt as Chretien was. What I dont understand is that when we see something so intuitively obvious to the casual observer such as Peter MacKay lying to Parliament ...it is seen by some as something to admire or perhaps ignore. I dont give a damn what political stripe you wear but when you hold a pile of crap under your nose try not to convince others that it smells like a Cadbury chocolate bar. Our leaders need to have their feet held to the fire at all times. Even if its a leader within the party of your political preference.

I grew up as a youth in post WWII Canada and also observed as you did the Cold War. The Soviets are still there with their alien system of government...come to think of it... so are the Chinese...However, we (ie the West) all have nukes that we all can deliver so we are inclined to not get into the revolution exportation business with them. On the other hand, over the past decade we have seen serious attempts at exporting revolution by death and destruction by the West to Iraq and Afghanistan and perhaps Iran in the next wave. Whats up with that?

Well I am indeed honestly impressed with you and your fellow soldiers bravery over there as well as your insight and in depth knowledge of the current situation on the ground. I also acknowledge that the coalition forces are now in control of vast areas of Afghanistan. However, our forces dont control the Taliban or Sunnis or Shia. They never will. Thats an opinion based on hundreds of years of history staring us in the face and of a view from a civilian coming from that part of the world. Only time and many more deaths along with a very very very large bucket of our money will tell.

The violence continues even after the so called war is over. It will in Afghanistan too. The invasion alone carried a huge cost in lives and wanton destruction.

I have no opinion about AI and I have no interest. I havent bothered to participated in the lengthy debate you guys are having. I offer no opinion about them and dont intend to. I've made it explicitly clear to you several times in this forum regarding my views of Khadr's guilt or innocence. I will await the result of a trial and go along with the verdict. You should too! Some of the evidence against Khadr has been reported in the news. I have even seen stories that suggests that there is conflicting testimony from US personnel who were there. The story is rather simple. Canadian authorities totally screwed things up which seems to be a nasty habit of theirs. The SCOC ruled against these jerks. In the US, the USSC has essentially ruled that the detaines in Gitmo (including Khadr) shall have a trial. Lets all wait and see how this all turns out. If he is found not guilty, it will certainly become a very very interesting legal situation given what Canadian authorities have already done to him.

Perhaps they should help fund his legal fees.

Clearly the standard you have set for the Ministers of our government is to accept them calling one of their good employees a "mean name" in a public forum .... so be it. Perhaps you might wish to read how government thugs are treating witnesses who come forth. STORY #1 STORY #2
