Rumsfeld departure a sad loss
Chrissy1979 replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Where are there people marching in support of the Taliban in Canada? And YOU stood up to them? In person or from your anonymous postings online? But you're a chickenhawk who supports soldiers getting blown up so that Bush and Cheney can try and save face in a doomed war. What would you know about actually fighting? -
You mean they're not the same person?

Why are the Conservatives Killing the Wheat Board?

The only problem is that, under NAFTA, there's no turning back the clock. Once it's gone, it's gone. -
I put my year of birth right in my screen name, but I have a feeling no one cares.

I had a 21-year-old boyfriend when I was 15. There was no coercion involved and he was really sweet.

"Tories Plan To Protect Same-Sex Opponents"
Chrissy1979 replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hicksey, you seem terribly confused. If you’re going to bring up a position to justify your own position (i.e., BM’s crack whore comment), you kind of have to agree with it yourself. Otherwise you’re compromising your own argument. And BTW, WTF does a crack whore taking responsibility for her own actions have to do with anything? You’re using fill-in-the-blank responses that don’t even fit the context of the debate. -
Most rapid transit systems are just glorified street cars or bus lanes. The problem with them is you can't put them in the middle of a populated neighbourhood without sacrificing its safety and character and/or their speed. I agree that subways, though expensive, are the only answer if you want a densely populated, human-oriented city. Downtowns with street level parking lots are like bombed-out wastelands with nowhere to go. Making more livable, walkable cities would do a lot to making Canadians less like fat cats.

I think geoffrey is just mistakenly associating weed with alcohol when he assumes that its a burden on society. There are, like, no homeless people whose drug of choice is weed. It's all either alcohol or meth or crack or whatever. You'd be laughed off the street if you claimed you were homeless because of an addiction to pot.

Republican Congressman Foley a pedophile

Victory In Iraq?-- Out of the Question
Chrissy1979 replied to M.Dancer's topic in The Rest of the World
You're making even less sense than usual. -
Uh, maybe because he's the Senate Majority Leader? You're supposed to do some book-learning before you take those jobs. I don't think it has anything to do with November, because Afghanistan is still a relatively popular undertaking. Now, if he said it was inevitable that Iraq would degenerate into civil war and that the U.S. occupation is doing more harm than good, then I would say he's trying to take a reasonable stance while November looms.

It wasn't that long ago I was in Jr High. I never did that stuff but my boyfriend did but you could just buy it between classes. If we wanted to drink I'd have to steal it from my dad. Seems to me the laws the way they are just makes it easier for dealers to get in the door, get customers and then maybe sell them something that actaully hurts them like crystal meth.

CBC Viciously Attacks Bush
Chrissy1979 replied to geoffrey's topic in Canada / United States Relations
But geoffrey, why do you need the example of a documentary you disagree with to justify eliminating the CBC? Every opinion piece is propaganda, so that loaded word proves nothing other than you like to abuse semantics to make an argument. Your argument to rid Canada of a public broadcaster is diminished when you make your position based on one situation where you couldn't handle listening to an opinion different from your own. -
Immigration and Language laws.

So your ancestors were non-English speaking immigrants? Maybe you're right that they shouldn't have been let in if they left us with the likes of you. -
Safe injection sites...
Chrissy1979 replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You're operating on the bogus assumption that legalization would mean more consumption. What if it meant less? Consumption went down when alcohol prohibition ended. Why isn't solvent abuse rampant when it's available at every convenience store? People barely knew what marijuana was when it was still legal. People who are happy with the status quo are either profiting off the sale of drugs or just enjoy criminalizing people to satisfy their own (immoral) sense of moral superiority. To hide this, they come up with ridiculous arguments like yours. -
How to combat non voters...
Chrissy1979 replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Jack Layton is definitely the hottest leader. Even better than all the liberal leadership candidates. CPC should definately go with Peter Mackay tho. I's vote for that. -
I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. In the meantime, the fetus depends on the mother's body, so only the mother should decide whether it stays or gos.
