  1. So what would be a starting point then? If, as you say, they are incapable, then they are standing in the way of progress in the form that they are. Maybe strengthening the PA ?
  2. Or anythng else . What's wrong with Micky D's anyhow? You don't like kids that know how to work and serve a customer? People find a job no matter what, it seems to me that the Libs are the ones stopping an oil boom in Alaska. Ever figure out how many jobs that would make? I suppose you liie Arabs to have those ones.
  3. Well, shut this forum down. We agree. I guess America is great, Canada is great and the rest of the world can bask in our mutual sunshine. God bless Canada and the USA!
  4. Black Dog, you know that I also believe that Terrorism cannot be vanguished by military force. We discussed that before. In detail, Alas, Saddam did everything to make the invasion legal. However, Bush messed it all up propagandaising the sell. Need I repost the paras in the resolutions pertaining to the ceasefire? the ones that state that Iraq is not permitted to have 'any WMD or related material, facilities or ap[paratuses, including 'dual purpose equipment'? Or that Blix found chemical agents in labs, unaccounted for stuff in the tonnage amount even after iraq had declard nothing was going on? That pages were renumbered from WMD documents and missiles with lesser ranges were built for no purpose other then to recieve engines capable of housing the larger engines to exceed the range of the UN prohibitions? It goes on and on.
  5. I should be interested in knowing if the Bombings had an effect at all. I mean, some were against the Socialists but after the bombings might have been for. As well, those for may have chosen to then take the war to the Terrorists while staying Socialist. in any case, the decision was democratic, I approve with accolades. It is the terrorists who reap the victory however, not the Socialists. They think they won, but did they, or did the terrorists?
  6. If Saddam paid real well, would you have ever considered becomming an Iraqi citizen?
  7. Hi Black Dog, working too hard on a bit of stuff but wanted to let you know that you have a valid point. To put it into perspective though, most people don't give a hoot. Many are your supporters true enough, but many are also people like me who honk simply because somebody believes stongly enough about something to give up time. If you are a good looking girl I let go with the air horn even if you have a sign saying you hate truck Owner Operators for crying out loud! That is meaningless. people on site is what counts, most were in the malls. The people you talk with? I can take you to places where everybody thinks you are an idiot and you can take me to the same. Polls? Meaningful. The figures were actually 48% for so what does that tell you? The five or whatever undecided carry the day, give 'em a two hundred dollar cheque in the form of a government subsidy and guess what? We go to war.
  8. One of the key methods of defeating terrorism is to remove the support of the people from their cause. the middle east is a good base for terrorists as it has many unhappy people. The reasons for this are poverty, political enslavement, lack of freedom and a ferverent beleif in a religion that has little or no room to work with the realities of the modern world. By modern world, I mean, increased population and the obvious needs that they have. Using the same teqniques as a thousand years ago will not feed, house or clothe these ever increasing numbers at present much less a decade from now using a restrictive system. Hence, a lot of disatisfaction. A mood that is played for all it is worth by terrorists in order to gain power. Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism proper. With a little to be missed dictator in charge, a legal reason to invade, a moral reason to be played up, natural resources enough to rebuild it with style, it was a perfect place to invade and install a government that would work for the people, one that was elected by the people with modern needs in mind. Something that would break the cycle of Middle Eastern political stagnation. Providing the opportunity to give people a reason to live, prosperity and exportable sucess and hope for a future where they and their families would not be slaves to anything other than their own self determination. You have to admit, in the Middle East, there is not much freedom, and people have a natural desire to be free. Even Chomsky related humans to wild animals, who, when in cages will injure themselves severely trying to gain it. Is it any wonder then why terrorists find willing recruits in the Middle East? If America did not exist, or Israel, it would be something else or someone. The purpose of action in Iraq is to provide a base where people are living for their own reasons, and export their new lives to their nighbors via economic and cultural trade. It won't be immediate, it may take decades but it is a start. terrorists know this, if Iraq succeeds then they will likely begin a process of being irrelevent. That is why they go there in droves, attacking Iraqis themselves, religious leaders, UN workers and people who are trying to help the Iraqis themselves. For them, Iraq cannot succeed, that is their biggest threat at this moment, not the US occupation. Let me tell you how Hitler wins. Everbody goes to war to stop him from taking over the world and we have soldiers killed. Terrorists win by being the most viable choice for the population to follow. They won't win in Spain or anywhere else on earth by having the people oppose them. They win by having control over other's actions such as the reaction to their bombings in Spain. That's why they are called TERRORISTS..
  9. Kill millions like Russia, China, North Korea, Iraq, Iran. Supress human rights like Saudi Arabia, China, a host of third world countriues or simply hold their population in terror as do a third of the world's nations. If you will note, the 'hedgmony' that the US strives for is a corporate one. Wherever they go, they make money for the west, and those of the country that they invest in. Where there was nothing, there is now a factory paying low wages. Better than starvation isn't it? When any other idealology takes over, it is with far greater brutal force and gives nothing. Nothing. Leaves nothng in return for the strife they bring and no Cola Factories, no payment, just complete turmoil. How many bad things? Incalcuable. The US has a long way to go to match the list of offenders that have come before. You think the Islamo Fasists will bring prosperity and any kind of freedom to anybody? Destruction, death, enslavement to all that they rule. The fall of the Saudi Family will provide a basis for a country wide pandemic of starvation and terror to the people of SA. Is not the proping up of the Royals enough reason to stop that? Reading an article in the Ottawa Sun yesterday about how High Schools are getting uniforms for the kids. Only uniforms made with companies that do not use child labor. Lofty and good, however, I suppose now that there will be some places where they make this type of thing that now will have no money. Places that have no other way to feed the people. It's not right, but that was all they had. Instead of doing good, it did bad. Problems have to be attacked from many aspects, not just from the end where the effect is. A program to stop child labor via boycotting has to made with replacement of money involved. You want to shut a sweat shop down? Provide an alternative, otherwise your good becomes bad.
  10. BD, you have me pegged wrong. As far as I am concerned, thesee guys can vote in the Cat in The Hat or the Dali Lama for all I care, if they pull out their troops, it is appeasement. No matter if the majority, minority, or a unanamous vote does it, it's still appeasement.
  11. Am I? It is one thing to say what you think and another to take action to make it happen. My fellow Canadians supported the war by the millions by NOT taking any action against it. As I said before, I just am glad to see that the ones opposed to action are only able to muster ten thousand or so, whereas the thirty million or so who don't feel that it is wrong enough to do something about it are carrying on with their lives and letting it continue on it's course via the US.
  12. Yes, appeasement. Do what the terrorists want, give in to them, do not do anything to enrage them, do not resist them. Yes, the will of the people was to avoid confrontation. Ask that popular PM Chamberlain. As I said before, using the 'snide remark';
  13. OK, enemy is a bit strong, how about this; A contiual theme throughout his books, using givens that are riddled with arguable facts to mould his work to be anti US. I suppose that this would be propaganda with over attention to facts that support his premises and and ommision of others that do not support those as it's central theme. I do know that people want to come to the US in droves from the third world. Evidently, the US is not as bad as he portrays. Myself, if something was bad enough to have book after book written about it to tell people how bad it was, I certainly wouldn't want to be part of it. Same with the third world people who line up for blocks in front of US embasies around the world wanting to go there.
  14. Can the guy get a chance to hang his coat up? Give him a break here, I just learned about this interview, after reading about it I can't see anything amiss here.
  15. Yes. Now you have it! And sometimes, Evil can come from good. A passive good called 'appeasement.'
  16. Hi Mika, great turnout! Most of us enjoyed the day with our families, shopping, skiing, snomobiling and even getting drunk! You were less than 1/10 of 1% of the people. The rest of us showed our support for war by carrying on with our lives. Carry on. BTW, did you guys at least tip the vendors for your hot dogs?
  17. Great article! Thanks. One thing that Noam does a lot of is use 'givens.' I don't agree with most of his 'givens' so the dough he uses doesn't make for a great pizza. Know what I mean? In this argument, the given is that that the US (as usual) is the enemy, and that you and I are third world, dissatisfied potential terrorists who hate the west. Lacking any way out except the lure of retaliation, we want to join with those who have gone before, the honoured terrorists. Sorry, I live in Pembroke Ontario, have a good life and want to keep it. These guys can settle on my terms, the US's terms, or the UN's. When things go downhill, after all the aid, bombing, retaliation, nation rebuilding go downhill and they have the upper hand, then I'll clitorise my daughter and kneel before them, not before. As for viewing my protectors as terrorists, well, better start with yourself, you live here, pay a dime in taxes, you're one in a big way.
  18. I am not sure, just know that it works better than any other system. Ours is pretty close, we are better off than most others, I think they are on the right track anyhow. We just notice them more because there are more of them than us. They move, we react, we move, they don't even wonder what moved.
  19. A good drywall man will tell you that the secret of a sucessful project is the cullmination of detail. The better the small parts in total the better the whole. If each part is dependant on the total work to suceed on their own, then the total will be weak. If each is strong then the total will be better. Each part polished, sanded, replastered until all imperfections are removed, each part trying on their own ......to become the best they can be.
  20. Then we are in agreement. Many Israelis never want to make peace. Does this not mean that it is the leaders of Hamas and Israel that are to blame?
  21. I don't know. It is common knowlege. Maybe a bit of history might help you. Prior to the Russian Revolution there were no communist countries. Now, Viet Nam, North Korea, China, and many many more places on earth have been taken over with the former USSRs help. Their agenda was to 'bury the west.' Guess you missed that one. As for them attacking Canada, I doubt it. However, once they controlled the rest of the world, we would have probably joined up with them volutarilly as they would have controlled the world's economy leaving us with nothing. As for winning and losing, are you simply going to give up? Do you think that scince drugs are inevitable then pushers can simply move in beside you and start dealing? Or do you try to fight it? Try to take away the root casues for it such as lack of education, lack of community involvement, lack of public funding for social programmes? No need to bother, we won't win right?
  22. And if not for the US intervening around the globe, you would be carving those words onto on a frozen potato in some work camp in Sasketchewan, looking over your shoulder in fear of being seen doing it. There is no such thing as 'pure good,' you have to take a bit of bad with it. Secrets and sacrifices are not only a tool of the evil.
  23. Black Dog Hi BD, did you get the proof? Just wondering as I didn't hear back from you. If you can't get to the post key, just look at your own material, it's there, just trying to save you some trouble.
  24. d4dev,Mar 19 2004, Try reading a paper once in awhile. IRAQ ARTICLE HERE'S THE LINK As for all the stuff you wanted me to do, sorry Sergent Major, you are wrong. And any other target to instill fear, chaos and dispair. I suppose that all the Mosques they bombed had pro US markings on them? The people in the markets are wearing Stars and Stripes? Tell me, how do they know that they are killing people that are for or agains the US?
  25. LOL. Starting to like you.
