A Muslim inmate has won $2,000 for bacon insult
trex replied to ScottSA's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
but anti semitism persisted for another 5 centuries, worsening until it climaxed in "the final solution". this expression meant, an answer to the LONG standing question of what to do with the jewish diaspora. so even though they could read the bible, it didnt change their attitude toward jews, and as i posted elsewehere, maybe even reinforced it... there are parts that imply that the jews should be attacked. after all they were responsible for the death of our lord, no? what luther wrote against jews was as hateful as any nazi propaganda, and the inquisition, just as awful. and in fact, the common people of europe, right up to WW2 (and possibly beyond) shared a real hatred for the jew, most nations in europe willingly participated in helping the nazis, by arresting their jewish citizens and sending them away on the rail lines to auschwitz, treblinka and the many other camps spread out all over europe, not just around germany. and they were run by the locals there, those ones happy to be rid of their "problem". the reason some were happy to cooperate? better the nazis than the communists! because as heartless as the nazi ideology was, stalin was even worse! -

Michael Moore's 'Sicko' Scrutinizes Canada's Healthcar
trex replied to pfezziwig's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
i've worked in the health care system for 20 years and i can tell you, the system has had so many cuts that make utterly no sense. the closing of beds, the closing of entire wings. minimal effort is expended in combating "brain brain", much to the benefit of the elitist physicians organizations. thats why i say, take the surplus and fix what they have broken by the clawbacks. we are paying the higher taxes for a system that should work. the system is being attacked by big business interest groups who want to see it go private, for the massive bucks it has to offer. we can fix it, we have the financial resources but its not a priority to the federalist bed wetters -
heheh, Mr. Shav... a brood of vipers... a cesspool. someone needs to wipe its ass

i think trying to discuss anything with you is silly, actually. its not possible to take you seriously, with your snide undercutting, jeering remarks. if you want to talk about issues, we can talk. otherwise, we wont

not wrong, just have bigger fish to fry. i dont take you seriously, thats all. but in this case you do seem to be serious, since youve done lots of work now. certainly its very easy to pick things from the old testament that are extremely violent, but the new testament has some of these violent things as well. the church has used these to justify its horrific actions against humanity, for centuries as a totalitarian society. i mentioned to you inquisitions, jesuits, crusaders, mass killing of native children. priests child abuse covered up by the church, to this very day. did you know that the origin of antisemitism in europe goes back over a thousands years, and was instigated by the church? that is what the inquisition was all about, rooting out the jews. a heretic was a jew who was pretending to be christian for their own protection. martin luther himself was ne of the greatest antisemites in history, haveing written several scathing articles about what to do with the jews, that would make goebbels blush. in fact, adolph and joseph were mainly inspired by luther, that old german, who is more or less the father of modern protestantism. here is a link for one of his articles for you to peruse- On the Jews and their Lies tb-> "we can cherry-pick parts of the christian bible that say similar things. " now look, i am not here for christian-bashing, or any other religions because i think its a highly personal thing for many people, and not to offend things they believe. and these ancient writings need to be considered in their historical context, not to be taken LITERALLY, which is the problem of the fundamentalists. so i dont want to dwell on this much and pick it apart. but the fact is thats the way these societies think, holy war is in both religions, none is clean and bloodless when you observe their actions over the centuries someone created a website with a collection of some parts of NT here- http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/cruelty/nt.html not entirely unbiased interpretations, to be sure. but some highlights - "The children of the kingdom [the Jews] shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." - Cities that neither "receive" the disciples nor "hear" their words will be destroyed by God. It will be worse for them than for Sodom and Gomorrah. - Jesus criticizes the Jews for not killing their disobedient children as required by Old Testament law. - "But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." - The author of Acts talks about the "sure mercies of David." But David was anything but merciful. - "And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, ... Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death" etc. -
that is smewhat one-sided because, we are not completely free to do what we choose in the west either. society sets the standards for the individual to go by. we have our own dos and donts here, which change over the years. not too long ago, in this country, women could not vote. could not get certain jobs. their rights were restricetd, not even "persons". this was barely 70-80 years ago. even in the 1950's, our societys views of womens rights were repressive, and some feel there is still a way to go. although, "you've come a long way, baby". another example is drug prohibition, possessing cannabis is illegal, but not getting drunk. people are put in prison for years, for actions that have no effect on others. so we are not "free" in this sense. every society sets its own standards based on their sense of morality. in the case of islam, its much more conservative than we are, and they tend to shun materialism as well, a fundamental part of their religious beliefs which helps explain what we perceive as a lack of "progress" in their society. they choose not to, consciously. thus the whole premise of this thread is flawed. in all religions, and even in laws, theres theory vs reality. while the books may say wonderful things about peace, both islamic and judeo-christian, it always comes down to the human factor, what the humans do with it, is something different. and these things are used by the ruling elite to control society, despite the theory. so it doesnt matter what the religion is, be it muslim or christian or jew, or "other", the works of the society seems often to be in opposition to the main ideas of the book. Therefore to say, "islam is about violence, not peace", but not to see that the same argument applies to christianity, or judaism, is simply being biased.

i think your theory sounds reasonable. you are touching on the issue of "white superiority", and its origins here. so let me theorize a little further... for whatever reason, the white europeans have dominated other races throughout history. the egyptians took slaves, yes, but they did not expand their empire to a great extent, it was really the greeks first, alexander who made the first kind of "world empire". and this was modelled after by the roman empire many centuries later, which is still the foundation of our civilization today... part of the advantage is in military technology, which the white europeans seemd to always have the upper hand on. they developed these things faster than others. why is that? are the whites just smarter? i dont want to believe that, and im not sure it is in fact "smart". but it could be for certain tangible reasons, the geographical location of europe in the northern climate, means man has to live there by using technology, just in order to survive. so technology became an central element of their society, vs warmer climes where one doesnt need to build houses, or wear warm clothes, one can just sit on the beach... second possibility could be cultural, religion perhaps... the belief that man has dominion over the beasts of the earth, so as to subjugate nature, means having no problem doing it, use of animals as machines, then to create an industrial revolution, mechanize the use of natural resources for mass production... which brings us to the problem we have today, industrial living and destruction of the environment on a mass scale. so blame the whites! ;^) an oversimplification, yes. but just some thoughts over my morning coffee...

"Afghan President Hamid Karzai has offered the Taliban a position in government if the group renounces violence, and Defence Minister Peter MacKay has supported the proposal." Web Page 29/09/2007 "We do not negotiate with terrorists'" Friday, August 31, 2007 Web Page "Canada's military commander in Afghanistan says negotiating with the Taliban doesn't lead anywhere." Sept. 1 2007 Web Page --------------------------- hmm... so now we envisage a government that possibly includes the dreaded taliban? i mean, im all for the idea of a negotiated peace but... arent they spose to be the worst of all the islamofacists? and if we do that now, why couldnt we do it before this war started, before we sent our troops to fight them, only to invite them back to the table. or rather, why did we go in at all

as with all the gun crime lately in toronto... yet my impression from the many news articles, these are the second generation, born here, sons of immigrants. the root of their sociopathic behaviour may not come directly from their culture, but something else. gangs are an even bigger problem in the united states, and they are not immigrants, but inner-city youth. blacks & hispanics. they cling to violent culture as well. but then again, don't we all... they only want the same things we do... after the "whites" conquered and killed everybody they got to live according to their own beliefs, in relative peace... because no one is around to argue anymore. ... see that, thats outside the box again for ya

hardly, i dont follow any one ideology nor you over a cliff. just discussing my views like other people here. if real facts are presented, i try to consider them. most of all, i'm concerned about fairness. muslims can worship their god in my country as long as they dont oppress anyone in doing so, including women. that indeed is one thing they have to leave back home when they come here. the laws of canada apply to all. how we do that, and still allow fundamental freedoms, is the tricky part.
