  1. i did more than that, i showed you where to find it.
  2. "in her bedsheet " this shows you already have the problem in you, cultural bias and misunderstanding. "a very attractive blonde," same problem, i dont deny the rest of your comments about those muslim men. all the more reason for increasing cultural dialog, they need to learn from us about respect for women.
  3. maybe not so much a removal of all religious symbols, which is kind of like state sanctioned atheism... maybe another way is to give equality in representation to all religious symbolism, same as we attempt to do with other things in so-called political correctness. maybe it would even help to promote greater understanding and tolerance amongst different peoples, through learning about diverse cultures. in other words, celebration of the differences, not repression. not mono-culture. away with the melting pot! those are the old ideas of empire, and canada was created as an experiment, a new idea. a mosaic of culture. canada can show the world that it is possible for people to live in peace but it can only work if we defend the idea and make it work, so that it wont erode back to monoculture.
  4. i dont think we are talking about gourmet food preparations here. the ommission of pork from a muslim or jewish prisoners diet is reasonable. ultimately it is up to society as to how its prisoners are treated, and religious persecution is not part of the sentence. and since the prisoner has the legal right to take these actions, he should do so. certainly the state will execute its priviledge, with impunity, anytime it has the right to in legal matters. but could it simply be simply that because it was a "muslim" brings it to our attention these days? another sign the herd has been infected with islamophobia.
  5. i already answered that. if you only want to play games and not address real issues, i certainly wont be wasting my time with you.
  6. its not hard, its actually far too easy. but i dont need to do that for you. you can do it yourself. if you really want an answer just google "new testament violence". theres a couple of web sites that will give you all the references you need. if you mean though, that these are the actions of the muslim extremists, we can simply compare them to the christian church itself over the centuries, and find theres very little difference inquisitions, crusaders, jesuits, murderers and cover ups. raping 9 year olds? child molestation by priests, coverups and denials by popes. i dont want to offend anyone who's a christian, or to challenge their beliefs because we are taking about extremists and oppressive totalitarian institutions. perhaps not at all what jesus intended, these are the works of powerful men, and you know what power does to people...
  7. What he calls "payment" amounts to a bowl of rice a day, for a poor girl in India who works as a seamstress 10-12 hours 6 days a week, to make your pants for sale at wally mart. Thats how you get to buy the pants for $19.99, because if they payed her what someone in North America would make, they would cost $69.99. Is that truely a form of payment? No it is not, that is why the corporations have outsourced their production to third world countries. Those countries, are needed to make the cheapest goods posible. Most important, they are needed to remain POOR by our comparative standards, so that the grotesque profit margin continues.
  8. Well you ladies, I sympathize. The whole social expectation for extreme beauty, thinness, whiteness, causes quite a trauma for young girls. They think they need to spend more time in front of the mirror, just to be acceptable. And then, they are seen as purely objects of desire, not people. Might I dare suggest, covering up with a veil? What I really mean is, does this thread help you understand why a woman would want to do that? I am not kidding, or trying to upset you, just these are my thoughts lately. I was in Ottawa the other day and saw many women wearing head coverings, and to be honest, I cannot help but admire these women. Not because I think women should cover up because its "dirty" or offensive, nothing like that, but to me its because they seem to have less preoccupation with looks and fashion, as over the years styles move to trying to show more skin and even underwear, nightwear, lingerie, it doesnt impress me. In fact the more showy she is, the more "sexy", I get turned off because, by and large I've found that these are shallow people sometimes. They think beauty is only skin deep, but real beauty for me is, the well developed person.
  9. I dont try to say their religion is any better than others, but we can cherry-pick parts of the christian bible that say similar things. Just trying to keep an open mind, to avoid mass hysteria.
  10. i dont know. i'm no expert. but reading ome of their literature lately, it is in fact more tolerant than certain parts of the bible which also call for execution of people who transgress against the lord. people who have pimples, for example. to be fair, christianity has much blood on its hands too. theres the so-called theory, and the reality. but most muslims are ordinary people like you and me, not extremists. and extremists will find any excuse for their actions. no need to be an islamophobe though. allahu akbhar ;^)
  11. One thing about the muslims, they have certain of these religious beliefs about what one should and should not eat, but if its not possible to eat that way, due to 'circumstances', they are allowed to eat what they can. those are the preferred ways for them but their religion recognizes there are times when that isnt possible, due to war starvation or whatever, and allah will forgive them. most of the rules in islam are allowed to be broken under difficult circumstances. hence we dont have to pander to them in jails. BUT, if there's already a precedent for other religions, jews etc, then we should accomodate it.
  12. theres a lot of hate towards michael moore coming from certain parts of the US media, which you seem to be in agreeance with. but i really dont see the comparison at this level, one man sends his troops to war, triggering the deaths of thousands, possibly its an illegal war and certainly very unpopular, around the entire world. the other guy makes documentaries. you might not agree with the hype of his documentaries but you really cant compare the two. many times when somone stands up to the system in the US they get attacked relentlessly by the media... which tells us who is running it, and who's being indoctrinated. "If Saddam had gone into exile, he would have come back for a greatest hits reunion tour sooner or later and Iraq would have had to deal with him all over again." your making a big assumption there. they could have negotiated a political takover in iraq, put al maliki in power, put their henchmen in the parliament and implemented the US agenda, without going through hell first. in otherwords, a shortcut to the success they have yet to obtain. thus the war accomplished NOTHING that could not have been done by other means
  13. if the taxes created this surplus, its because of cuts to social programs. we should reinstate some of those programs. some of the money can be used to reduce health care wait lines. health care is a bottomless pit, i know but we are not providing it as well as we should in some areas, and it needs much better oversight to prevent abuses. it seems we are gradually migrating more to an american style system, with lower tax and minimal social services. i'd rather pay my taxes knowing that the money is used for important things in the society. theres no denying we have been pretty prosperous over the past few decades, regardless of the fact we're taxed at a high level. we've done well even in comparison to the united states, where the trend is to working longer hours for both partners in a household, just to maintain the bottom line. at the same time, they dont have those benefits we do. se we've done very well, and we need to protect what we have. thats why all these cuts dont make sense this proves we can afford it. we should continue doing it, provide better services and do it fairly, with more oversight. forget the bankers, invest in the people!
  14. as i said, "more people have been killed by the us military and its appendages since WWII, than any other country." so there you have it, bc.
  15. i have already said under those circumstances, one has no choice but to defend oneself from barbarians. so i dont see how you equate that kind of thinking to me. other than, my point about using some caution before you engage. because once you engage, its full on or nothing. sure, i see your point and its well taken, but no need to say, rome fell because of people like me. you describe them as hedonist and i am not a hedonist
  16. ifi were unfortunate enough to be there, i might be shooting, yes. who knows i dont think they are taught this, maybe they panic see the problem is, war is insidious. in many wars both sides are the loser. except for big corporations
  17. wheres the army guy to keep telling me about all the wonderful debaters here. such meaningful content
  18. the money belongs to the people of canada. it should be used to rebuild our cities, roads, open the womens shelters again, reduce childhood poverty which is actually growing. not for the fat cat bankers. if/when the world economy crash and money become worthless, those countries with huge debt will simply pull out ther erasers and forget about it. then canada will look silly for all we've done with the surpluses
