  1. Yes it does. But that was all brought up in the first thread on the topic. Is there anything new being brought to the board with this thread?
  2. Fear of lawsuits? How far along the process did a company need to be to be grandfathered? Doesn't grandfathering create an uneven playing field? There are a lot of reasons 'other than incompetence'.
  3. I still think the residual effect against Rae in Ontario is overplayed. Sure there are lots of Ontarians who don't like him. But remember that in 1997 Chretien got 101 out of 103 Ontario seats with less than 50% of the vote in the province. The Libs still got about 40% of the vote in the province in January. Rae can get back 3 o 5 points from the Liberal-NDP swing voters and get 60 to 70 seats in the province. Quebeckers like him. He'll play well in BC. The staunch anti-Rae types in Ontario already vote Conservative so it doesn't help us.
  4. They will have the power but they won't do it. Impeachment of a serious President is a very serious matter. That is why it has only be done three times in US history. The impeachments of Johnson and Clinton were poltical gamesmanship and not in the best interest of the country. Nixon is the only clear cut case of where a President should have been impeached. Say what you will about Bush in Iraq but it isn't impeachable... The Democrats want to appear like a statesmanlike party who is above the fray. Nancy Pelosi is making that very clear to any House candidate who even mentions impeachment...
  5. I have a feeling Dion might win. As much as there hasn't been much talk of the old Chretien-Martiin schism it still exists. More and more looks like the old Chretienites are going with Iggy. The old Martinites are more fractured, but there are a few of them with Dion now. I suspect they will coalesce around Dion after the first ballot and that's why I think he will win. Rae really is the best choice for the Liberals. He'll do the most at healing the rift, another plus to his candidacy for the Liberals. Go Dion go! I look forward to watching the convention. A great speech, or terrible speech could change the balance. We haven't had a leadership race this interesting for a major party since 1983.
  6. For a three day poll I would think it definitely would show the way it played out. Most polling calls are made in the evening hours. When most people would have had the chance to hear the income trust decision. The people most likely effected would be the ones most likely to follow the news closely enough to probably know about it by the time they got home ... when the pollsters would have called on the second day of the poll. The third evening of calls would have been after the story had been in the papers and everybody would have known. Assuming roughly equal numbers of people were spoken to on each day. No guarantees of that but it is an industry rule of thumb.
  7. When the status quo didn't involve Encana, BCE and Telus converting to income trusts. The situation changed, there was no status quo to protect. The first five links on your google search are from: 1. A philosohpy message board. 2. A translation from a French university Web site. 3. The blog of a self-described artist and punk musician. 4. A web site dedicated to the making the world better off for the New Millennium. 5. An article on providing "what every debater should know about economics". You would think a standard finance industry term would return some links to finance industry pages. Now can you please stop showing your lack of knowledge and highlighting it with such an ignorant and condescending response!
  8. I don't see Obama running this time around. Four years as a Senator and one failed run at a House nomination does not make for a great track record. Bill Richardson would be a good candidate, but I don't really think he wants it. Even though he supposedly told party leaders he was interested. It is a little too early to start wondering about the presidential nomination. We should at least wait until the midterms are over.
  9. I believe you are right, but hope you are wrong. I think that Rae is their best choice for them. But if I had to put money on it I would guess that Dion wins on the third ballot.
  10. Anytime any place. So that promise didn't do anything? But why is breaking the promise such a big deal? Yes, it is. Supporting evidence? I can't support the negative but if it is standard industry terminology it should take you about two minutes to find support. Don't think you will though...
  11. Real mature RB. Yet you are the one crying to the mod. You know what Greg does? Do you want links to many of the repeated examples of Gerry following me around? Gerry accused me of 'crying liek a baby', but it's my maturity in question? Like I have said before, a poster with an agenda to attack the PM at every turn and not listen to or take part in debate is not in the best interest of a publicly-funded message board. I am staying within the rules of the board in questioning Gerry's attacks and will continue to do so as long as he is allowed to spread his hatred.
  12. Pretty tough hiding behind that computer screen Figs. Convenient how you chose the higher figure. What if we look at the index from election day. Isn't it fair to say that the government has still 'created' wealth on the income trust index? No, destroyed isn't standard terminology for the industry.
  13. I have stood up to Gerry more than others, but I think I am playing a fair role. Look at all my other posts. I post on a variety of topics and even find the time to criticize the Government on occasion. Gerry's are all the same thing. You are correct about that Wilber. Stan, what would you like me to do? Isn't ignoring Gerry just letting him win?
  14. 49% of Canadians opposed SSM at the time it was passed in Parliament. Call them 'homophobes' all you want. It just cheapens the debate and shows how old and sad your argument is. Wow the Conservatives lost a total of four seats in the closest three-way province in the country while picking up 28 seats in the rest of the county. Get this straight normie. The vast majority of Canadians aren't members of the GLBT community. Members of the community will never vote for Harper. He gets that and doesn't really care. Why should he? The rights of members of the community are protected and no efforts have been made to remove them.
  15. All my criticisms were valid. You insulted me, you did double-post and threatened me. I've probably PM'd Greg five consecutive times about your insults with no response. At some point you get the point he just isn't listening. If the rules don't apply to you they don't apply to me. However, I will let decency guide me. Whereas instability and rudeness guide you.
  16. What an utterly sanctimonious response. If the announcement truly *destroyed* $20 to $30 billion overnight than wasn't $3 to $4 billion *undestroyed* on Friday?
  17. He was definitely a "key backroom player" in the mergers as you discussed. How could the only "key backroom players" in a merger of two parties all be from the same party?
  18. Did he *undestroy* the billions in market value that were created when the trust index rebounded on Friday?
  19. I am. Although I wouldn't want to share personal contact information with him. Too much potential for a 'going postal' sorta incident.
  20. Then don't participate in those threads. Love the irony of this exchange.
  21. I hope you're not suggesting the moderator should step in when someone accuses Peter Mackay of lying about the Stronach comment/gesture? do you gotta bring your anti-harper/anti-conservative agenda to the Support and Questions part of the forum?
  22. First anti-Harper thread of the day .... Gerryhatrick! First double-post of a thread topic of the day ... Gerryhatrick! Most annoying Harper hater who needs to get over it ... Gerryhatrick! 3 for 3 buddy. Good work.
  23. From today's Red Star. Link I think the respondents are 100% wrong in this one. If anything Iggy will be the easiest one for us to beat in the general.
  24. What people on this board are sick of is your inappropriate language, knee-jerk anti-Harperism without thought or an attempt to consider other people's opinions. If you want a free ride to attack Harper go to Rabble...
