  1. The doctrine of separation of church and state is an American one. How is recognizing the fact that most Canadians celebrate Christmas basing policy on a certain religion? The Christmas celebrations of most Canadians aren't based in the Christian religion. How is anybody hurt by a Christmas tree in a courthouse?
  2. Then why a smart*ss remark like this when asked where he should serve in Government?
  3. Do explain... It is a democratic principle to be anti-religion?
  4. There are Canadians who work as screenwriters in jurisdictions that don't have Cancon laws. Aren't there?
  5. Who never spoke publicly of his faith and broke with the dictates of his church the instant it proved to be politically advantageous. Why should Mr. Reid be excluded from serving the Government at any level because you disagree with his views on global warming?
  6. Still not providing an actual answer. Avoiding the question and pushing your agenda without attempting to debate or deal with the issue... Separation of church and state is an American concept isn't it? Given your outspoken views on GW Bush and the US Govemment that's a little convenient...
  7. So Canadians of faith have no place in Government. Hmmm, but I thought freedom of religion was protected by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Just as long as you aren't public in expressing one's faith? Or do you have an approved list of religions?
  8. That conveniently ignores the fact that Christmas is much more diffusely celebrated than just practing Christians. It's a very convenient way for the angry Left to push their agenda.
  9. Tenuous at best. Feel free to answer the second question.
  10. Do provide support... Which ministry would be appropriate for Mr. Reid? Or because you oppose his views does that mean he shouldn't be allowed to serve the Government at all?
  11. John Williams - Edmonton-St. Albert and Ken Epp - Edmonton-Sherwood Park have both announced they aren't running again.
  12. Did Darrel Reid steal Canada from you as a child? This obsession of yours is quite troubling.
  13. What does any of this have to do with David Orchard?
  14. These are the ridings Rae would certainly pickup. Ottawa-Centre, Barrie, Parkdale-High Park, and the three Hamilton seats. Belinda not safe? While I wish you were right in that I can't see it happening. She won by almost 5,000 votes even with the 'outrage' at her party switching. All the Federalists in Quebec already vote Liberal? That is a joke right. The Conservatives got 24.6% of the vote in Quebec in January, the Liberals got 20.7%. Throw in the 7.5% and that probably approximate the total Federalist vote in Quebec. If Rae takes the Liberal vote up to 30% in Quebec that easily gives them an extra ten seats in the province.
  15. Why Gerry? 15 and 16 year-olds deserve Government protection. Do you favour pedophiles preying on 15 and 16 year olds?
  16. The long-term succession of the mission is distinct from the short-term success off the mission. Someone like Mubarak in Egypt.
  17. I think Rae appeals to Quebec for what I just stated above. The Federalists in Quebec liked Meech Lake and Charlottetown. Rae supported both deals and Harper opposed them. His French is solid. His lefty social leanings appeal to Quebeckers as well. Instead of dancing around them look at those issues. Which two seats would he lose in Ontario? With Rae as leader they pick up: Ottawa-Centre, Barrie, Parkdale-High Park, and the three Hamilton seats. I'm not saying I support Rae. I'm saying he is the toughest potential Liberal leader for the Conservatives to beat.
  18. What is your problem with the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Minister of Foreign Affairs meeting our troops? Are you that against our forces you can't see straight to support these clear morale building trips? I take it your silence on the non-partisan issue clearly recognizes how tied to the Liberal Party of Canada Jean is.
  19. Your appalling ignorance about taxes is an example of why the left can't run governments. An excise tax on gas, charged by ALL provinces, is not a PST. Some provinces charge PST on top of the excise tax, some don't. Continually crying socon is pathetic normie. *scary* *scary* *scary* didn't work in January and socon socon socon won't work either. That's absolute crap that the Ontario Health Care premioum wasn't news on the West coast. It was National news for a good week. Ignore it all you want. It's called selective memory Normie. Campbell is a Liberal in name only. The Liberal Party of BC is not affiliated with the Federal Liberals whatsoever. Everybody knows they are the old socreds with a new name. The provincial Liberals in Ontario are left-leaning. There is a huge ideological difference between the Liberal Party of BC and the Liberal Party of Ontario. Take a look at the facts before hurling your 'socon' insults.
  20. Take an actual look at the situation in Quebc. Remember Bob Rae supported Meech Lake and Charlottetown. His French is the excellent. Quebecois appreciate his lefty social leanings. He has the possibility of gaining a bit in Ontario. Let's say he picks up six seats there, eight more in Quebec, two in the Maritimes, one in MB, one in SK and two in BC. That puts them right there with where the Conservatives are now.
  21. Why is it always the oil and gas boogeyman? When the price of oil and gas was in the dumpers in the mid 90s Klein used the initiatives that geoffrey mentioned to help balance the budget. You are mistaken ... again. Alberta has the lowest excise tax on a litre of gas in the country. Here's a link. Ontario started charging a health care premium last year. It was in all the news Normie, but then again Dalton McGuinty is a darling of the left so you wouldn't want to actually tell the truth and make him look bad.
  22. Non-partisan? Right normie. Talk about having the blinders on. You somehow have a problem with the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defence meeint the troops. Please explain that. As a 'non-partisan' why isn't Jean speaking out about the clearly partisan efforts of the opposition?
  23. That is a valid point, and I still maintain that Bob Rae is the only leader with a real shot at winning for the Liberals in the spring. On the Ontario thing. Sure he will lose a lot of centre/centre-right Liberal voters, but he will also pick up a lot of NDP voters. I think Ontario is a wash with Rae as leader and the Conservatives pick up a few seats in Quebec. He might help them pick up seats in SK, MB and BC. Should do well in Quebec...
  24. Probably, we seem to have a proliferation of threads on identical topics. A hat trick = a three-peat. No pun intended. Or it could mean three pathetic attempts by the same single-minded poster on his own thread that nobody else cares about...
  25. This is ridiculous and sorta makes sense it was in l'actualite. Gotta wonder if Quebec really wants to open this debate. Through hydro-electric income into the mix and Quebc might actually be a have province. There are many, many examples of inefficiency in the Quebec budgeting system. Yet instead of dealing with them they expect the rest of Canada (Alberta, BC and Ontario) to pay for them. Why not attack NFLD for the deal struck on offshore oil???
