If they are willing to work hard and put in an honesty day's work the welcome mat is out to anybody...

Agreed about the AFC game. Tom Brady turned it around in the second half of the Chargers game. I'm going with the Pats. Head's up in a pressure game he has done it and Manning hasn't. The adjustments they made at half time were great. The composure he showed under pressure proved to me his healthy and in teh right state of mind. I think you are 100% right about the Bears. Rex Grossman??? The Seahawks did not play very well at all and the Bears just squeaked it out.

My condescension is not needed? I watched all four games this weekend. The last three minutes of playing time in none of them came anywhere an hour. Any examples of these mythical hour-long final three minute games? The average playing time for an NFL game is 3:06. That includes half-time with entertainment for the fans. Here's the link. How could they do that with the last three minutes lasting and hour? You still haven't explained the crumbling to the ground comment. It was your mischaracterization of the game I took issue with. If you are going to state an objection to the game at least make them reasonable. Humourless? Seems like posting on a thread to beliitle the interests of other posters on the thread is a real fun thing to do!

What was the name for a proposed country of Alberta and BC? Cascadia? Something tells me that just might pass. Outside the lower mainland and the Island the two provinces are very, very similar.

Dissent on climate change within Tory ranks
Ricki Bobbi replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, Suzuki has a lot of sway. If they can get him on side that would be a huge plus. That *could* be enough to swing them a majority. btw, I saw Suzuki do the interview on Question Period. So it will probably be on the late CTV News as well... -

Dissent on climate change within Tory ranks

If the NDP are going to run to the media over something this minor *everytime* they meet with Baird it doesn't bode well for working together to come up with a plan on the environment. Get control of your caucus Jacko... This is a good thing for the Conservatives. Once they do come up with a solid plan it will show how the progressive wing of the party is becoming more and more dominant on policy issues... -
But his social skills do! To be fair Harper's profession has always been politics, not economics.

Joe Volpe?

It was more than just *Alberta politicians* who had an issue with the wording of the Quebec referendum question.

I am absolutely cheering for the Saints in the NFC Championship game. Their defence was incredible. I think it was over-hyped how well they played against KC. But they proved it against the Ravens. Chargers or Patriots will be in tough against the Colts. So far, middle fo the third quarter, it's been a pretty weak game. Two Tom Brady INTs wtf? 3:30 let in the fourth. Game has certainly picked up. Patriots starting from their 15 tied game. Woo hoo.... No they wouldn't. It's kinda hard to believe that Brees fell to the second round that draft year. Man, wouldn't a San Diego-New Orleans Superbowl be phenomenal? Yes he does stupid stuff. But he just doesn't think things through. He trains hard and there are some reporters with an axe to grind. That overdose/suicide story this year was horribly irresponsible journalism.

The Western Standard published a poll this fall. the polster was Compas. It's a pretty vague question. Adding up the strongly agrees and somewhat agrees they only got 28% support. Here is the link to the poll.

The Federal Accountability Act - A fraud
Ricki Bobbi replied to Saturn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Sure it is. -
Conservatives don't do that. The only Conservative candidates who didn't spend the majority of their time during the last election in Alberta were Stephen Harper (obviously) and Rob Anders. This is a huge example the differences between Canadian and US elections that screamer Dean just doesn't get. There isn't enough cash allowed within the spending limits to have regular MPs campaign across the country for the entire election. Flights cost money....

The Federal Accountability Act - A fraud
Ricki Bobbi replied to Saturn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
None of it is balanced. One quote critical of the biggest case of Government corruption in the last 25 years is half-arsed. Not balacned at all. Do you have any quotes where they provided anything but an attack on the Conservatives over the accountability act? -
Wow, that shows how sad your attacks on the Government are. Does Myron have extreme views? Absolutely. Does he respresent anything close to the mainsteam of the party? Absolutely not! Has he been given any sort of power? A cabinet seat? Parliamentary secretaryship? Anything of importance in caucus? No, No, No and No! btw how old were those quotes? Interesting how Myron has kept quiet for two consecutive elections. Must drive you nuts you don't have Myron saying foolish things anymore to sink the Conservative's election chances.....

The Conservative agenda and the ethnic vote

Like what? Like this. Using such big font is psychotic and strange. The following is just weird and random. Define 'functioning'? -
The Federal Accountability Act - A fraud
Ricki Bobbi replied to Saturn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The one you posted? Singular doesn't use the s. So that would be attacks. I am referring to the fact that dwatch portrays the final accountability act that was passed as being a conscious effort at fraud committed by the conservative govenrment as if they weren't restrained by a minority government and a Liberal senate. -
The Conservative agenda and the ethnic vote
Ricki Bobbi replied to Saturn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yeah, we know MD00 has issues. Saturn's just hard to read, swinging between reasonable and wingnut. But trying to defend it was a beautiful move on his part. -
Support for Alberta separation at 40%? That is absolute bullsh*t. No way it is even close to that high. In the last provincial election the Separation Party of Alberta could only run 12 candidates. None of those candidates got more than 7% of the vote in their riding...

The Federal Accountability Act - A fraud
Ricki Bobbi replied to Saturn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So every law is exactly equal and no matter what law you break you should be seen as a law breaker in the eyes of the public with now examination of what happened? A jaywalker should be judged to be just as bad, not better not worse, than a murderer? The particular law involved is the changes to the Election Act enacted by Chretien, not the Accountability Act. No law was broken as the error was caught in an interim filing. If it is really important to attack the Government over this issue why didn't you research your post a little better? -
There is a general consensus among Ontarians, Quebeckers, and Maritimers that Alberta runs the surpluses it does only because of our natural resources. It has nothing to do with the very hard work put in to run the oil sector. They don't recognize that Ralph Klein originally balanced the provincial budget with oil at less that $20 a barrel through considerable cuts to a wide variety of provincial services and some very innovative policy choices. They can't fathom that Ontario has some very natural advantages with the proximity of its manufacturing sector to the huge markets in the US midwest and the protectionism of the late 1800s and early 1900s that allowed the sector to grow and expand. Quebeckers don't see how the strength of their union movement makes it incredibly difficult to compete on the global stage. Alberta would not be able to run the surpluses it does and continue to contribute to equalization and provide $7 a day health care, and have the Quebec's level of provincial employees. I have had Maritimers tell me that Albertans have nothing to complain about because it is the *government's* money and we should have no say on how it is spent. Where is the respect for the long hours we put in at work and the blood and sweat it took to develop the oil patch. Our financial contributions to Canada are taken for granted, we are looked down on for not giving more and our culture and political beliefs are mocked. That is not respect. Just don't make fun of us, how we vote and what we do with our lives. Is that too much to ask?

That is such a f*cking joke and why the Liberals don't get it. They have no clue about what Alberta wants and make ridiculous claims. A special tax on everybody but Alberta and a $10K cheque every year? That's ridiculous. Alberta pays more in than we take out of confederation. All we want is a little consideration of that fact and respect. Instead it is pay more, more, more everytime. And ignorant claims about what it is that we truly want. Belittled and mocked as hicks. Gerard Kennedy could have *possibly* appealed to Albertans. His ideas of an enterprise economy would have hit home very well here.
