Global Warming and the 5th Estate
Who's Doing What? replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Saw an interesting presentation on NOVA tonight. Says the Permian extinction was caused by the earth being warmed, through some serious volcanic activity in what is now Siberia, which released tons of CO2 and other good stuff into the atmosphere. Anyway the excess CO2 warms the earth, which warms the oceans, which due to scientific principles cannot hold as much gas ie. oxygen, when they are warm as opposed to when they are cold.(Think of a cold soft drink compared to a warm one) The lack of Oxygen creates a perfect environment for some bacteria that release some type of sulphuric poisonous gas into the water, as a by product, killing any nearby life. After reaching a critical mass under water, the gas begins to actually bubble out of the oceans, killing any local life on land and poisoning the atmosphere. Cool stuff. Permian Extinction saw 95% of life in the oceans wiped out. They don't have the whole segment up on the PBS site yet but I will post it later when they do. -

Outlawing smoking in the home

I think we need to "hotbox" Betsy with some chronic, and see if she still thinks second hand smoke is harmless. As soon as she stops giggling we could ask her. -
Touche. On the other hand, protest is not the diametric opposite of inactivity. Ah but protest is political exercise.
-
Nice to see we've have learned the lessons from the Cod fishery and Whaling industry.
-
So do online Political forums. Why don't you go outside and protest something?

Outlawing smoking in the home
Who's Doing What? replied to Ladyjen's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Really? It's already illegal for me to smoke in my own home, because all I smoke is pot. That is one law that should be changed. Puff on BM. -
I take it that you would have the same admiration for the descendents of Marie Antoinette and the Russian Tsars who wish to fight for what was taken unjustly from them? Hold on there are some "just" reasons for compensation. The Pipe Carrier I will be seeing tomorrow, is scarred and traumatised from his stint in one of the notorious catholic schools. I have no problem with him getting a few thousand or hundred thousand dollars for his pain. I know I would be suing the govt for a hell of a lot more if someone took me from my home, put me in a boarding school and beat me for speaking english. My sympathy ends with my land I am afraid. It has been paid for, and used by my family since 1925, and has been owned by Europeans since the mid to early 1800's. No way in heaven or hell am I giving up title to it because some 300 yr old piece of scrap paper says there was a deal with the King. I also have no truck with people being considered better or more worthy than me simply because of their race. I was brought up learning that we are all equal. Unfortunatly that is BS. The laws of this country are racist and give special rights and freedom to a certain group for no other reason than because of their race.

Outlawing smoking in the home

Is not smoking in the home knowingly endangering a childs health? I used get so car sick as a kid because of the chain smoking my dad and his girlfriend did. Now is not much different, other than it is when my wife and I go out with my mom and her boyfriend to my uncle's and her boyfriend smokes. I get headaches, nausea and just feel shitty all around. I feel sorry for all the people I made sick when I smoked for 12 years. -
I play NHL 07 the same way I played NHL 93. Bang, crash and shoot. I still can't do the on the fly line changes. Heck I can't even pick my line for a face off. I supposed if my level of competition was higher I would learn these things but eh, I keep it simple. Tones of one-timers and around 80 hits a game, when the time is sped up. 10 minute periods at regular speed I will have well over 100 bodychecks a game. I also have a few moves on the breakaway, or from the side of the net that really seem to piss off anybody I play against. Nothing like what I could do with Mogilny in 93 though. Run the goalie at an angle and pass the puck at the same time = Automatic goal. 5 seconds off the draw. I got banned from using Buffalo because of that. I got banned from using Chicago in 93 because of JR's one-timer from the slot. He was money. Banned from Winnipeg because of Selanne, doing the same as what I did with Mogilny. The list goes on. We used to have three TV's going every night there was a Leafs game. One for the Leafs game, one for the Super Nintendo, and one for the Sega Genisis. Good Times. Man I feel old all of a sudden.

Actually from what I have seen of the new Nintendo it looks like the player will be physically active during some games. If Childhood obesity is a concern I would look into that one.

You are quite correct. That was the subject of discussion in synagogue a few Saturdays ago. It was a pretty good Seinfeld episode too. And your point in that pointless remark? I like the Hats. That was conversion to Judaism on Seinfeld. That was Latvian Orthodox Christianity. Wasn't* conversion to Judaism...sorry Eh who cares. -

Fine, dismiss Yogananda as a crack-pot if you wish. Nicolas Notovitch -
How condescending of you. But quite accurate from what I can see. You feel women are entitled to have a discriminatory policy that women would be freaking out about, if men tried the same thing.

Yes perverted and corrupted by atheist perverts infiltrating the church and masquerading as Christians. Elton John is a good example as to why him and his filth should be put back in the closet and the door locked. UH.... Jimmy Baker, Pat Robertson, the lastest Meth using Gay preacher Haggard, how about the Catholic Priests who molested all those children. Were these people all athiests? Wake up man you've been brainwashed. Ever see the show Chris Angel Mind Freak? He is a crazy illusionist who astounds peole in this day and age where science is widely taught. Keep that in mind. Now most people/christians don't know that Jesus went to India during his "missing years". He learned mysticism form the Yogi's. It is actually in their texts. (read Paramahansa Yoganada) Now with his training in eastern mysticism, like the fabled climbing a rope that goes nowhere, imagine how he would have appeared to a bunch of uneducated, illiterate, scared and impoverished people. He would have appeard to have magical powers. Have you ever read the bible? Jesus himself says he is just a man, and that someday we will do as he does. I say Jesus was nothing more than a great illusionist, just like Chris Angel is. Thats a theory. One I dont think there is much evidence for. That Jesus went to India. I am not saying its not true or impossible. But there is no reason to believe that because some guy was written about in Indian texts who in the minds of very few people bears a slight resemblance to Jesus that this is the same man. I think there is more evidence to suggest that a Jesus was prophesied in Hindu literature. But once again, not enough to say for sure. I am a Christian. I believe Jesus existed. But there are a great many people out there who dont find there is enough evidence to suggest that the man ever lived. Therefore it is quite another thing to say he went to India as if it were an established fact. As I said go read Paramahansa Yoganada. -

What about Swaggart and Baker? Not gay. The whack job Pat Robertson advocating assassination is not gay. Atleast not to my knowledge. Blaming it all on being gay is ludacris. Link Link Link Link Link LinkIt is not because they are gay that they abuse children. -

Jimmy Baker - Adultery, Fraud - went to jail. Pat Robertson - Called for the US to Assassinate the Venezuelan President Chavez. Jimmy Swaggart - Consorting with a prostitute. Link -
Look how many times women have fought for the rights to join boys only clubs, play on the same sports teams etc, running around screaming sexism and inequality. Yet when a woman opens up a womens only gym it is looked upon as a good thing. Such hypocracy is doomed to fail.

I would wager I know just as much about religion as you CB. Sure you may have an advantage on Judaism being jewish and all, but there are more religions than just yours. So are you saying the Rabbi's live in poverty? Total BS. Source$50,000 to $150,000 per year on average. Wow. Yet you say I'm a bigot for saying they are getting rich. Ya ok. I wish I could live as poorly as an average Rabbi.
