Feminism. I always took you for more of a Liberal minded person, anyway that's a ballsy post. Good luck defending yourself... In some areas I am very Liberal minded, in others very conservative. This topic is neither. Just basic observation. It is easy to see that feminism has brought about the downfall of Traditional Marriage.

Who should have the Liberals made leader?
Who's Doing What? replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well from the comments he has made since the leadership convention the Liberals are lucky they didn't select Iggy. As a hockey fan I wanted to see Dryden get in. He may have helped the Quebec vote more than Dion. Basically as bad as some perceive Dion to be he may well be the best of a bad lot. I can't wait to see the dust fly when Stronach gets in as leader when Dion goes. -
To be a PM, do you have to be a BULLY?

From what I have witnessed during Question Period the govt. is a disgrace. Every bloody question is answered with an insult to either the Member who asked the question, the party the member is from, or just a blanket statement about how it is the former Govt. fault. Not once have I seen a direct answer. All I want to see is some answers given. If their programs and ideas are so damned impressive why are the Conservatives having such a hard time answering questions about them. What is going on now is just a waste of taxes. Basically it boils down to deflection away from the real issues and attacking the messenger and ignoring the message. Just where the hell is the integrity we were promised? -
And that's what's so sad about you all. Because, in effect, what you are saying is: "Well, yes, the Liberals I support were crooks and liars, and yes I'm a God damned hypocrite" but you're no better!" I mean, that IS your argument, that IS what all this boils down to. And the moment your party is back in power all your concern about misuse of aircraft, and patronage and waste will evaporate. And then you have the gall to accuse others of hypocrisy. The very same could be said of you and your blind devotion to Harper. How sad. You keep defending his "ethics" when he has time and again shown he has little or none. Atleast no more than the Liberals he replaced. Is not the entire CPC argument " But we're not as bad as the Liberals." Like jeez man set the bar a little higher. Who cares if the CPC are a step above or below the Liberals on the Sleeze scale. They said they wouldn't be on it at all. INTEGRITY was the main focus of the campaign. It turned out to just be something that got tossed out the window within days of gettng elected.

You are missing the point. It is not the Liberals who are saying they are or were better. It was and is the Conservatives who ran an entire campaign on how they were different and morally and ethically superior to the Liberals They are ethically and morally superior to the Liberals. But they are still politicians and they are still working within the political system of Canada. Anyone who expected them to be Mother Theresa in office must be pretty damned naive. LMAO You really are blinded by your partisanship. They are the same. Both are a bunch of unethical liars who will do whatever suits them.
-
Without admitting this is entirely true - how, exactly, does this make you any better? Perfectly fine with all the Liberals do, then squawk, squawk, squawk at the Tories doing similar things on a smaller scale. You are missing the point. It is not the Liberals who are saying they are or were better. It was and is the Conservatives who ran an entire campaign on how they were different and morally and ethically superior to the Liberals and then turn around and showed within days of being elected that they are the same, and they have done nothing but continue this trend. The hypocracy is, as guyser said, amusing. The blind faith of some in this govt. is even more so.

Now why didn't someone bring that up when the Conservative were bashing the Liberals for doing the same damn thing? Because they didn't. It wasn't the occasional use of aircraft that bugged the Conservatives, it was the open and massive misuse of them. Ya,ya. I'm sure this is totally different.

Time to take off the Conservative Blue goggles you've been looking through Argus. Good ol' Harper is no different from Chretien or Martin or any of your hated Liberals, or so-called Lefty Fanatics.

Would you support your taxes paying for free birth control so the adults who don't realise and want the responsibility, wouldn't be having "accidents"? -

If they worked the minimum to earn the minimum what is the problem? They did go to work. They also have to work X number of weeks to get Y number of weeks of EI each year. It's not like they refused to use birth control and now the rest of the country has to support their child for 6 years, plus other expenses like schools, that go along with what children need, and we all get taxed for. I have no sympathy for the finacial hardships of anyone living in a million dollar mansion. Sell your home buy or start a business or simply take your money and retire to Mexico. (unless you are from Woodbridge, then you might want to go to Costa Rica ) Cancell it for those who don't need it, for sure. Any blanket policy, like handing out $100 to every family with a young child, is quite simply idiotic. Now that is an excellent idea! Too bad common sense and the House of Commons don't get together very often. -

These people will be multi-millionaires when they sell their farm. Something which could happen as soon as 3-5 years. They could easily get over a million for it today if they wanted, but with some serious high class development projects being started nearby, within a few years the value will sky rocket. The Grandfather has admitted to me he already has roughly 1/4 of a million in cash in the bank. Plus other land assets amongst other things. What do they need child care money for? You have no problem giving these people your taxes, to simply put in the bank? I agree. Good idea. It is definitely one solution. I believe there is some incentive program in place, to create daycare in the workplace, or something like that. Someone else would know more. Another good idea, but would people still get tax breaks for having kids? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes it was a very blatent vote purchase, and was given additional airtime and exposure through the stupid "beer and popcorn" comment. This also goes to the tax rebate for putting your kids into organized sports. Thing is you already need to have money to put your kids into organized sports, which not only means the poor families who could have used some subsidized spaces and equipment are shafted again, but you an I are going to pay for these middle to upper class kids to play hockey and baseball somewhere down the road, as the Govt . takes money out of our pockets to cover the rebates. My(our) taxes going to people who already have more money than me(us). -
Just wanted to get some oppinions on this. First off I want to make it perfectly clear I have no problem with helping to feed or clothe a child in need. But here is the scenario: A friend recently had a child. The mother stays home and the Father works full time making decent money. Both live on the Father's family farm with his parents, paying basically next to nothing for room and board. They have no need for child care, since the Grandfather is retired and the Grandmother only works part time, as well as the mother staying home. I was just wondering what people thought about the idea that every cheque they recieve of our tax dollars goes into a bank account for the child. Our taxes are are creating a nest egg for this kid. The cheque never, I repeat never, goes towards food, clothing, shelter, or day care or other baby sitting for the kid. My wife and I have even looked after him ourselves while the couple went out to dinner. Free of charge I might add, and there is no shortage of others who would do the same. After 6 years when the cheques will stop this child will have about $7000 plus accrued interest in his savings account all coming from our pockets. I know this can't be the only instance of this happening. I also know there are plenty of people making lots of more money than my friend and are still getting these cheques. So what does everyone think? Do you mind creating a nest egg for the neighbour's kids out of your taxes? Should there be more put into determining who should actually get a monthly cheque instead of a blanket policy? Personally I would rather see the daycare down the road expanded to to hold more children for a reasonable rate, than hear about how "Junior" bought his first pickup truck my taxes. But that is just me.

Call it "National Beer and Popcorn Day" The Govt can send everyone a cheque for $20 so they can get a 12 pack and a bag of popcorn.

Who really cares what religion or sect of a particular religion someone is? I have posted my feelings on religion in the Morals section before, I am pretty sure. If someone feels they need a crutch to help them through the daily grind, a place to lay the blame, or credit, a way to absolve themselves of responsibility, while all the time being hustled for their time and money go right ahead. Don't push it on me, and don't bring it into the workplace, education system, or political arena. I don't care what someone does outside of the time I am paying for with my taxes. You start preaching from the pulpit Tuesday morning in Parliament and I have a problem. So far I haven't seen any preaching from these "Theo-cons". So where is the thread on the Satanists manipulation of Govt. policies?
