Sweal was originally suspended for one month due to a number of incidents ranging from using insults to swear words in threads. Sweal was repeatedly warned and he choice to ignore the warnings. The suspension has been moved up to a ban because of reasons I can not discuss here. This was more than a case of him losing his temper. I gave him ample time to correct his behaviour and he chose to ignore me. I read the whole thread and consider Sweals reaction over the top. This is not the only time this has happened either. This forum software allows me to track the amounts of warnings I give to each participant, Sweal was up to seven warnings for insults and disruptive behaviour before he was suspended. I agree. This is party my fault, as I have not been enforcing the rules strictly enough when it comes to introducing new topics. Perhaps I will institute a new rule relating to partisan trolling. How about this, simply do not use swear words or insults. If you chose to ignore the rules and guidelines, then you'll be subjecting yourself to a suspension and worse, a ban. I really don't want this forum's rules and guidelines to take its queue from our parliament - have you watched question period lately; it's more partisan bickering then democratic debate. No. We are intellegant people here, we have the ability to monitor what we personally say. By turning that filter on, I'll be queitly condoning bahaviour that is strickly against the rules. No. Again, we're all intellegant people; we should be able to control our behaviour in the forum without being banned from certain threads. If you cannot control your behavour in a particular thread, then the forum is better off without your input.

Ok, I've had a conversation over the phone with SatanHarper, and he's assured me that he is not RightWinger. I want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt when it comes to banning on the basis of having similar IP addresses. Sorry BannedHarper, But I've been doing this long enough to know the IP addresses don't lie. While I do acknowledge that IP addresses are not always static, I have the ability to cross reference multiple IP addresses in relation to multiple aliases that you've used on this forum and its clear as day that you're actually RightWinger. I can also see that your IP address from all the multiple accounts you've made originates from Telus, and low and behold RightWinger's original account was signed up with a Telus email address. If you want intelligent discussion, you have to avoid slogging through the mud of ignorant and inflammatory statements/polls like this thread. And no, this isn't the only poll/thread/post that has crossed the line between intellegant debate and ignorant slogging. If I remember I got upset when someone called Harper the "devil". For the life of me, I can't figure out why some of you think defaming your opposition is going to make your point any clearer? I'll let you in on a little secret, it doesn't. Thanks August! There are always plently of warnings before I take action such as banning a poster. Arrghh, I leave for a week and this is what I've got to come back to? Why is it that when someone intentionally tries to disrupt this forum some of you all over yourself to aid in the disruption? Have I not repeatedly told everyone not to feed trolls? and Why do some of you think it is ok to break the rules (swearing, insults) when it is in response to someone else's disruptive behaviour? How can I possible be expected to respond to these types of situations when many of the veteran posters of this forum are contributing to the disruption by behaving in the same was as the trolls. I can understand your frustration, but you all put me in a bad situation when you respond to insults with insults. And another thing, I want this partisan bickering to end right now. Just because someone claims to be a Liberal/NDP/Conservative and then behaves like an idiot does not mean that party mentioned by the idiot is populated with idiots (if that makes any sense). Lets all try to listen to each other's opinions and discuss these important issues without resorting to these pathetic partisan games. Greg Admin

Nah, its just a feature that is available for the forum. I'll look into removing these options from sight. We have no interest in charging anyone to participate or access in these forums - I doubt anyone would pay anyways! theloniusfleabag: The wind is the only real downside to Lethbridge. Hello, A few posters have been having problems with the [ quote ] feature. It seems that when you use more than 10 quotes in a post, the forum system fails to mark-up the post properly. I've talked with the forum developers and was told that there is a limit on the number of [ quote ] tags that you are allowed to use. Basically, you're only allowed 10 quotes per post, otherwise the quotes will not be marked up properly. So if you have a post that includes more than 10 quotes, please break that post into two separate posts. Sorry for the inconvenience and if there are any other problems, please report them to me. Hello all, sorry about the delay on getting back to you everyone about their questions. This is a problem that was brought over when the old forum software was updated. It seems that improperly structured posts (mixing up the [ quote ] code) using the quote feature is the root of the problem. This should not be a problem from this point forward. The server time will be fixed this afternoon I have noticed this happening too. I assume its a problem with the forum software placing cookies on your computer. I will look into the problem and report back here. Because we had to physically move the website to a new server, the IP address had to be updated. It seems a few ISP (cogeco being on of them) have been slow to update their Domain Name-Server (DNS) info, so some users are still being served the old website. This should resolve over the next few days. Previously we "outsourced" the actual hosting of Maple Leaf Web to a virtual hosting company in Vancouver. However, we have since secured a dedicated server in a data-center in Calgary, which provides us with more flexiablity in terms of the type and the stability of the hosting. Agreed. I don't like it either. In the next couple of days/weeks, I'll be incorporating the forum back into the overall Maple Leaf Web design. These types of customizations do take time, so please be patient. The overdose of blue will soon be gone. I agree. There are some really great new features! Keep an eye on this area of the forums, I'll be reporting back when some of the problems get resolved. Thanks Greg Admin

There as been another delay on the transfer of the forum and the website to the new server. Complications will be resolved on Monday, so I want to enable the forum until late Sunday evening (11:59pm). Rest assured, no information will be lost, and everything that is posted between now and then will be preserved. Just so everyone is aware, the discussion forum at Maple Leaf Web will be shut down for a 24 hour period starting today (Wednesday) at 2pm MST. The shut down is needed so that Maple Leaf Web can be moved to a new server in a different datacentre. We will also be upgrading the forum software to resolve some performance and security issues.
