  1. The facts notwithstanding, the average citizen still does not trust the Liberal party nor the newest leader of that party. The question of trust is indeed relevant and yet Dion does not seem to understand that Harper is a walking target for criticism in this respect. Considering this, Dion has issues of his own.
  2. While I certainly don't want a majority government lead by Mr. Harper, worst things could happen. If the end result is the complete removal of Mr. Dion I may suggest that everything has a price and this cost was worth the expense of having the Liberals lose another election.
  3. Pot isn't an issue in this election is it?
  4. Taxes for business has fallen dramatically since Harper took power. The wage slave however has seen little relief outside of a 1% cut in GST. No current partisan faction advocates getting rid of these detrimental revenue streams for exclusive government use. Its time for a change alright, all these political parties need their asses kicked with the hope that some group would actually advocate doing something positive for the citizen. There are ways to do that while keeping income taxes, but nothing would benefit citizens more then abolishing them altogether. Can you imagine having somewhere between 15 and 29 percent more money to pump into the economy? Now that would have a POSITIVE economic impact! Government could at least eliminate personal taxes as a starter. That would bring numerous highly qualified new citizens to the nation. Get rid of corporate income tax and watch hordes of companies moving here to take advantage of the situation. Government revenue streams need to be fueled with consumption taxes. Its that or dump the capitalistic system of consumer economic theories altogether.
  5. NATO is a very basic organization, it is not the UN. It is military not social. The problems we now face fall outside of NATO. The problems we now face are about the UN.
  6. Election time again, how wonderful. Its time for the sheep to pick which wolf will hide amongst us. The left one or right one, the black one or the white one it doesn't really matter which one actually wins the election because there isn't one single group of partisans that has the balls and the brains to make a difference to citizens. No party is advocating abolishing income taxes, so we will continue to be taxed into to our graves. No party is advocating cutting the bureaucracy of federal government so we have no hope of reducing the burden of income tax. No party is advocating constitutional reform so we will not be able to change the senate and at least get some value from it. No party is advocating doing anything that would benefit citizens without costing them money. So what good are these partisan groups anyway?
  7. My God isn't whats happening to the stubble jumpers great! Its about time they got a break. Even so what happens in the economic heartland of central Canada will be the determining factor in this and every other election. That is where the votes are.
  8. Then support him if that is what you want. I will not, nor will I say he is the right leader for our country. He doesn't even keep his promise not to call an election until 2009. I will take politicians one promise at a time and then call them liars when they break their promises. Harper is a liar.
  9. You can FOLLOW whom so ever you choose, however, personally I think that would be a mistake. Canada could lead, but that would take balls and brains, something lacking within our system. We are a nation of FOLLOWERS, not leaders. It is why we elect weak leaders, we are afraid of strong ones.
  10. Three things should be debated for this election. 1) Our military 2) Our economy 3) Our government The reason we need to talk about our military is that we have folks giving their lives in our names, in an effort being administered by politicians. The reason we need to talk about our economy is because we are watching thousands of jobs disappear in Ontario and Quebec, and the government is handing money to corporate efforts. While there is some logic in attempting to partner up with business to create jobs, its another thing entirely when tax dollars are being tossed around without any net benefit to the public. The reason we need to talk about our government is that we seem to being passing legislation that we don't intend to follow.
  11. I simply don't like either Harper or Dion. The NDP and the Green party have more to say than the two natural ruling parties in this country. Now doesn't that say anything?
  12. Trudeau is right. Look at the impending fall of the US economy and the rise of the European hybrid system to see the reality of the facts. Communism does work either, but a combination of social programs and private enterprise does in fact provide greater net benefit to the citizen. Look at European healthcare and compare it to ours. Watch out for Trudeau, he is like Panasonic, slightly ahead of his time.
  13. Harper can't legislate his way out of community centre. He is certainly not a fiscal conservative and is spending like a drunken sailor. What happened to waiting till 2009? The only good thing about this election is that it may get rid of Dion.
  14. Let the crap hit the fan. Four weak leaders will put Canadians to sleep there will be little if any change in the makeup of government. A monumental waste of money to achieve nothing. Harper doesn't have enough backbone to believe in his own efforts. He deserves to lose, but there are two many sheep that follow his footsteps seeking the political crumbs that spill to the floor. Dion is a lite weight, and Layton is a union goon. The boy from Quebec cares not for the rest of the country. There is no winning for the losing this election.
  15. I don't see Dion going that way. Too imaginative for him.
  16. Here in Alberta our experience with the PC's selling off provincial crown corporations should be food for thought for any who desire the same outcome for their own provincial citizens. Our utility bills went up drastically, the companies now make far more money and pay less in taxes than they used to. Good deal for investors, they were sold off at fire sale prices and now make large profits.
  17. We need this election to prove one thing. That one thing is simple, and that is the fact that Dion is not the right man to lead the Liberals.
  18. The most beautiful aircraft ever made; hands down its the Connie. The one that I like the most, the Arrow.
  19. What would be the point of having a weapon you wouldn't use? Who could afford to do that? It is a foolish person that believes they can put the genie back in the bottle. The technology is out there, and can be had for mere pieces of silver. If it is wanted it will be made or bought, of that you can bank on. The real issue here is far more complicated, it is one of human not scientific dimensions. That is the problem to be addressed, just as sure as this planet has weather. The nature of mankind is the true issue and it is not being debated very damned well. It is the essence of our being, the way that we live that is the real problem here. Now why isn't this self evident reality being talked about? Nationalism is part of the problem, so is religion. Economics are part of the problem, and so is education. It is not merely emotional, it is rational thought process as well that have lead us to this point. Even so, they have to date provided no viable solution for our problems. Communism didn't work, and capitalism has its own problems as well. We need to put aside the concept of a national public will and get beyond our own self imposed limitations.
  20. Drunk driving is a legal offense. That individual if caught and punished got what they deserve. Acts of road rage and violations of law should be punished as well. Criminals are those convicted of crimes and should be treated as such.
  21. That is to bad because I enjoyed that post!
  22. It is merely a tax grab aimed at a political solution to a green problem. It makes the production of oil sands appear to utilize a smaller carbon footprint. This is aimed at the end user or consumer of the products. It is an effort to retain a customer, a purely business decision made by government.
  23. They are publicly funded, in an expanding budget. They ask for and receive treatment that is beyond the reach of most citizens. They have "rights" where we have only privileges. Look how many casino's exist on tax haven native reserves. Look how much tax the native population contributes and how much they take out of the system. Look at how much it costs a native for secondary education and how much it cost the other citizens. Look at the treatment of natives for loans and grants based on federal moneys compared to all other citizens. This situation is intolerable to a great many of the citizens of this nation.
  24. A uniform, is a set of slothing that is alike. Changing the definition of that one word has changed many other things. The majority is being changed by the minority in this nation. We are leaving the tried and true method of of democratic rule and moving toward the tyranny of political correctness. One can say we are already there. The fact of the matter is that situational ethics have trumped the social morality of this nation. That morality was based on the majority will of the founders of this nation which was in fact based upon the morality of the religious historical heritage of the European culture which brought settlers to the new world in the first place. We have now defined that new world, and its far different from the one in which a great many citizens were brought up in.
  25. What this proves is that the CPC is truly a smarter bunch of thieves than the LPC. All that is needed to oust Harper is to oust Dion. When the Liberals finally wake up to the fact that their leader has all the intellectual substance of a wet noodle, then the farcical rotund little weasel running the Conservatives will finally lose his arrogance. At that point little Steve will know both fear and reality.
