  1. Sorry. I thought you knew. The various anti-miscegenation laws that restricted the legal definition of marriage on racial grounds.
  2. Of course it was. The definition was a man and a woman of the same race. The Supreme Court struck that law down in 1967.
  3. I understood your point: you can be even more classless than Dan Savage. Way to go.
  4. Excellent way to avoid a question you find difficult to answer though.
  5. I know you have a habit of avoiding any question that you find difficult to answer, but in the U.S. in the 20th century, mixed-race marriages were predominantly illegal. Do you feel the same way about that change in the legal definition of marriage, or have you decided in that case it was okay?
  6. Now it's just "at least a little"? Does that mean you are no longer "equally" classless and are more so? After the comment in the other thread about Layton and deflowering adolescent girls, I would say "way" more so.
  7. It's his death, not yours. He can do what he want. Can you also explain why you think it's equally wrong for you to scorn him for engaging in politics on his deathbed, and yet still do so? Hopefully, on the day you are eventually banned from this forum, the moderators give you one last post to recant all the cheap, divisive things you've said.
  8. Oh, come on. Give him a break. It's like the Al Gore invented the Internet thing. Facts are completely irrelevant to the talking point. He will continue to spread misinformation because, when it comes down to it, that's all he's got.
  9. But why is it wrong for a dying person to say something that you disagree with? Can you cite a Miss Manners edict on appropriate deathbed subjects? You have stated and restated that you think it's classless and inappropriate, but I am honestly at a loss to understand the reason for your thinking. Personally, I think you just hated the man and you were very uncomfortable seeing him praised to the extent that he was.
  10. What's the point of having opinions if you don't think they're correct? But I haven't read any refutations of capitalism in the Toronto Star. It cosnsistently toes the corporate line, just like the rest of them.
  11. I'm still waiting to find out why that would be "inappropriate" even if it were true.
  12. Why do you believe that the multi-national corporations that own and control the media have a left-wing bias? Your viewpoint may well be further right than theirs, but that doesn't necessarily make them left wing.
  13. That's just a personal value judgement that few share. You can do what you want with your death, but the rest of us think it's even more (and not just "equally") classless to pass judgement on how someone else conducts their death.
  14. Yes, those are all examples of statements that could be construed as political. Are you saying that people on their deathbed should only say things that everyone agrees with?
  15. I think if you know how to punch, there are ways to do it without damaging your hands (or so said my black-belt karate friend as he made fun of my other friend who broke his hand in a hockey fight).
  16. Still suffering from the reading comprehension, eh? No, I was just quoting you admitting that you find yourself to be classless. I guess sometimes the truth hurts. But why is talking politics on your deathbed classless? You keep insisting it is, but you aren't able to articulate why.
  17. You just said it's "equally bad form." You really should work on your comperhension of what you're writing. It looks foolish when you contradict yourself.
  18. So you have no qualms being "equally classless"? I'm not surprised. Personally, I think a person's last words are their own, and they can say whatever they want. If they want to restate principles that they spent their life fighting for, that's certainly their perogative. If Ronald Reagan's dying words were a call for smaller government, somehow I think you wouldn't have a problem with that.
  19. In western society, it's considered bad form to vilify, scorn, or disparage the recently deceased, even if you disagree with them politically. Unless, of course, they are Osama bin Laden.
  20. Of course you think that. But it's not nearly as classless as you were in attacking him for it.
  21. Let me also assure you that I am not saying this response is one of the most weaselly denials I have ever seen on this board.
  22. Yeah, but when Obama donated over 14% of his income to charity, Shady rounded it down to 1%.
  23. I believe they prayed the gay away, like Michelle Bachman's husband.
