  1. Debating this issue is largely a waste of time, because for some reason those who favour criminalization do not have the brains to understand the difference between a crime that has victims (i.e., child molestation) and one that has no victims (i.e., a grown adult smoking pot in their homes). They are also unable to tell the difference between a grown adult smoking pot in their own home and one giving drugs to kids. So who is the one who should be charged with being too dumb to breathe? The guy minding his own business or the fuckhead who can't tell the difference between a real crime and a victimless one?
  2. I can't understand why someone who feels it's wrong to criticize another nation's leadership would join a forum to discuss the political issues of a country that isn't his own. It seems you'd be incapable of saying much of anything, except the occasional "way to go!"
  3. Don't try and blame your country for your bad spelling. Even in the U.S., the possessive "it" doesn't require an apostrophe.
  4. No, but when they solicit sex with strangers, invading other peoples' privacy and turning public washrooms into dangerous and uncomfortable environments, then they too are guilty of a crime. The peeking is the first step of an extended ritual that weeds out the uninterested parties. If you don't mind being checked out as a potential sex partner while you're having a crunch, that's fine, but many others would prefer to be left in peace.
  5. You undoubtedly do not comprehend that globalization has made your us/them distinctions largely irrelevant. You might think that someone buying a Jeep Patriot over a Honda Accord is more patriotic, but the Patriot is more foreign-made than the Honda. http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2007-0...ent-chart_n.htm
  6. I think I'd pick a Hyundai engine over a stinky, noisy, unreliable Mercedes diesel pig any day.
  7. yet another Grade 2 attempt at debate. Get an argument rather than a whiiiinne.
  8. Yeah, where I am on the prairies doesn't seem to have much in the way of "normal" anymore. Either record-breaking dry conditions or record-breaking flooding, way more tornado warnings than ever before, more extreme cold in the winter, more extreme heat in the summer. I don't think anyone who knows anything at all is debating there is climate change happening and we are clearly in a period of transition. The informed debate is centred around the role humans have played in causing it and whether they can do anything about it.
  9. I thought it was Karl Rove who went to the trouble getting Dan Rather fake documents.
  10. Then why isnt McDonald's shut down? People are normally still free to do things that aren't good for them, thank Jesus. It's illegal because the powers-that-be want it that way because there making money, and because socons like using the law to oppress peaple they dont like.
  11. Are you being sarcastic? An inquiry into the creation of a bumper sticker that says gas is expensive? Do you think we have tax money coming out of our ears to spend on inquiries? How anyone can politicize the fact that gas costs more money than it used to is beyond me.
  12. I'm convinced that MikeDavid secretly works in the promotions department at CBC. Who else would be so keen on boosting viewership?
  13. Then how come, in the post directly above yours, you are cited as saying you find the stereotype-based humour offensive? Perhaps being called on being politically correct made you decide to change your approach to your argument?
  14. Is there a contest among the right-wingers on this forum as to who can come up with the most unsubstantiated, wing-nut bullshit?
  15. There wasn't a war in the Pacific to enter into until then.
  16. But under the private system, high-risk doesn't necessarily even mean you're a poor driver. It just means you fit the wrong demographic profile. Public insurance in Manitoba confines its generalized distinctions to vehicle type and safe-driving record. So it's more expensive to insure a motorcycle or a sports car than it is to insure a station wagon, because those vehicles carry a higher risk. You also pay more if you have a habit of getting into accidents. But they don't have the gender/age/regional biases that private insurers usually have, which makes for a fairer system. I don't think a 25-year-old city-dweller with a good driving record should necessarily be gouged just because of his demographic profile. Why not include his race as a factor if they're going to make over-generalizations like that?
  17. That's for sure. Some of them probably look a lot like you, as well.
  18. Besides Saskatchewan, which has a lot more oil (and an NDP common denominator), who are the many others who switched from have-not to have?
  19. You can always find someone, backed by the tobacco industry, to refute the studies. Even if it isn't conclusive, that's no excuse for jeopardizing children's health just for the convenience of smoking indoors. Anyone who does so should be ashamed of themselves.
  20. You odn't understand the relationship between geology and economics.
  21. Nevada feels its free to determine for itself whether marijuana should be decriminalized and regulated. http://www.regulatemarijuana.org/ By comparison, the CPC defers to Bush for their policy on decriminalization. There are even people on this board whos only argument for decriminalization is that the U.S. would be mad. Pathetic
  22. Geoffrey, why don't you just admit that the reason you want mariguana illegal is because you just hate stoners?
  23. I think that's the first time I ever saw an antidrug ad that wasnt total crap. But they don't mention that you can smoke dope and go mountain biking or skating or whatever. Then your really having fun.
