  1. Wow. Ok the Wal Mart wage might pay more in one area. Might pay less in another. It's SUPPLY AND DEMAND. The more DEMAND you have have to hire employees, the higher the pay. (Tim Horton's in Calgary). The more SUPPLY of employees to work the same job, the LESS it pays. This is how it SHOULD work in a FREE MARKET society (which we do NOT live in). Intellectuals like yourself should never determine what a 'fair wage' is for certain work. That is basically communism.
  2. It's this crazy concept called the 'free market' that relies on this wacky thing 'supply and demand' to determine wages. When Calgary has a lot of people employed in good jobs, the Tim Horton's has trouble hiring workers for minimum wage because no one wants to work at Timmie's. So the only way to hire workers, is to RAISE WAGES AND BENEFITS to entice people to work at Tim Horton's in Calgary. Mr. Landscaper finds out that Tim Hortons is paying more than what he makes with better benefits and goes there. The Landscaping company is forced to offer their employees more benefits and higher wages to attract people. Eventually, the indolents in society (deadbeat kids, the lazy) get 'called' to work by their city. Also, people will come in from other regions of Canada to fill jobs if they pay is good enough. When everyone has money, everyone is going out and spending in the local economy and small business can survive. Restaurants open and are all successful. Musicians finally get gigs. Everyone is happy. Don't you see. What we have is true wage equality. The Tim Hortons worker may get paid more than some useless techno geek with his degree who is all self important. It all comes down to supply and demand; NOT 'well i got this peice of paper therefore i'm smarter and deserve x salary and the gov't should ensure I get my entitlement'. Take your little institutional piece of toilet paper and go home. Wages and benefits will be determined by supply and demand. The key for good wages is to ensure that there is NOT an over supply of labor in the market (immigration). QUESTION: "WOW THIS SOUNDS GREAT! BUT WHAT RUINS THIS PERFECT PARADISE????" ANSWER: "AS USUAL, THE GOV'T RUINS IT FOR EVERYONE BY THE BELOW" 1 - Allowing Unions 2 - Needless Immigration which creates a HUGE over abundance of workers to ensure wages and benefits are low for working Canadians. It all comes down to supply and demand. It's the free market. The only place that is free market is probably Hong Kong. What we live in, and most of the industrialized world is called 'socialist fascism'. This is where the gov't and private sector are joined at the hip, attempt to control wages, and determine the outcome of the market place in order to protect a stock market comprised of public sector investment (pensions). We live in fascism across most of the world. Especially Japan. Hitler loved unions so much, he made all workers in Germany part of the same union. Unions and needless immigration (something I call 'people-flooding') are sure fire ways to kill a free economy. WHEN THERE'S NO FREE ECONOMY - THERE'S NO FREEDOM! UNDERSTAND THIS. THE GOV'T HAS LEGISLATED YOU OUT OF A FREE MARKET PLACE, HAS TAKEN AWAY YOUR HOPES TO GET A JOB AND TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS. IT'S NOW BECOMING A POLICE STATE THAT IS ANTI CITIZEN. WE'RE IN EARLY STAGES. (don't believe me, go try to find out what's involved in opening a burger joint. The gov't has red-taped and legislated all the cards against you and discourages your small business. Go see for yourself. You can't swing a 'mom and pop' shop anymore. The economy has become 'corporatised.. meaning stock market. Stock market meaning the place where gov't and union pension funds are held. Make no mistake, our stock market is funded with union pension funds. Most of those funds are ultimately - YOUR TAX DOLLARS. This is facism and you LOSE your freedom. The gov't has taken it from you and the more upset you get, the more of a police state you will have. The more you don't like unions, the more the police state grows. To be a good citizen, just obey and support the police and gov't).
  3. It was myself who proclaimed that we are already living in socialism (socialist fascism) and that people THINK they are not because it doesn't 'look like it'. I professed that in the next 10 years, you will begin to see the new 'police state'. Everyone will be regulated into a paper criminal or law breaker, and there will be huge amounts of police and security waging wars against citizens. The gov't will try to legislate how we cook dinner at home even. The 'enforcement' (police state) is coming slowly. It's just beginning right now. The 'anti-citizen' mindset from the police and politicians are here and now. At this point in our history you are on 1 of either 2 sides: 1 - Your are a civilian (you get your money taken from you to pay for the gov't) 2 - You are part of the gov't (your living is achieved through the involuntary 'taking' of money from the civilian) Which side are you on? Well.. we know this website is part of #2 category. Go look it up if you don't believe me. #1 will be the ones who will suffer. In any communist or fascist country, #2 is the main goal of any civilian. Everyone just reaches to climb the ladder of an 'elite gov't civil servant'. So as the police state starts to take shape in the next 10 years, you will see #2 become increasingly tyrannical on #1. A lot of this will be from provinces and local city gov't. You'll witness small business get shut out by taxes and regulations. Everyone will be working with or directly for gov't protected industries or corporations, which now adays, is almost all of them. A socialist, fascist state. A police state where you must obey.
  4. I delivered newspapers for the Ottawa Citizen. I had to do this 6 days a week, *AND* I had to knock on doors and collect payment once every two weeks. My bags of newspapers were extremely heavy. So heavy, I could only deliver half of apt building and have to go down to the lobby and get the rest. I had to go up and down apt building stairs in downtown Ottawa with a VERY heavy bag with all those old school, thick newspapers. My rout took me 1.5 hours to complete. A postal worker works 5 days a week. He or she has the option of not even delivering mail on her rout. She can 'bank her mail'. Many choose to deliver on Mon, Wed, and Friday. Some are really bad in rural areas and only deliver on Tue and Fri. Their day is typically a 2-5 hour day depending on 'luck' of route. They don't carry bags at all, many just deliver in centralized mail boxes. Those in rural areas who use their personal cars can charge and arm and leg for each km driven. It's an insane amount like 70 cents a km. When they do carry their bags - they're light. Not heavy like the bag I had where the strap ripped and I went through 3 bags. What's the difference between me and the postal worker? I was 11 years old and got paid $40 a week. I was entitled to no sick days.. no nothing. There was no days off except Sunday. The postal workers makes over 50k, has TONS of benefits, has one of the largest pensions in the world, has job security that simply doesn't exist in the real world anymore. These postal workers are welfare cases. We need to have free market. Let the job what it will. Hey, I don't mind delivering mail, wearing headphones, and having no boss. I'd love it. But I know it would pay only a bit over minimum wage if it was private sector. Since it's not, it becomes IMPOSSIBLE to get a job at the post office, and all the jobs are reserved for 'friends and family' of current postal workers. This is how most unions are these days. We have work safety laws. The spirit of the union is from a time in history that is no longer needed. Modern unions are damaging to an extreme and corrupt. They have a 'sick' effect on our society. Unions represent a broken and corrupt society. If you want high wages, just STOP immigrants from coming into Canada and taking all of our jobs and you will create a supply shortage to companies looking for hires. You will get work more easier at higher pay. Canada's labor pool is FAR too large and there isn't enough jobs.
  5. Well in my opinion, we already live in a socialist country and already practice socialism. It's just done in a 'less direct' manor though. We have communist hospitals here, in my province I have to go to a communist beer store to get beer. I am not allowed to become an electrician. The gov't decides who, how, and when someone gets a license. Half of my money gets taken away from me involuntarily or I will lose my property at gun point and go to jail. It goes into the pockets of the communist 'red coats' (civil servants). I am told how I must act and behave for the 'social good'. I can't go to a stream and go fishing without checking with our communist fishing authority saying where I can and can't fish. This is for the social good. I can't go into a corner store and buy a damn can of beer in order to preserve the 'social good' of our society. I am not allowed to grow weed in the privacy of my OWN house (not that I want to but just an example) in order to protect the social commune. I am not allowed to buy a pellet gun, take it home, and shoot that pesty squirrel that's been chewing off branches from my tree. This is for the 'public good'. The commune. Big Brother tells me how to behave in the public good. Just like Big Brother here on the site just recently banned me AGAIN for 2 weeks for something that I can't even remember what I did. I am not allowed to take a cow, milk it, and simply sell the milk to my neighbor unless I go through the communist, red coat, milk cartel. If I don't, I will be arrested and gun point and thrown in jail and lose my property. Just like in the Red Soviet Union. I am not allowed to open a small burger joint, without big brother inspecting the property multiple times, telling me how to do it, how to design my ventilation and seating plans, setting up a million paper processes, and then driving my startup capital so high, that it's no longer feasible to open a mom and pop restaurant and have it survive. Similar to Russia and Cuba. You could own a private business, but they really frowned upon that kind of initiative and set so many rules in the way, you wouldn't open up shop. I could go on and on but you get the point. We live in a full blown socialist society in my opinion where everything is regulated. Your pay, your life, who your neighbor will be, what you are allowed to do. Etc. The thing that people don't understand or realize, is something called the 'police state'. We are already socialist, but the 'police state' isn't here yet. The last decade saw major strides in the police state and it's growing and growing. With all the rules come enforcement. Lot's of it. We are at the point now where if you try to drop a line and go fishing, big brother will be there to harras you and ticket you. They'll find something to get you on. We're at the point that every one of us on the forum is in some sort of 'violation' or 'breaking a law' in our home. You see, the gov't has legislated all of us into criminals or in violation of this or that. When this happens, it justifies a police state. Enforcement. THEN you will see how much like Russia we really are. You will see how the gov't controls of all of us and it will be clear that we're in a police state. Speeding cameras, red light cameras, helicopters with infrared detection flying over homes to see if someone is growing weed in their house. Police on the side of the street hiding in bushes in known 'under posted' speed zones so they can make criminals out of law abiding citizens who are simply trying to get to work. Park rangers inspecting your cooler at a camp sight and ticketing you when they find some beer and making your spill it out. Getting stopped on your boat and your whole boat being inspected for a few cans of beer and then asked for your boating license. You were just trying to enjoy your own land and waters and are getting harassed and shaken down. This never happened in the old days. Why so much now? The police state is coming. Mark my words it's slow, but with more of our decline, you will see an increase of the police state. More laws regulating how we are to live. Where we are to work. And what we are allowed to say. Even here on the forums we have people like Michael Harder who does nothing but patrol the forums and report people when he happens to dislike anything they say. He is policing the forums and taking away speech. He and Anthony determine what we are allowed to say like little children. Socialism? It's been here for a long time. The Police State? It's coming and happening slowly before your eyes. From all levels of gov't, down to this forum. It's an attitude. A way of being. The Police State of Canada.
  6. Typical far left idealism's: Ban this. Ban that. Regulate this. Regulate that. Setup a new this. Setup a new that. ... it will only cost a few million.. And when this is done, everything will turn out just the way I want it. If not... well.. we'll cross that path when we come to it and make more rules and regulations and spend more money. How about this. ABOLISH THE DAMN SENATE
  7. To understand the core of the problem you have to look at it like this: -In the US - California does not control or make decisions for Texas so there is no issues. -In Canada - A group of people from a few cities who are elected by lower income immigrant/socialists are making decisions for all the citizens of Alberta and control of their life (no private health-care, lack of funding, firearms ban, economic restraints, climate change, federal immigration rules into Alberta creating crime, and now trying to ban electronic fences. etc). They use Alberta as some money tree, and then use that very same money to pay for the CBC to run propaganda in order to program Canadians to be anti-Alberta. This is messed up. As one person said, if a club was run like this, people would be revoking their memberships. Myself, I live in a suburb of Toronto where 50% of the people are born outside of Canada. We have 800,000 *real* population here. So I'm not being biased but anyone in a rural Canada is being totally screwed by our house of commons. The system is just messed up at this point.
  8. No. Canada is not 80% city dwellers. I am from Ottawa. Ottawa used to have a population of 300,000 people. That is the true population of Ottawa. Anyone from Ottawa knows how really small it is. It's common to bump into people everywhere you go. It's like a small town. What they did is amalgamate outwards and then including every outlying region to make Ottawa over a million people. What the gov't includes as an urban centre are places like Granby, Quebec. Here is a picture of Granby: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Granby-Boivin-LV.jpg Does that look urban to you? Let's forget the gov't issued percentages and focus on reality and intelligence, something the left are incapable of. There are two population statistics. Urban density, and then what the gov't WANTS everyone to believe - the fake bloated number. I now live in a 'city' of over 800,000 people, and I almost never run into someone. It's very anonymous here. This place is way bigger than Ottawa and the population is accurate. Saying Ottawa is larger than my city is an outright lie as I've lived in both. Ottawa includes remote, rural area. A LOT of it. Lets focus on the truth of the matter. Let's focus on the urban density stats of our largest cities. And no, Kitchener Ontario is not included as a real urban center. Let's take a look at population that include even the fake boarders (like Ottawa) and you will see 1 Toronto, Ontario 4,753,120 2 Montreal, Quebec 3,316,615 3 Vancouver, British Columbia 1,953,252 4 Calgary, Alberta 988,079 5 Edmonton, Alberta 862,544 6 Ottawa–Gatineau, Ontario/Quebec 860,928 7 Quebec City, Quebec 659,545 8 Hamilton, Ontario 647,634 9 Winnipeg, Manitoba 641,483 There are about 15 million people above. And that's not a lot considering the numbers above include huge amounts of rural population. Ottawa was amalgamated to include far, far reaching RURAL areas in the count. Please see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottawa#Demographics "In 2001, the population of the pre-amalgamated city was 337,031." Actually, Toronto before amalgamation was 960,000 or so. In my city (one of the real population centers of Canada that should be on that list, if I drive 10 minutes up north, I will be in an 'urban' area according the gov't, yet you will see nothing but farm fields. Is this urban to you? Sure it is. Because you believe what big brother tells you. This is an example of how rural Canadians get sh*t on by the city people. So in actuality, YOU ARE PART OF THE GROUP THINK. You just believe whatever the gov't tells you. Use your head a bit. Do you really think that 80% of Canadians live in *REAL* cities? No they don't. God use your head a little bit. It's a large country with people everywhere. Our city numbers are so low, they are not 'world class' and do not work in the favor of our crooked politicians trying to prove that we are something we are not. Canada is largely rural, despite the fact they may be close to city centers or even included in the bogus stats. This is why they need more borders so they can represent themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if Quebec separation was simply an old fashioned rural vs urban dispute. I'm sure a lot of you guys would know. I never looked into the stats of which regions voted where. In my theory, I believe that unlike the USA, Canada has a 'false' representation of rural vs urban and this is the real issue of Quebec separation. Gun ownership is most highest supported in Quebec go figure. Yet it's Montreal leading the gun bans. Rural Quebec gets upset at this sort of CONSTANT OPPRESSION from the city idiots ('citiots'), and their answer is their own gov't. We have the BC separatists, the Wild Rose party now which is growing huge.\ Right now, jaded idiots from Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal including suburbs are running all of Canada. A Canada which I believe about 40%-50% rural in population (similar to the US).
  9. Maybe she should start believing in her own riding rather than being a pro on international issues.
  10. When an inner city NDP elite attempted to provide a private members bill to ban electric fences because it was cruel to animals(!) I had to sit back and think 'wow, these people do not understand country life' at all. We have a house of commons comprised of elites from the cities who are bred out of our institution and have never worked a day in their life. On the flip side, we have massive, massive country with a large portion of the population living in rural parts of Canada with almost no representation. We have homeowners in Northern Ontario, paying insane property taxes, and get no services. They are there to subsidize city dwellers. I think part of the problem is, as Canadians, we can not easily travel to remote parts of Canada like you can in the US (due to other gov't corruption issues that I won't get into regarding air fare). I think a lot of Canadians who live in and around cities never actually see the smaller areas so live in a bubble. The reason why Toronto is the center of the world is because it really is that way - over representation in the house of commons. Their issues (gun violence) becomes a Canada issue, and too many politicians are based out of the big cities. This is NOT the case in the USA. Also, NY and California don't run the whole county. They're issues are not the issues of the entire US despite the fact that a third of their whole country resides in these 2 states (i think). I just feel it's time to break from the monarchy and choose something that would suit our needs better like an electoral college system or allowing the split of more provinces so there is better representation of different regions and cultures. We need to get away from this police state we live in and if that means portions of the country separating than I'm all for it. Our gov't is way, way too centralized right now and is simply too large. The worst part is we have idiots born and bred in the city running all of Canada which is hugely rural in nature and culture. If your so dumb as to want to ban electric fences because you are THAT ignorant if rural life, then you have no business serving in Parliament for a country that has a very rural heritage of fishing, hunting, and freedom. You can't do any of those anymore. The city idiots took it all away. (note I live in an urban center with immigrants and have all my life. I really feel rural Canada are victims and can't blame them at all if they want to separate)
  11. Well there's other problems too. Suppose 90% of Rural Quebers up north want to separate? And that includes Quebec city. That is very valid and I feel if there is enough people in a single area that want to separate, they should be able to do so.. The immigrants and civil servants around Montreal do not want to separate. I get that. They don't have to if they don't want to. We should have no say if a 'native' people on their own land want to separate. Northern Quebec doesn't belong to us (well it does cause we have to keep paying for their sorry *ss's), but Northern Quebec belongs to the people who LIVE in Northern Quebec. These aren't recent immigrants. These aren't aliens. They aren't enemies of the state. They are just Canadians that are fed up with their politicians and want freedom from big brother and the police state. That's all they want. I am in favor of splitting up our provinces into smaller provinces, and even countries. There's many, many reasons for this. The benefits are too long to list. I just ask that they share the same currency and and allow easy travel into their country. The country and provinces are too big and population too small for a Parliamentary system to function properly here. This is why Canada is now in a mess. We need separation all over Canada and a LOT of it. Only then will Canada 'get the message' that people don't like living in a police state and want their freedoms back.
  12. WHAT DO YOU THINK WE GO THROUGH IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR EVERY DAY??? THIS IS A WAY OF WORK LIFE FOR US!
  13. Wow i'd never talk about my wife like that. Anyhow, immigrant Asian/South Asian women from over seas are very, VERY bad in bed. People with real experience know. If you wanted a mail order bride, you should have looked to South America. Oh well, I'm sure you'll end up as a statistic in due time. Liberals lack morals. That is what makes a Liberal a Liberal. It's really true. Some consider the fundamental thing that makes a Liberal is the definition of 'without moral'. They see people as objects. They don't have values and morals.
  14. Lol already.. I should organize a list of insanity starting with Vegas, found naked in a known bawdy house, separatist MP's, supporting a flotilla to aid terrorists. They don't call him 'Taliban jack' for nothing. Latons true concerns are international issues - not Canada. He's always been that way.
  15. I think the system was designed for two parties. Or was it designed for no parties at all. Can't remember. I feel that people in a few cities (half of which are immigrants) shouldn't determine the gov't for the whole country. I believe in an electoral college system. Suppose 1 out of 10 provinces or states. 1 province decides they want to elect some voodoo party. They would only get 10% of the house. They couldn't control HALF of the house or determine the outcome of the whole house of commons. Despite there being 1/3rd of our population in our big cities. They all have the same things in common - they are immigrant, low income, and want gov't handouts and socialism. These people are what are taking over our whole house of commons. While they are very densly populated in a few areas, they do NOT represent the rest of Canada and should not 'hijack' the house of commons with their needs and wants. The FIRST DAY back in session in Parliment and you know what is on the NDP's mind? A private members bill to stop electronic fences!! lol no seriously! The cruel electronic fences need to be BANNED! Who gets effected by this? FARMERS and rural Canadians (ya know, almost half of the whole country). This is where the imbalance is in Canada. It's rural vs urban. This is why there needs to be a Rural Party Of Canada. People in rural communities are getting abused by our political system and it's gone on for too long. They can't even go on their own boats now without a 'boating license?' Why? because idiots from Toronto get drunk, rent boats, don't know how to swim, fall over the boat, drown, and then their local Liberal politicians representing Toronto center bring the issue to the hill and demand for licenses and tougher this and that. Who does it effect? All the rural Canadians. The long gun registry is the same thing. We have rural Canadians all over Canada who are now criminals because they haven't reported their long guns at home. Harper knows this and needs to scrap the registry because people in the gun community know that only 30% of long guns have been reported to big brother. Preston Manning in my opinion was the greatest political figure (greatest in a good way) to happen to Canada. He was over the head of most Canadians. He wanted to give Canadians rights to property, to defend themselves, etc. He did want a change of political representation, a flat tax. He didn't believe in family sponsorship. He wanted 2 teir healthcare. He wanted a small civil service. He wanted to make a Canada where you could be whatever you wanted to be in the gov't wouldn't be in your way. Now, we have a police state and immigrants deciding who is in power and who is not. They are the real trump cards. We have a state where you can't do anything anymore. You can't have a cigarette in a park or restaurant. You can't open a small business. You can't go fishing or hunting anymore. You can't buy a firearm and go plinking cans. You can't hung on your own property anymore, you can't talk on the phone while driving, you can't use lawn pesticide on your own property, you can't buy a couple of pitchers of beer at a restaurant with a friend. You can't get a decent wage anymore (in the private sector), you can't just enter a program and go into higher learning anymore without a perfect GPA. The Liberals and inner city people destroyed Canada and taken away all of our freedoms. Preston Manning was the last hope. The Rural Party Of Canada. I like it.
  16. YES!!! VICTORY!! FINALLY IT'S HAPPENED IN CANADA!!! YES YES YES I'M SO HAPPY!!! IT'S A SMALL START, KEEP IT COMING!!! THEY DO ***NOTHING ALL DAY*** AT THAT DEPARTMENT. GET RID OF EM ALL!!!
  17. I'm watching question period right now. The NDP seems to be a party of old men and 'teenage girls'. They obviously selecting young girls to run in their party as one other person from Quebec pointed out when he tried to run for NDP this election. It's a bit disturbing.. you have these old guys.. and then all these wide eyed, young teenage looking girls sitting with them who have no place in politics. Miss Vegas is wide eyed, keeps gawking around, not paying attention, she looks like a ___. Many of these girls are bored, not paying attention, and 'late to clap' when their own members are asking questions. It's obvious what's going to happen in the next 4 years. I'll be looking for scandals to come for sure. It's a matter of time.
  18. If you don't support the Conservatives, it would be nice if you could participate but try to answer how you would feel if you were a right wing person in general. Would you be happy with Harper? I'm asking because this one person out west said on a podcast: "I had a Reform card and I was happy. I got my Alliance card, and then my CPC card. With each new card, I noticed the plastic was flimsier and 'watered down'.. I suppose there was a hidden meaning in that?" I have to say that overall I've been very disappointed with Harper. We still have the CBC. Still a HUGE civil service, still have a communist health-care system with no private health-care, and have a RECORD number of people entering my country, taking my jobs away from me while Harper encourages more of this and continues to let indolents and criminals flood into Toronto. He's claimed to take away the long gun registry. So what? Future govt's will just ban other firearms and he knows this. He refuses to give citizens the right to property and to protect it. It just doesn't seem like he's going to bat for right wing Canadians as he SHOULD because he is SUPPOSED to be a right wing party. I have a hunch the CPC is in the first stage of 'imploding'. He'll basically buying votes from 'communities' to keep himself in power a la Liberal style. He doesn't care about his own base it seems. This will cause people like myself to start grass root movements and create a faction in the party or a new party all together, which creates vote splitting, and then surprise surprise, the NDP is in power. These predictions will take years to happen, but when I hear a throne speech about single mothers, affordable housing, daycare, etc. These are SOCIALIST agenda's. This is not the same party I recognize or the party I supported. Look at some of Harpers old quotes: — “As a religion, bilingualism is the god that failed. It has led to no fairness, produces no unity and cost Canadian taxpayers untold millions.” Calgary Sun, May 2001. — “You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society.” Report Newsmagazine, January 2001. — “MPs are bit players in a top-down parliamentary system and role players on their own top-down partisan team.” The Bulldog, August, 1998. - "Human rights commissions, as they are evolving, are an attack on our fundamental freedoms and the basic existence of a democratic society. It is in fact totalitarianism. I find this is very scary stuff." Interview with Terry O’Neill of BC Report newsmagazine, 1999 - "Your country [the USA], and particularly your conservative movement, is a light and an inspiration to people in this country and across the world." Speech to a Montreal meeting of the Council for National Policy, June 1997 - "Canada is a Northern European welfare state in the worst sense of the term, and very proud of it" Speech to a Montreal meeting of the Council for National Policy, June 1997 - "Canada appears content to become a second-tier socialistic country, boasting ever more loudly about its economy and social services to mask its second-rate status ..." Op-ed article in the National Post, December 12, 2000 So tell me what the heck happened to this great guy above?
  19. Like what? Is it the 6% yearly healthcare spending increases? Letting in even more immigrants to vote Liberal and NDP (it was proven in the last election that most immigrants voted for Liberal and NDP with NDP leading the immigrant vote)? So what is it that's so horrible and baby killing? Also someone mentioned contempt. There was no real contempt or 'crimes' committed. The public knew it was just political games and the party responsible for bringing this 'parliamentary contempt' suffered the consequences. Our system was 'used' for partisan purposes and was stretched into abuse with this 'contempt of parliament' nonsense. If there was 'real' contempt as it was intended for, this would have reflected in the poles. I consider Harper to be a LEFT wing, socialist politician. I find his party to be a left wing political party. I speak for a lot of conservatives and Libertarians. I want private health-care, a complete halt to immigration, and MASSIVE cuts to the civil service including pensions and benefits. Also completely eliminating most of our departments (like dept of fisheries, agriculture, etc).
  20. Ummmm.. 'Stop Harper' from what? What exactly is he doing? (beside letting in even more immigrants than any other PM and spending more money than any other PM). What exactly is the uneducated, dimwit, fear mongering left in Canada trying to 'stop' Harper from doing? She's now out for personal attention doing the talk show circuit and trying to get a name for herself. There's also a Senator that was put in by Paul Martin who called her a hero. A senator in our own gov't is calling her actions 'brave'. That is real Canadian bravery.. a stupid sign which cheapens our already joke of a country. Also, news is in that the girl who held the sign took part in the G20 protests, she was involved in Green Peace touring against the tar sands, and has a long history of being part of the radical left. Now Michael Moore (the far left hero who basically lies on his films and is disingenuous) is supporting her. I like the far left.. they need a movie or cartoon to understand logic. They only understand comic images and emotional fear mongering.
  21. Exactly my thoughts. The way I see it, these things happen. They should fire her and move on. Let's not make some giant make-work project over this isolated incident and waste tax dollars over this nonsense.
  22. This is the reason why my wife, myself, and my brother all stay away from vacations. Then you have to fight with your company to get the vacation money when you don't use it. Few here on the site actually work in the private sector or understand the Canadian workplace. The Canadian, non unionized, private sector is a very sad place where there is absolutely no job security, barely any benefits (for instance my wife is about to have our first child and her company does not top up her IE.. basically my wife is taking a huge pay cut to stay at home with the baby. For those who don't know, you basically have to go on general EI benefits when you have a baby. There is no '80% of your paycheck'.. that is a myth). Companies continually 'get worse', go belly up, take away free coffee. My brother just did a contract at a place where there was no kitchenette or microwave at all. And this is white collar pay-scales. These aren't labor jobs. I could go on forever with stories in the private sector and public sector as I've worked both, but I'd be typing crazy stories from each all day. None of you guys understand that Canadian work place (no offense but it's true). You guys just read media headlines about this or that. You don't understand just how many immigrants are taking your jobs and destroying the Canadian workplace. You haven't been working with HR sorting through 80 resumes over a job in IT. So many resumes you just can't go through them all. Also getting sent home early is standard in Canada. You ask an American and they never heard of this 'practice' of being sent home early. The Canadian workplace is a very, very sad place and when someone brought up the vacation thing it struck a chord because that REALLY IS the Canadian workplace. My wife is afraid to use her whole year off of mat leave because we feel it will effect her employment. (and she gets paid very well so please don't assume this is something reserved for lowering paying jobs.. I'm talking about white collar, good paying jobs). I have this saying; 'The Canadian business culture is really 'scraping at the bottom' when you compare it to the business cultures almost anywhere else in the world'. Work anywhere else and then come back to Canada and you will see just how much a sh*thole business culture we have here compared to anywhere else. Any country.
  23. EXACTLY! It's amazing here how people just don't 'get it'.
  24. The reason why we don't get all these things in the private sector is because there are too many people bidding for the same job. It's supply and demand which most of you don't understand. You could be an MRI operator. But when there are too many looking for work, the price for them go down. When employers are 'fighting' over MRI operators because there are so few, the price goes up, AND they will entice them with benefits. The gov't 'breaks the rules' of supply and demand. They just pay everyone high for work that is basically needless and fabricated. I worked there I know. If you speak french and have a degree and you're LUCKY, you're in. For instance - what is a firefighter worth? They aren't worth anything as it's a volunteer service in many parts of the world and there's no fires. But somehow, they are worth over 80k a year with insane pension and benefits. Also someone said that they are paid 8-15% more. That is just a lie and number twisting. Anyone in the real world like myself just laughs at that. How much is a ticket taker at a movie theater worth vs a ticket taker at a subway station. (yeah who remember that $100k a year ticket taker). How much is a private daycare worker worth vs a unionized teacher who works much less hours? How much is a newspaper delivery person worth vs a gov't protected, unionized postal worker? How much is security guard worth as compared to a federal, unionized civil servant security guard? So please don't insult everyone's intelligence by trying to claim that they make only 8-15% more. Anyone here who actually believes that is pretty dim and has no real world experience. I've worked at both the gov't and the private sector and have seen it all.
  25. At least you know where the money goes. Most people don't know. When the gov't 'spends' money, it's actually spending it on huge pensions, salaries, and benefits. You should find out how many people that report working full time at a usual place of work (a real job) actually work for the gov't. Try around 1 out of 4 people. Then look into a the salaries of those people and see who has the money. I am from Ottawa and worked in the public service as well as many as my friends. I can by typing all day and night on 'tales from the gov't'. The useless, make work, wastefull, unbelievable things we did. You should have seen what my job position was and what my projects were. It was simply unbelievable. All the food in the cafeteria was subsidized.. no.. i won't go on and on. I can assure you that what goes on in those federal buildings is a bunch of make work, fake work nonsense. It's a big scam. It's white collar welfare. People 'pretending' to 'play office'. That's the best way I can describe it.. we were 'playing office'.
