  1. Oil and gun, etc business are not a part of the political system though they try to influence it. But there's no reason why people, citizens could not modernize and update their political system when it's in a clear need of such maintenance. Look, in the evolution in general there's no promise of eternal existence for anyone and anything: species; societies; civilizations; even life itself. That much is clear. Partisan political system is heading into a dead end and it may require a major, concerted and intelligent effort of the society to escape it.
  2. A claim is not a fact and does not count as a fact. You seem to not understand that and there's no point in repeating. In a rational world, a claim can be either supported by established objective evidence, or rejected as invalid, incorrect, untrue. For the reasons noted previously, all your claims are rejected as untrue (this is my personal judgement and yes I take responsibility), until and unless confirmed by objective evidence. That should be very clear.
  3. I am doing just that. To escape evolutionary dead end you need to change, and in a meaningful, essential way. You don't want to. You'd rather not to. OK that is a choice and choices have consequences. Nothing else I could do or want to.
  4. Sure where do I sign up to "volunteer" like a politician? In a flash!
  5. I'm not claiming that FBI is a company of saints either. But I accept that I'm living in a rational world and in it I have to look for objective facts and evidence of any claims. For the reasons already discussed I cannot take your statements for either; quite the opposite maybe, for the obvious reasons.
  6. Which is still not the most effective answer. Anyone dissatisfied with one party for whatever reasons at all: individual, local, accidental you name it, is almost forced to vote for the only other alternative. In a complex modern society and the world, simply doesn't make much sense.
  7. The short answer is: no. And then why would anyone thinking rationally and clearly want to "get involved" with a squirrel wheel that never changes anything and cannot, factually for the very reason that is was designed, deliberately and consciously to prevent and avoid any meaningful change? Sounds like a brainless exercise to me.
  8. Sounds like a diagnosis. Plenty per se never solved many problems, see e.g. "Russia".
  9. But of course. A picture with no context to prove all points and answer all questions. No things are the greatest as they were at the times of Adam, no change needed. Look.
  10. But that still wouldn't answer the problem with politics representing the entire complex spectrum of interests and views in the society that is "squeezed" to the absolute minimum possible by the FPTP. A functional democracy cannot "clap with one hand". And there are well understood instruments to allow meaningful representation. In my view, it's only a question of the ability to evolve and will.
  11. Productivity at the bottom among the developed economies of the world. The only country in G7 without high-speed trains. GDP per capita as purchasing power: in the third dozen. But what would it be if the resource economy is taken out? How far from the absolute bottom? Political system a boring and stagnating dead end. Complacency and entrenchment in the past is never a good answer in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment. The country is moving into the third world tier and rapidly. The time is to see and act, but who or what can and will?
  12. You are dreaming. And you don't need to go far inventing your solution it's already right in front of your eyes. Yes this is the state well-meaning, benevolent government evolves to, naturally and absolutely predictably, if left out of all checks and controls by the society. Keep dreaming. But a democracy cannot exist with one side only, even of eternal wisdom and goodness. That never worked and will not. So the solution lies in the objective reality, that is variety. Allow the politics to represent the society as it is, not as someone thought of it three centuries back.
  13. Exactly. The love of monopoly. This is everywhere. Not about carbon tax (the need to do something facing an existential crisis predictably turned into another money grab by entrenched self-absorbed governments). No: it's about us, the country. Mentally lazy, complacent, boring and predictable, fearing and struggling to avoid any meaningful change. And the monopolies, of every kind simply love that. Works great for them. Keep it coming Joe. Here's some beavertales to keep you happy.
  14. In theory but in reality many will choose the other just to show dissatisfaction, boredom etc. In a duopoly there's no incentive to make an intelligent choice. If you don't vote for your tribe, you lose.
  15. The problem has been formulated earlier. A political duopoly inevitably engenders extreme partisanship and a race to the bottom. The democracy as a whole will degrade, not can, all the way to some hard stop scenario. Nothing is guaranteed by any paper or formal process, however thoughtful and smart. It's only a matter of time and entropy. Proposed is a solution to heal the problem of extreme partisanship. It may not be easy but it's possible, at least in theory and in the U.S. where democracy is alive and capable of change and adapting. In Canada, not so much. It will need a concerted non-partisan effort of reason and will: to understand the problem; the risks and dangers it can bring to the country; and look for reasonable, working solutions for the entire society. First, the country would need to abolish the duopoly in the representative branch by transitioning to proportional representation. A wealth of methods exists and thoughtful consideration can identify an option that would work. That would eliminate partisanship on the legislative level and relieve partisan pressure on the judicial branch. Where there are many parties, the allegiance is to the country. In a duopoly, one needs the support of the partisan tribe and it's easy to confuse loyalties. Secondly, the system may encourage non-partisan presidents. It may not be a formal requirement, but parties may establish a tradition by discouraging election of candidates who openly declare commitment to partisan, as opposed to national priorities. How realistic would this kind of reforms be? Only on a speculative level, at this point.
  16. Yes that would look stinky in any normal setting, like the fact didn't change, none of it. Will you trust someone who would flip their word on a dime for a gain? But here's the problem. In a duopoly there's only two possible options so whatever one of them does has to be acceptable and will be accepted by default and definition. Aka race to the bottom, assured and guaranteed. In a multi-party system, one could punish a party that is sticking with dishonest politicians possibly even voting it out to oblivion. No such option in a duopoly. Moral unraveling of the Republicans will spread and contaminate all of the democracy. And there isn't an obvious good exit.
  17. Note I don't claim that Joe Biden is a saint or the voice of the Final and Absolute Truth as you do about your Clown Idol. It's very simple really: if he is involved in so many reprehensible acts and illegal as you're claiming, there has to be a way to obtain objective evidence of that in accordance with democratic laws and procedures. Until that time, it's only your repeating some ungrounded claims. And if you do it repeatedly and persistently, without established evidence, may raise a question whether it's another sh*t blower. A democratic society cannot give in to irresponsible smear campaigns because the cost can be too high.
  18. Sh*t blowers: we have no evidence but everybody knows wink. They have no principles, no honesty anything they say should be considered a lie unless proven otherwise. There's no excuses for pushing the button for whatever they represent. You know from the outset it's wrong and will be all wrong.
  19. I agree, this seems to be the point of no return. A failure of judgement, and duty to the society of this magnitude and significance may not be possible to redress with any rhetoric. If an organism or entity makes such mistakes and keeps making them, it can mean that it's no longer viable. Lost sanity. At this point, even if that happens there will be still a massive problem of political division caused by FPTP. It allows for only two main contenders; so whatever new low one of them reaches, it is pulled into the mainstream to normalize it and become if not standard then accepted practice. FPTP is a danger to democracy. Its simplicity plays to all the wrong ends.
  20. He's full of sh*t. That suffices for evidence, with that kind of folks. Couldn't stand up for his dirty words, throwing verbal shit around covering it with more pompous bullshit. Just common i-liar, a commodity these days. Surprise me.
  21. And by the way, Putin = Hitler. No conditions, assumptions and qualifications: factual.
  22. I stopped reading after this line, coming from an confirmed, patented liar. It's not supported by any facts, not qualified by anything like "in my personal opinion, not based on any objective reality" yet broadcast as common knowledge. A typical liar's trick. Pathetic and miserable, way below the level of an intelligent discussion.
  23. This is not about about logic, it's how totalitarian, mob mentality works. It has no place for independent analysis, logical connections, established facts. No. It only needs flash points, tokens all dropped in the same bucket to spread and amplify the wave of hatred that is sent and comes around picking up steam. Observe how this is exactly how the Clown heats them up and many such before him, an established social technology. A rational conscientious individual has no place in this ritual. Every piece in it is wrong and it cannot lead to any good ends. If the party gives in to the mob, the only right choice may be to abandon it.
  24. Looks like you just can't understand the different between you thought, desire and an established fact. For you, they are one and the same. Just wish it strong enough and there, enjoy.
  25. And why I wonder all major chains, all three of them had exactly same price, to a cent driving by yesterday? A miracle coincidence, rare alignment of planets, in a market" economy? Monopoly ombudsh@ck, satisfied smiling: the salary's been good, benefits even better! No thanks needs. Fake economy, facade country. The ride will not go on forever, you know.
