  1. Everyone involved? What do you know about the plans and the people involved that we do not know? You are closing off discussion by insisting that the intentions and plans of the attackers are 100% known. That is assumption.
  2. Does this policy stop you from speaking English or does it stop your from speaking French? I think therein lies the source of all Canadian language issues: this natural reflex of looking to the government to be the creator of jobs. Everybody wants to be an employee of the government. If ever Canadians were to shake off their civil-servant-goal-in-life mentality, language issues would de facto be solved. Toss in a shot at Quebec, for good measure, regardless of the relevance.
  3. -- because these were calculated attacks. They were deliberately and well-planned events. We are not talking about an apple that happened to fall on somebody's head.
  4. Yes! but only until its expiry date or until it melts. That is why precious metals are used as currency: they do not degrade readily. No, it is not barter. It is more efficient than barter because it allows you to avoid stock-piling things you will need in the future. I do not see anything wrong with barter either. Yeah, until the government abuses the public's trust. How long do you think the US government has before that happens? When the American paper-faith crashes, this "anarchist system" may lay the foundation for its stability if not become a saving grace. What exactly do you fear? If Canadian Tire money rivalled legal tender as a counter-currency, I think we would see our government shutting it down. Trading in a counter-currency is a way to avoid the tax-man. It is more than that. The US government can not monkey with its supply.
  5. Nor was he assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. THAT is a more important difference to note.
  6. Perhaps YOU should try to find some Muslim forums. I dare you to learn! Is your mind open enough?
  7. Are you ready to tackle that issue?
  8. So.... what do YOU recommend for dealing with over-population?
  9. Go vote and get your new Premier to give it all back to you. Where is the problem? Do you believe that provincial governments are able to spend spend spend to no limit??
  10. This is what I think: If going to school is not compulsory, students should pay the fees. If going to school is mandated by the law, the school should pay the fees. [i will also take it a step further and say the school should pay the students even more as a wage or compensation.] Who cares?? Most of what you need to know you can get from the ElectricCompany or RomperRoom anyway. It would be cheaper to send kids home and give them free cable service. Unlike most people, I do not subscribe to the principle that the education of children should be free of extra charges, "so that every child rich or poor has an equal opportunity to an education." expensive baby-sitting teacher-job-creation industry yadda yadda yadda at all.
  11. -- from a domain name entitled ProphetOfDoom.net ????I am starting to get even more curious: do Ma and Pa Kettle even have internet service? or a computer?
  12. Unfortunately, that suggestion is wasteful. Even the rich will get your subsidy when they do not need it. As a result, it will cost more in the long run. If I will stoop so low as to suggest a better way to force charity, redeemable coupons or "food stamps" would be cheaper and accomplish the same thing. I for one think we should. Publicly held corporations are forced to do this by not only government but also by the various bodies that control the sale of securities. Why can't we have this for government bodies where we have no choice but to 'invest'.But you CAN have this -- all you have to do is demand it and use your almighty Power Of Voting to get it! You want the Premier of a province to micro-manage a local water supply??? put that on your ballot, too!
  13. Invest in NORFED now! If (when?) the US dollar crashes, what will Americans do with worthless paper? http://www.usatoday.com/money/2006-09-14-liberty-usat_x.htmSure, merchants may mistakenly accept the piece of silver (real silver!) thinking it is a US Mint coin (worthless metal!) but hey! they could also get a bounced cheque, too. When the dust clears, I would rather be left standing with a valuable metal in my pocket. Anything wrong with doing trade with Canadian Tire money outside of Canadian Tire? Eliminating the state's ability to monopolize the issuance of currency is a step towards commercial freedom and a step away from state control.
  14. Not entirely. To be as concise as possible, I do not believe that those three towers fell as a result of the two planes alone. The falls are toooooo perfect. The immediate axial descent of the beacon-pole on the North Tower is spookie. It did not tip sideways. I do not believe the American "government" was behind the attacks. However, like most democracies, there are countless bureaucrats and contractors on the payroll. It is possible for one employee of the American "government" to have been part of the plot. I will not rule it out. Does that mean the American "government" was behind the attacks? No. At least, not in any reasonable or useful sense. The Western world experiences domestic horror everyday. If Timothy McVeigh could bomb to kill innocent civilians in his own country, I see no reason to rule out the planting of bombs in the towers as a back-up. Given the magnitude of evil of whoever masterminded the attacks, I do not think it is prudent to believe there are limits to such evil. Given that those buildings housed many different businesses, looking beyond "government" for infiltrators is also reasonable. Anybody could have participated in the attacks from a ground level. All of these brand-new post-2001 de-construction collapsing-building-design theories make me think that the easiest way to get from Montreal to Toronto might not include stops in Gander or London or Cairo or Sydney or Tokyo or L.A. or Vancouver along the way. It seems more likely that bombs were involved -- given that the attacks were not accidental and required a lot of planning anyway. Why not infiltrate and rig up the targets too??? What would Dr.Evil do if his plane-hijacking pawns get cold feet or physically failed to secure the cockpits and got captured??? Whoever masterminded those attacks was clever and exceedingly elusive. The Zacarias Moussaoui conviction is the best we can do and it is a dead-end.
  15. Maybe I should. Where did you get that "quotation" from the Koran????!?!?!????? Please provide a link. It looks like the common misrepresentation. Period. From three different translations, the passage reads: http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/047.qmt.htmlMaybe your quotation is a correct translation and my quotation is fudged translation. The difference indicates that not all Muslims should be painted with the same brush. No. It is evidence that YOU read propaganda that you want to read to support YOUR racist misrepresntation of Islam. I am curious, have Ma and Pa Kettle never encountered real live Muslims in their lives either???
  16. You were not making "an obvious point about other cultures or religions" in the very least. You are being a disgusting racist by generalizing.
  17. Please do so and keep your racism to yourself. Keep your bigotry to yourself too.
  18. The forum guidelines which include: RESEARCH YOUR POST If you are stating a fact, be prepared to back it up with some official sources (websites, links etc).
  19. Precisely. It is within closed societies that racism and bigotry grow. This is disgusting: Stop. I do not see borders either. You know diddly-squat about Islam and you are fabricating paranoia. Your rant is either pure racism or it is childish. I do not know how your "lefties" reconcile it but I will tell you how I do: the exact same way as I reconcile all violent crime. Some people are evil and some people do evil. I do not give a damn about blaming OTHER people who share similar ancestry or culture. You are painting TOO MANY people with the same brush. Do you even know anybody who is Islamic??? People like you are part of the problem. Grow up and stop spreading hatred!!
  20. It sounds like you object to a lot of conventional authority.
  21. I think it is because they are not as smart as other people.
  22. I think that would make them do-Re-me-Progressive!
  23. I see no logic in Spock's statement -- unless "outweigh" is limited to represent the reasonably expected outcome of a battle.
  24. In the future, if it is proven that the the broadcast signal was physically harmful, would this change your argument? Would it still be wrong to illegally decode the signal and enjoy the broadcast without paying for a subscription? What if only a minority of the population gets sick, how would you balance the rights? Would the rights of the broadcaster and their subscribers supercede the rights of the sick? Although I do not, some people believe that they are harmed by various electromagnetic waves that we accept as normal. They may be crack-pots (believe it or not, I think they ARE crack-pots! those are not conspiracy theories to which I subscribe!) however, they may be proven correct. Regardless, the principal is important and completely analogous to the general dealings with environmental pollution. Often unsuspecting victims of pollution exhibit nefarious effects after it is too late through no fault of their own -- i.e., breathing air (or drinking water) they should reasonably assume was safe.
  25. I disagree. I think it is wisely prudent. Overpasses make traffic run much smoother and can handle more volume. We have no choice but to make them more reliable. Go ahead and trust your government to do its judicial inquires. Then you must agree that morals have no place in business. No, I must not agree. I have been granted the gift of serenity to accept the things I can not change. Since I can not change their morals, I do not give a damn about them. Your conclusion does not follow my statement. Why must I agree with your statement? Saying "morals have no place in business" can be misconstrued to mean anything. What does it mean, anyway? Sure! Why not?!? If a bridge-building business can afford to buy out all of the news outlets AND continue to make profit (AND, I might add, if all of the people are stupid enough to elect government officials who repeatedly hire the same dangerous builders), why have they not already done so?!?!? On second thought, maybe they already have!!! Maybe that is why all of the Quebec-government-bridges are collapsing repeatedly and nobody gets to the bottom of it! We had better get to work to stop it! Otherwise, we will be reduced to anarchy! Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!! That statement is unwise -- to put it mildly. All of the victims of the Quebec-government-bridge-building-business are privy to more than one hypothetically immoral news outlet. Buying off a news outlet creates an incentive to other news outlets to investigate and get to the bottom of the stories -- because they can sell more papers -- leading them to make more profit. How many more bridge victims do we need in Quebec before they get picked up by your hysterical "tragedies like this on a daily basis" radar? Asked by whom? people who live in a country with state-run media?
