  1. If it is so easy, why are you waiting?!?!? I think the only difference between Albertans and rest-of-Canadians is that they have oil. I doubt they have the courage to stand on their own.
  2. Let me clarify: anybody who promotes Peak Oil Hullabaloo does not even know any economics.
  3. You are right. It seems like after flaunting Gomery the police have finally caught up to them: CanWest
  4. Thank you Canadian Blue! I work with small business to access funding and business counseling. For the life of me, I could have sworn you were being sarcastic!
  5. Discussed at length here. No need for an additional thread. A spelling error in the title of this thread will mean that it will most likely get lost in future forum searches. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? A spelling error in the title of this thread also suggests that it may have likely been posted in haste. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Please get into the habit of using the forum search function. There is a vast history of previous discussions and rehashing topic discussions can create organizational clutter. I am being harsh. I understand that you are new to the forum. Please do not take it personally. I have been there and done that too. Soon after I joined the forum, I started a few threads and realized that many of my views were shared or previously discussed extensively. What I thought were original thoughts were not original at all.
  6. I would like to put forth a very serious type of sin: Thou shalt not clutter the forum with extraneous self-replied super-quoted auto-sequential chain-posts. Edit your posts to be more concise.
  7. You do not understand the difference between geology and economics. However, you are starting to think... Your example demonstrates the fallacy of Peak Oil Hullabaloo economic theory -- and you can not even see it. We may as well discuss why the sky is blue. Your answer would be: "The clouds blew away -- therefore, the sky is blue!" That is not the reason. The reason is because ignorant people did not fabricate the Hullabaloo theory yet. You are kidding. Those profit motives always existed.
  8. Actually, maybe quite the contrary. Here is a selection from their website: http://www.greenparty.ca/fair_taxes.htmlThis is the first thing on their list. They may have other confusing aspects to their economic platform but no more confusing than other parties. Anybody who puts reduce taxes for such a high income level deserves praise -- in my book. Aug91 will argue for reduced government spending first before reduced taxes, fine. I would rather my taxes be reduced. I do not give a damn about anybody else finances and I doubt anybody gives a damn about mine. Garth Turner's constituents may look at this first thing on the Green Party's list (because it is not buried anywhere) and be impressed. The rest of their platform may be ignored as it is incomprehensible. Between staying independent and joining the Green Party, I personally think he is better off as part of the Green Party myself. Politics is just a different form of show-business and you need all of the friends you can get. He may be a milestone in history by making the Green Party platform more noticeable. Even if you think the Green Party platform is extremely naive, that is fine. [Their talk of "fair-trade" -- hell, anybody's talk of "fair-trade"! -- is vacuous.] In all walks of life, extremists make moderates feel more at ease.
  9. I think it started at the bottom of the heap.
  10. Hello?!? You are missing something. Correct. It sounds like Jesus was an anarchist and promoted anarchy -- at least on Earth. It looks like I am not the only one who thinks this: The Book of Ammon Vine & Fig TreeThe Christian Anarchist
  11. I agree with Wilber and your recent posts now make me suspect the cover-up of the construction as the most likely deal. However, I will not rule out that the planning of the attacks included a domestic infiltrator. Ultimately, I will not assume the complete motive and intent of the attacks.
  12. What if Osama bin Laden kept quiet and did NOT confess? Where would we be? Actually, no. There is nothing except his confession that ties him.As far as motives are concerned, he could be lying. He could have been in on the scam.
  13. Why not? There is nothing that you posted which makes it reasonable to predict her feelings in this incident. People are not robots. Only a fool will think he knows how to predict a woman's response to anything.
  14. What is wrong with considering the possibility that she is truly hurt? Your brief post makes me consider the opposite of your conclusion. If she has had an easy life or has always had people cater to her or her father appointed her job, she may not have the skin to deal with this insult or innuendo.
  15. What do you mean? I thought Osama bin Laden confessed to it already.
  16. You are kidding. Have you ever played chess? Have you ever played chess well? Slow down. This is what you are missing: all you have to do is find somebody who is going to lose it all anyway.
  17. The reason is because it minimizes assumptions to: the criminal wants the attack to succeed. If the criminal strategy involved things that you or I or Mr. Security Guard can predict or expect, the plan would most likely be foiled. The least predictable strategy is the one that will slip through. This reminds me of the fort of Louisbourg -- somewhere in New France. The French kept watch only on the coast because they knew NO army would be able to drag cannons through the mud or up the mountain. What do you think the English did???? The English did both and took the fort.
  18. That does not matter because people do not have to act rationally. It does no good to only consider situations that are less risky and predictable. In fact, it would be smarter to consider situations that everybody least expects or that nobody would ever believe.
  19. However, it does not rule it out at all. -- or sent off to be recycled or sent to scrap yards or melted down .... These things keep me open to the domestic-criminal-element explanation side of the fence. I disagree. You have said this before and it is not valid. Levels of government are so elaborate that it is not so black and white. Here are simple illustrations: A government civil servant steals pens from work. Does that mean the government is behind it? A government civil servant funnels contracts to his "friends" a la AdScam. Does that mean the government is behind it? A government civil servant is actually a spy for the Soviets. Does that mean the government is behind it? A government civil servant is actually an infiltrator and works in the building security department but takes orders from a tall bearded millionaire who lives in a cave. Does that mean the government is behind it? It does not makes sense to automatically say that the conspiracy theories must implicate the Bush administration. Thanks for sharing this link: In my mind, it is wise to forget about whether the towers were rigged with explosives or not because as GhostHackEd suggested, it could happen again. Are we any more prepared? No, no, no! I am better looking than that!
  20. And that's an argument in favour of having more government?Of course!! You seem to misunderstand the whole premise! Take a closer look: Another myth rightwingers like to use in their argument towards privatization is that the private sector can consistently manage better than the public sector. We are to conclude that government should restrict itself to what it can NOT do better than the private sector. Enough sarcasm. Yes, the spending of government is costly and can be wasteful. It creates more hidden problems. One other nefarious effect of government spending is the crowding out of markets. Government spending can distort an economy by either bidding prices up or down. The government can act like a great big Kmart opening up next door to a small-time mom and pop store. People must demand less spending from their Canadian government.
  21. Your own sheepish naivety and wanton disrespect for freedom will destroy you a lot faster than anything else. You will implode.
  22. Global Warming supporters seem to use it as a partisan issue too. Does anybody have any recommendations on how to tackle the politics of reducing Global Warming -- other than NOT voting for the Conservatives?
  23. - extracted from " He said, She said, They said -- Cheap relationship angst in the House" one of the multitude of threads dealing with the aftermath of the Peter MacKay and Belinda Stronach affair I doubt it because people commonly enjoy watching others fight. It is also a continuation of a fight that should have disappeared a few days after the first round. Maybe it will get people more interested in politics since it brings our politicians down to an Earthly level to which apolitical people might relate. I think one of the networks should pick up on this and try to resurrect their "The One" experiment in some altered form. Certainly it is crass to say this but I have always found that the most exciting portion of a reality show episode is the ending or what I call The Burn. The 15 seconds of watching someone lose (either they get fired or dumped or voted off or sent packing) is worth the dramatic wait. I wonder if I am alone. I never watched "The One" so I can not have any idea of why that show failed so misearably. How did it compare to other successful reality shows in this regard? Were people dramatically burned? The reality televsion industry produces some of the most ingenious works of art and I admire them for their creative use of drama. We have certainly risen above the base-level excitement of watching O.J.Simpson escape down the express-way in his white Bronco to a higher level of cinematographic demand and supply.
  24. --- and on what side of your fence should the new anti-habeas corpus put America?I think you would have better luck explaining past and present warfare by looking at competing commercial interests instead of moral ideals.
  25. Why bother??!!?? It exists in Canada already, it is not new (except in the eyes of raging socialists who believe money grows on trees) and you can not take it away. Have you ever heard of people taking prescription medications??? They did not get them filled for free.
