  1. So have I. Also, I am sure both of us would agree that neither of us could have an intelligent (nor spirited) discussion on the rubble forum.
  2. No. You are getting it mixed up with "The Repo Man" and the search for 1964 Chevy Malibu.
  3. I agree -- but I never said I was non-partisan. One can engage in political debate without licking the boots of a current political party. Find me a political party that represents my partisanship and I will send all of my hard-earned cash (delivered in unmarked manila envelopes) to YOUR party. That is nothing. My position on multiple-multiple-extraneous-posts-after-posts is even more partisan.
  4. Not the non-partisans -- they can stay clean.
  5. You are kidding. I am sure Pinochet was supporting Britain for humanitarian reasons.
  6. Just a point of order: there is a lot of empty whitespace (sometimes more than the added response!) in the quotes throughout this thread. Check out #5 of Using the [ Quote ] Feature: Avoid using more too many quotes!--- Some of you have already gone back and tightened the formatting up. Excellent!
  7. What exactly are you suggesting in this thread?? because I can not figure it out. Are you suggesting an intervention? Are you just humiliating the people who prayed?
  8. I would like to make a suggestion on how to "cut" things: trim your posts. I have contacted some of you already by PM and so I am pointing this one out inside the thread. The first two replies ought to check out #2 here: Using the [ Quote ] Feature: Avoid using more too many quotes!
  9. No. Some people in this thread are suggesting targeting the exchange. post #7 post #16 post #36 The theory also depends on zero transport costs -- which is its biggest failure.
  10. Granted. Thus, I would say targeting the exchange rate is fidgeting with an economy a la Professor Marx. Actually, it adds very little. The theory lets us compare maybe Canada to the U.S.A. but no more.
  11. Let me get this straight. You assume: Dove campaign is based on theoryA -- which nobody can ascertain. You say: TheoryA is incorrect. You conclude: Dove campaign must fail. Maybe the Dove campaign is NOT based on theoryA (media reflecting social yadda yadda yadda)?
  12. Ah.... burgernomics, is it? The Big Mac theory is bizarre because it fails to take demand into account and it assumes that the costs of production are the same everywhere in the world. For example, the price of a Big Mac in French francs is affected by the fact that the French do not like Big Macs or the wages of French workers.
  13. Why do you think that is the purpose of the Dove campaign?
  14. You have any lying around? Actually, I would say that the consumer only has an appetite for that message. The media just delivers. Do you see people buying a Cosmo-esque magazine that had an ugly (by whichever standard you want to define) person on the cover? Easy: not every person is a worthwhile target audience. Would you sell make-up kits to men? (I know, I know, I know, some people would.) Would you sell anti-aging wrinkle cream to teenagers? Would you sell anti-acne cream to old folks? People (i.e., consumers) change.
  15. Like what would that intermediate position be? Like being a little pregnant? Canadians do not know about Afghanistan? That is a bold assumption. How easy it is to say that Canadians just need to be educated or enlightened. Is anybody open to the possibility that Canadians DO know enough about Afghanistan and actually object to the "mission" over there?
  16. Do you think it comes free-of-charge? Targetting for an exchange rate is favoring certain sectors of the economy at the expense of others. It is not fair to suggest a target without recognizing that some sectors will suffer. Therefore, I ask: at whose expense will you "encourage a higher dollar" because not all sectors will benefit from it. Invariably, you are stealing from Peter to give to Paul with an exchange target. Granted. My sarcasm is childish and unnecessary.
  17. WhiteDoors, please trim your reply to contain less quotations. Trim Your Posts and Quotes, Don't just hit "Reply"
  18. No, but thanks for advertizing your forum. How about these cross-posts adverts: Defending The Truth!!! Conflicting Views Hey friends! Maybe we should all go into that forum and repeat all of these threads over there too?
  19. Why are you barbaric? If I saw you assaulting someone in that manner, I might intervene to stop you from continuing. It is non-sensical to be barbaric. Count yourself lucky. To start with, I do not own any firearms. You are not as lucky as some people in this world. Quite simply, I call that: besides the point. Home invasions, street muggings and violent crime happen constantly throughout Canada and throughout the world. When they happen, there is no law, there is no social contract and there is no government. There is only coersion and self-interest. The State and all of its dellusional glories disappear.
  20. Greg has asked me to help forum members by pointing this out and giving advice. Do not be surprised if I notify you through the Personal Messenger function when this occurs. I will refer you to this thread and this other: Using the [ Quote ] Feature: Avoid using more too many quotes! which presents more details. Check your browser settings when editing your posts. You may be missing out on some of the extra editing functions which require that you have JavaScript active. [For older browsers, turning off JavaScript has often been the only way of preventing pop-up advertizements.] Also, please feel free to contact me through the PM function if you want help or have any questions with the extra editing functions. I can give you pointers and advice. Do not feel shy or embarrased. Learning browser-related editing can be a challenge. I have no problem walking through many of the functions.
  21. ??? Are you saying that replying somehow damages the threads? I suppose not replying will make for a great discussion.No. You misunderstood what Aug91 is saying. He is not insulting the content or quality of your reply. He is saying that the text layout and format of your reply contains too much quoting. It is not necessary to repeat an entire post by QUOTATION in your reply. We should be condensing our posts and replies to contain only the relevent text. Otherwise, scrolling through the thread becomes tiresome and long. Refer to these threads: Using the [ Quote ] Feature: -- Avoid using more too many quotes! Trim Your Posts and Quotes -- Don't just hit "Reply" for more details.
  22. Be specific: exactly what monetary policy do you want to see? Do you want a targeted exchange rate? Wait: what is your goal? Why would you want to keep foreign dollars from entering Canada? Some people in Canada can do well enough with foreign currency as they could with domestic currency. Why are you making a difference on a national scale? Are you favoring some sectors over others??
  23. Are you afraid of any of them? I hear what you are saying and I see that too. The difference is that I also see the children of immigrants and I do not believe they continue the bigotry. Bigotry will be solved by attrition within a generation or two. The old bigots will die off.
  24. How would you do that, pray tell? and at whose expense? "Here dollar-dollar-dollar! Here dollar-dollar-dollar!"
  25. Good question. I'd like to think that, having nothing to hide, I'd be fairly cooperative,I would like to think you were co-operative too. Unfortunately for you, guess what: I am not a police officer. Ugly, is it not? Unfortunately, MeLanie up above just got mugged by what she rightfully thought was a police officer. Anyway, Wilber, I repeat: what would YOU do?
