What are next weeks lotto numbers? http://en.wikipedia....ion_jet_fighter Fact is 6th gen designs already exist. f35 is a 20 year old project already. It is really unfortunate that todays design isn't built today instead people opt to build yesterdays design today. You are regurgitating market control not the reality of the plausible and potential. Canada's national security shouldn't be delegated to the realm of market control. It would have to be a pretty large basement, but we can't rule that out. Theavionics of the f35 suck. It has bells and whistles but it sort of sucks as a plane. Doesn't max out speed capabilities, no super cruise, avionics can be put on another aircraft via modules. There are things that arn'tcool likethe fact 'the software' ain't even done..... and level of technology is from 20 years ago. I'mstarting to think 100 million of the plane cost is box design. None the less.. it stinks.. the only benefits is to buy a few for NORAD and a strike force, its not much of a fighter though. I prefer a home brewed plane, not an American controlled project. Canada needs to revise its IP laws though, they have resulted in the US buying out Canadian IP's related to the defence industry leaving Canada at gun point super inflated prices for defence spending it is nonsense. I just say to hell with it. But the means of procurement ---- it should be paid with avaialble funds only spending what Canada can pay for today. Its just a really badly implemented procurement. Plans exist eg. http://en.wikipedia....neration_Bomber the whole thing is massive in mindset though, but you are staying a line that isn't holistic and is market driven. Take for example the fact that Strategic Offensive Reductions Treaty applies to the US and not Canada. I think where Canada needs to go is an orbital drop ship. Something that can take pay loads into space and have a rapid descent to target. Utilizing free fall assist for high mach insertion. As well as a secondary force for intercept and escort. --- I think that procurement of Rafale like plane and f-18's are just going to be a stop gap. Canada needs to expand its airforce not receed it. I think within 10 years though Canada should look to except in high level contexts use drones for escort, or atleast mix things up a bit... but the whole strategy needs to be modernized. The procurement just feels like it is being managed by dinasuars who don't have a clue what technology exists today. An orbital dropship might be two stage.. stationary launch cannon to suborbital then thrust to near space to drop zone. http://en.wikipedia...._bomber_concept Like what is the deal with the x37b? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1268138/X-37B-unmanned-space-shuttle-launched-tonight.html

From what I'm aware there is a selection committee for the order. -
They are pissing around. Its not their money to spend so they are being irresponsible with the futures of Canadians. Just knife the stuff, stop wasting time. There is too much junk program spending going on, too many staff for delivery needs, and too much waste and excess in the elitists on the hill. They should pay from their bank accounts first and see how the rationality changes.

Because its a waste of money. or more importantly resources. If it was his own money I would have no complaint but it is tax dollars when the governmen tis performing horribly wracking up the biggest debt in Canadian history. They don't need nor deserve tax payer funds for their personal security - especially if a foreign state is willing to pay. Strategically Stephen harper is just some guy. Canada can loose a PM with little loss to national defence. In that respect its not worth the expense. If he wants security he should pay for it. The RCMP should not be used as private security outside of Canada. The guy makes over $300,000/year plus gets a free house, free car, free flights, and is a millionaire when he retires. He can pay for his own freaken security. Fact is though... if people wanted to kill him he'd be dead if they were serious. Some chump earning less than the low income mark shouldn't be paying a five cent peice for the PM's personal security detail out of country. Fact is he shouldn't even be going out of country to secure "agreements" Canada already has ambassadors to do that. Personally on a national politics basis,I couldn't careless if the PM was offed. Giving executive power to a partisan person is what makes Canada a dunglike country. http://classicvalueinvestors.com/i/2010/06/warren-buffetts-security-does-40-per-hour-deliver-adequate-protection/ -

PM's and Premiers should get the order by default after one term is complete, unless they loose their position due to illegality (i.e. criminal conviction) So should the grand chief / council leader. I think that this is in part because they forever reamain in a sense a premier with special status, as well, they are privy council (for life) the argument exists that perhaps all p.c. should get the order, as it is a life long oath and duty (unless they become disqualified (are removed from privy council if that is possible..) thus the position automatically denotes a lifetime of service to the federation. But I geuss they need to be nominated.... -

Order in council (OIC) - A legal instrument made by the Governor in Council pursuant to a statutory authority or, less frequently, the royal prerogative. All orders in council are made on the recommendation of the responsible Minister of the Crown and take legal effect only when signed by the Governor General. (Décret du Conseil) Now who asked for the security to be obscene and ineffectual? -

I think that that debate should not be left to de facto partisan beleifs on a trumped up identity of the PM to mirror the Southern political system. The fact is, it ain't law, and it is abuse of powers of the GIC for Cabinet to request security where it isn't required for reasons of image. It ain't about security it is about misalignment of personal self importance and cultural conception of what a governing authority beyond any external force acting to upset the scripted program desires. From what I've read about this stuff it is just nonsense selfish program spending in what is essentially just dumping tax payer dollars down the toilet. Its not about how much its about the fact that it is being used for selfish non governmental purposes at the tax payers expense. It is for the very reason that creation of a powerful centralized authority is not in the interest of Canadian society, and it is for that reason that the corruption of the office of PM needs to be held to the law rather than partisan political corruption that exists. MP's shouldn't require security details nor should any other federal employee exept where there is an issue of breach of the peace. While I would not say it would be inapproprirate for there to be monitoring of federal buildings etc.. the level exercised and the sheer abuse and invasion creates a sureal identity for an office that doesn't deserve and canadians shouldn't accept. Security on National Security grounds should be the military not the police. The police are about civil order, the military is about acts of war. In this part I don't think the PM deserves mlitary security because they arn't the head of state. It is that simple. While the federal building housing foreign dignitaries if so would be in the national interst to defend. The idea of the PM as head of state or an executive power is just an ongoing treason. We should all just take a moment exhale deflate the position and save ourselves tens of million of dollars. It is disgusting to think the position holds anything more than partisan political authority, it is disgusting to think the state would bow to partisan authority or give privelege to an individual at the expense of the whole where it is not on humanitarian grounds. -

I'd pay $5 to protect my neighbour before paying $5 to protect the PM. Maybe I don't want to pay $2 per year so the PM doesn't get killed or kidnapped. I don't find that irrational. It's the PM not my child. He makes enough to pay for a bodygaurd if he wants one or two, he shouldn't be abusing his position in Governor in Council to take funds to pay for his security detail. That is embezzlement. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Embezzlement You can't claim appropriating 50 million a year for a private security detail for yourself isn't a conflict of interest and abuse of taxpayer dollars.. If he is at such risk why doesn't he just get a riot suit and wear that day in day out. He could probably get a mecha built for less than the cost of his security detail. Yeah cause that business look is more valuable that someones life. That is total bs wasted dollars for image gtfo. -

Who cares if the PM is killed there are plenty of crooks to fill his shoes. Fact is yes it matters that millions are being wasted on protecting someone period. Send him to some Island where people don't want to kill him, the expenditures are nonsense. If the man is so democratically popular why is it people want to kill him? Fact is, the PM really doesn't matter, and it is only corruption that has made the post "executive" it ain't suppose to be, it is an adminsitrative post. If all the corruption and Americanizations were washed from the Canadian system the PM would be little more than an overseer of government. it is the legislatures job to make law. Itis the PM's job to manage the minsitries. That's it. If people stopped supporting political corruption then this discussion would be over. Bottom line Governor in Council is cabinet to a large extent, headed by the PM, and it is a corruption for them to prescribe security details for themselves. Keeping the peace for all members of society equally so should be self evident for peace officers, if there is a breach or likely breach the police should be able to respond independently, they should not be ordered by the pm to gaurd the pm, that ain't the law. If the PM needs security it should be budgetted into the PMO's office not the RCMP, and it should be done through a budget in the legislature, not through a order in council bs. It is abuse and akin to embezzlment by appropriating personal benefits from public office. PMO general security should have nothing to do with the RCMP. The level of the security detail and expense just are not warranted. The closest the PM has been to danger is his front yard being lit on fire with lighter fluid. He's probably been more at risk crashing weddings in Ottawa than in India. -

Just admit you are wrong and you can't demonstrate where that is in the RCMP Act and it is a corruption for the RCMP to babysit the PM for 50 Million dollars a year. It is disgusting one person is eating up so mmany millions of dollars. It is an utter waste of money. Oh no I'm saying something the corrupt politicians with gold plated pensions and perks up the backend won't be upset about. gtfo here, -

Nonsenseit ain't their mandate under the rcmp act. 'just because the police don't do their job according to the law don't make it no mandate. their mandate seems to be wasting police resources while women get raped on their way home, and organized crime reigns the streets. the only mandate they are acheiving is wasting tax dollars 'stop lying show me where it says that in the rcmp act or how it is fullfilling their duties under the act. you are spouting nonsense. just because the rcmp post it on their website don't make it true read the act not the webmasters take on how things work, the webmaster is only showing corruption in the rcmp administration there ain;t been no democratic mandate for that stuff you say, it ain't the law, it is bigwigs giving themsekves perks rcmp stopped being responsible for security intelligence in the 1980's. it ain't their job, it actually for a reason ain't their job. only csis is suppose to be responsible for that stuff there is also the military stuff for cse and intel and coubter intel and counter counter intel then they made up all those police teams which is just forgetting why csis was made in the first place and the rcmp stopoed acting as an intel agency. your are confusing the law with corruption THEN YOU HAVE THIS NONSENSE http://www.canada.com/news/RCMP+asks+outsider+review+security+squad/7060363/story.html -

It isn't the RCMP's mandate under the RCMP Act, it is a corruption of the RCMP. Unless you are calling the PM a criminal in need of escort, its not their job. If anything it would be under the mandate of the miiltary. Attorney general of province may requisition aid 278. On receiving a requisition in writing made by an attorney general under section 277, the Chief of the Defence Staff, or such officer as the Chief of the Defence Staff may designate, shall, subject to such directions as the Minister considers appropriate in the circumstances and in consultation with that attorney general and the attorney general of any other province that may be affected, call out such part of the Canadian Forces as the Chief of the Defence Staff or that officer considers necessary for the purpose of suppressing or preventing any actual riot or disturbance or any riot or disturbance that is considered as likely to occur. No its not. The PM has no special protection law. Protect the PM is no where in the RCMP Act, read the law. Show me where it says that: http://laws-lois.jus.../eng/acts/R-10/ Now sure if they have reasonable grounds to beleive someones life is subject to a criminal offence they are warranted to react to that, but in Canada, its not their job to police India, that is what the police in India are for. However, he is a private person, and if he has security needs he should contact ADT and private security firms, he gets paid enough to hire a body gaurd. He could hire more than one out of CAD$317,574 and a free house. http://www.adt.ca/sp...CFehDMgodIU0AqQ $50000000 a year to protect that guy is nonsense. He means very little to Canadian National Security. ADT is $40 a month, and they could gate off the sussex neighbourhood (I think the embassies should be ok with that too) and plop down a police station for "community policing" private RCMP honour gaurd from the tax payers pockets is nonsense. Its not like an organized militant force couldn't take the compound anyway. The building is only about 20m x 20m https://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&sugexp=les%3B&tok=65yBMqO0NM-Pb_WMqXV_GA&pq=sussex+drive&cp=6&gs_id=2a&xhr=t&q=24+sussex+drive&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.&bpcl=38093640&biw=1021&bih=411&wrapid=tljp1352616742263210&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl -

The point is the only way the RCMP is involved if the PM and cabinet asked them to, which is a conflict of interest for them to be using the powers of governor in Council to get private security for their trips outside of Canada. That is DND's job to exert in foreign territories I can' say it enough. DND CF intelligence, should be doing this by default, this has nothing to do with the RCMP except escorting the guy to the airport. -

I'm not going to waste my time talking to the RCMP, I'd contact a MP if I felt the need to complain about the RCMP or the RCMP civillian commission if it was direct abuse, or I would lay an information personally if I was aware of other issues of an indictable nature. (and likely due to blue wall and justice system corruption, personally complain through media available as the JP orJudge would likely ignore the information because it would put the justice system into disrepute) Its not terrorists dictating it is common sense dictating. Terrorists can be anywherein the world and they can strike anywhere in the world, an armoured car ain't going to stop that alone. It justincreases the level of violence associated with any attack. The PM shouldn't be requiring the RCMP to protect it, if the PM has security needs it should be done throgh national defence not the RCMP, in relation to foreign activities. That is why embassies have military attache's in part. Also parliament and the opposition can question the activities of any government department or agency etc.. that is their job. Much like it is the RCMP's job to insure peace and good order in Canada, not in India. The bottom line is RCMP should only be concerned with Canada, not Canadian activities in foreign states except as it pertains to investigations linked to Canada stemming from foreign countries, but Canada is not a state which advocates for poilcing of foreign states, nor does the mandate of the RCMP extent to foreign proection services, nor should the budget of the RCMP be wasted on foreign protection activities. -

Couldn't he just have said, "your people want to kill me, come play at my house." I got a phone for christmas, how about you? Do you use phones? This sets a bad presedence, if the PM isn't "safe" in India we will be flying in a car everywhere he goes. Like the Phillpenes has a guerilla war, and did he bring a car there. What about China, where embassy vehicles were attacked, or Israel where people and terrorist attacks still happen, or france where terrorist cells are occassionally broken up, I could go on and on, but India is not particullary a dangerous country. He could dress in a cow costume and be safer than he is on the hill. It would be a wonderfully symbolic act that Canadians could identify with the trip to Asia. -

Yes because a shipping company can't bug a car, there is something called EM sensors that can detect bugs there are also devices that allow short range communication without external vocalization (such as throat sensors with send/receive. The idea of sending the cars over is rediculous as the cost of shipment to and from india is far too high when there are already local resources, that could have anonymously been obtained. see http://www.opticspla...phone-mt90.html along with a "sheildedfibre connected communications s/r" paired with white noise and/or high decible and same decible accoutic interferance. http://solutions.3m....0K8BC31gv)&rt=d cause boom mics don't exist right.. bugs such a stupid reason no one with half a brain would beleive that. -
